  • Airbag Man - high pressure suspension airbag kit - HGT Y62 Patrol build.
As a part of my y62 Patrol suspension upgrades we install an Airbag Man suspension airbag kit. The bags we use are a set of 12” raised bags and high pressure sleeves to match the Dobinson coils specifically from East Coast customs.
This kit is designed to run to 60 psi and be able to balance the changing load that our Patrol will see. Airbag Man have been around for over 25 years and are an Australian owned family business. So you know they are a product you can trust.
I have had a bit of experience with the airbag man high pressure kit in the past. Running them in my last 4wd for years I know they are reliable and work perfectly as you’d expect.
The y62 is a little different being an independent rear suspension vehicle. It is more important that you manage the changing load. Ass increasing the weight actually changes the geometry of the rear tyres. If the suspension is not adjusted accordingly, you will increase wear on the inside of your rear tyres. Intern wearing them out earlier.
The kit is relatively straight forward to install. Consisting of an upper and lower bag seat, airbag, sleeve and airlines. They are a little hard to get inside the coils but with persistence manageable by most.
This is a great modification if you are constantly changing the load in your 4wd. and a must do if you have a rear independent suspension 4wd. for more info check them out at airbagman.com.au/

    Nice work.
I fitted the lifted air bag kit to my patrol but at the time they only had a 2" lift kit bag which are still too short leaving a small gap at the top of the bag and the spring seat. Airbag man have since released an even longer bag for this reason.
I fed the bags in with out the airline attached connected afterwards, didn't have as much trouble.
Don't forgot to use soapy water to check all air line connections for leaks and don't route the lines near the exhaust where possible. 👍

Hey Caleb, did you install those black round cup / pillar protector things that sit at the top of the air and protect the air line going in to the bag? How did you install them? Did you tuck them inside the kevlar bag or did you shove them up into the hole in the car? Mine fall straight back down if i try to push them up into the car..

Im not mechanically minded and really enjoy these vids. I own an MUX and tow infrequently so will look at a set of these soon 👍

It’s easy enough to do it. With my old Fortuner I just dropped the coils it was a bit easier to get them in. Definitely worth doing either way though✌️

Great informative vids ! Apart from the coils and airbags has the Patrol had anything else done to its suspension ?

Thanks mate ✌️nah I had ECC lift it. This job would be easier to do if you take the springs out though

Hey mate, great video! Hoping for your opinion, I just bought a 2021 fortuner and planning on towing a FF camper trailer. Light off roading and beach work is mainly our game. Reckon stock suspension and a set of airbags would suffice or should I be looking at upgrading all suspension?

Hey mate if you’re not going to be loaded up all the time you’ll get away with it. If you’re going to be loaded up you can always get a heavier standard height coil to balance it. It is a good excuse to do suspension as well though ✌️the other thing to consider is forward folds generally have a fair bit of weight in front of the axel making ball weight heavier
