This was my first ride on New Zealand's South Island and it will not be my last, stuck in the UK with mobility/health problems these cab rides enable me to roam the world's railways and I thank the maker of this one for all the hard work and your time. Long may you roll.
Just can't beat that V12 sound !!!
Nice vid. My word how Picton has changed since I took the money and left in 1990. Nice town. We loved the 6 years we had there. It was hard to imagine how the yard looked back in my time there.
How wonderful to see this ride, as an NZR cadet 40 years ago I walked the same rails on a day trip from Wellington. Took me 4-1/2 hours but I wasn't in a great hurry - a lot quicker in the guards van on the way back! It's amazing how little it has changed.
While the cameras position ain’t great.., it’s pretty good representation of the sound / power of granddads mainline/ heavy freight DX locos.. driving…
As you can imagine.. as kid.. I loved going to work and driving these monsters..
I know Casey & Billy love you guys the big gear and farming… they love their Mum n Dad…🌹👸
1:17 WTF is that track.

I've been working on the railroad all the day long. GO Ben !

How did it cross the point @1:55 ????..🙄🙄
Wyn Williams. You can trail through them as he did. They're spring points so they just spring over.
8:04 I actually jumped back for a moment.
Hi any chance of doing a full length video from picton to chch with the mic down near the wheels to get that awesome click clack sound,When the train is running again.
Shot that footage as part of an adverting promotion for Kiwirail. So no chance I can film it :-(
