With the ships getting bigger and bigger, and ports wanting to limit the number of people per day, the ships have to become more unique because there will be fewer stops. It will be interesting to see how these dynamics change things over the next few years.

I see that to with the quality of food where I live...much higher prices, less quantity, and longer wait times. Customer service is not good either....but tipping is shoved at you!

Uber Boats is on the Thames in London it is a great way to see day or night at reasonable rates depending on how many stops you do

We for the most part don't eat often in the MDR. On our last cruise on Discovery to Alaska in May we did the 360, chef's table, Gigis, Crown Grill and Sabatinis so only dined in the MDR twice. we prefer newer ships with more to do and more dining options. We never do the buffet. So we would not boo a specific ship for a specific restaurants but do book newer ships on purpose. I have heard rumors that the Star Princess is going to cruise Alaska so hope that is true as we will book that.

$1,733.00 dollars for 8 hours on a staffed yacht with food and drink does not seem unreasonable. To much for me, but….. I would consider a reasonably priced Uber boat.

Honestly, Barcelona has been my favorite embarkation/debarkation port. I have gone 2 & 3 days early and stayed 2 -3 days after a cruise. It's my opinion, to save my money and NOT visit ports that do not want my tourist money. Bar Harbor, Key West, and now Barcelona are struck from the list of ports to visit. The port in France is a new one to me, and I find it sad that a small ship would be challenged by the "anti-cruisers".

I'm at Disneyland pretty much every Wednesday... except for when I'm cruising. Their food definitely has gone a little more downhill through the years, but I think their prices are pretty decent compared to restaurants in the area… But I do get a 15% discount with my annual pass.😊

Barcelona was a mess with all the construction for their light-rail and if they want to limit cruise ships, why did they build the huge docking areas for who knows how many ships?

here in hawaii the short term rental market is being limited to certain areas and illegal elsewhere. problem is the enforcement. we are dependent on tourism but locals also need rentals to live in so there is no easy solution.
regarding MDR food quality gone are the days where there was no need to book specialty dining as the food and service was wonderful. luminae on the edge now is only slightly better than princess MDR of old.

I can take a hint - if these tourist destinations don't want me there, I'll take myself (and my money) elsewhere.

So do you think all these cruise restrictions could be tied to the many new monster ships that are out there? I don’t even want to be at a port when one comes in and I won’t sail on one. As for Princesses new pizza. I see this as another way to Jack up prices or change Alfredo’s to a specialty restaurant with much higher cost than the current $14.99. Getting really sick of princess wringing more cash out of us. Our next cruise is February and it may be the last one. We have not had good experiences with the specialty restaurants. The Catch was the worst meal I have ever had and the biggest disappointment. And before I get tons of responses saying I don’t know what I am talking about and how wonderful you had it….know it even made my husband Sick. So good for you

What’s the latest on the Princess app. I sail in 9 days. Can not book dining. Had to delete app 3x to get logged in. Then kicked out several times. Finally got to my booking then could not get pass create a booking. Then it froze. After 4x I gave up. I’m afraid we won’t get a dining reservation on the SUN 7/20 sailing in Mediterranean

The cruise ship companies need to wake up. 😢 People are getting poorer, and the only segment who can afford cruises besides the ultra rich are boomers and retired Xers. Honestly. The mega ships will be destined to short carribean trips and most people can only do one of those a year if that, in the younger population.
Viking has it right, building 4 new ships for older adults that only hold 995 passengers. They will be able to go anywhere. No port will restrict them or American Cruise lines. If I were RCL or Carnival or NCL I would start building more mid size ships.
We are soooo excited to go on our first Viking River cruise from Switzerland to Paris for the Olympics at the end of this month!

I think the lines are at a tipping point. All these new mega ships are full and are at astronomical prices. As supply goes up and costs too, people will stop coming. Look at how Disney parks are now. It’s coming to cruising too I think.

Activists, don't get me started on Activists. I marched in the No Nukes protests when I was younger & more ideological. A worthy cause. But today much of it seems more like extremism to me. Those tourists have done nothing to deserve being treated that way in Spain & also France.

You know what? You are right about food venues that serve large crowds. They are not the same quality as a regular restaurant that you would pay a premium price. I feel like we have come to expect too much. 🤨

  • @judydale9661
    @judydale9661 17 วันที่ผ่านมา

I would absolutely try an Uber boat tour!!!!
The protesters in the cities treating the tourist so badly are giving those cities such a bad name, and reputation. I guess eventually if they keep it up, they will get what they want and the cruise ships won’t stop there anymore which means they will lose a ton of revenue. But if that’s what they want, they might get it.

It is time all cruise ships return to great food everywhere onboard, not just try and upsell good food. I do know great food, and the upscale dining is not that great even if they have a well-known chefs name attached to it. That well-known chef standards are not maintained and are never as good as at their own dining venues on land.

I started cruising 40 years ago! I always think of the ship as the destination. Adding the interesting speciality restaurant is a great bonus.

The food at Cindy's in WDW is not great. Mediocre at best. You're paying for the experience and the interaction. The food is almost an afterthought. Even the implausibly, excruciatingly, universally gushingly positive hacks over at Disney Food Blog call it a one-and-done and struggle to say anything nice about what's on the plate. All the good food at Disney is at Epcot and, increasingly, just the resorts.
