There indeed is “So much to discover” but also So much to record, share and understand. The physical particles emanate from many an invisible interactions of weak forces that are themselves difficult if not impossible to discern.
It's incredible that with all the hurdles to overcome starting with; coming up with these ideas to begin with, then planning out how to proceed, submitting proposals for acceptance, feasability studies, procurement for funding platforms, availability of placing the right people in the proper positions, coordiniating necessary institutions, suppliers, etc, etc, etc....even BEFORE the tests and results are obtatained! It's quite amazing that something like this can eventually come together at all, but with talented people with the same goals in mind, it goes to show that many great things can be accomplished. Kudos to all involved and best wishes going forward.
As an engineer, I'm amazed that this complex *engineering* project was successfully implemented by amateurs-grad students and postdocs! Then again, I should admit that if you had contracted out to professional engineering firms-of the kind that mostly work with governments-the project would still be ongoing a decade later. And the cost overruns would be orders of magnitude greater than the initial estimate. So ... smart decision doing it inhouse!
In 1973 professor Lowell Brown took our physics class to the cloud chamber at the Univ of Wash. They had discovered the screw on particles. A Chinese professor wanted to name his new particle "the screw off particle", but Lowell had to talk him out of it.
Thank you Dr Harris, I have been wanting to know more about your detectors forever Awesome video, thank you so much. If only the General Public understood what electrical charge means eh ? Maybe some day we could explain it to them properly ? , a proton can have a negative electrical charge , just like an electron can have a positive electrical charge. Relativity rules the Universe! 🙂
@@nHans No , I'm saying the + sink is simply a heavier particle on the C^3 scale making any lighter particle negative, so a photon is -ve compared to an electron and a proton is -ve compared to a neutron.
@@bloodyorphan Ah, I see. You're right, the general public doesn't know this. They don't teach this in any school-they certainly didn't teach it in mine! 😂 Can you refer me to any specific textbooks or websites?
I have videos on my channel showing Neutrinos and electron showers exactly as predicted. Don Lincolns article called "Whats the point" shows a black Fixed particle and a Point particle exactly what I show. The smallest particles are dipoles and IMO they construct everything. We accelerated light thru a venturi and it split into sterile muons and electron showers. The video name is "New Physics Dipole Model Appears Validated". I would like discussion Please?????
Thousands of really quite clever people have worked together for many decades to develop the Standard Model of Particle Physics. I think it behooves you to first demonstrate that you are serious about the whole 'science game' by making the effort to garner at least a degree in geophysics before using your claim that 'rocks look like things' to challenge the status quo. Stay in school! Please!
Good presenter. She actually knows what she's talking about. Getting tired of channels who force a woman on screen for 'equalitys' sake and she's clearly uncomfortable and not familiar with all of the material.
I wouldn't think of Fermilab as a TH-cam channel. Fermilab regularly hosts talks and seminars like this. University departments and other labs do as well. Besides publications they are one of the primary ways in which we communicate and network with each other. Granted, this series is a bit more outward facing, and is therefore less technical, but it's an extension of the same tradition. Anyway, I'm in the MINERvA collaboration along with Dr. Harris. She's one of the big wigs. She's also just one of the many extremely competent and intelligent women who have contributed far more to the collaboration's success than I ever will.
? I couldn't get past "Land acknowledgment" sorry. What empty words. And so smug. 'We're not leaving or anything we're just going to give this acknowledgment'. If you don't intend to leave immediately have the decency to remain silent on it.
I got past it by double tapping on the right side of the video. Don't let yourself get radicalised to the left or right by the latest cultural developments. Take a step back and observe, rationally.
What "woke" BS? You mean like nationalism? Yeah - you're right. Planting an American flag or acknowledging the country / nation /tribe/ confederacy you're from is woke "BS". Just demanding logical consistency.

I have found these progects advance societal brain awareness. I like them for the higher education they provide for those who want to advance.

Does Fermi study large particles or only small particles from proton, neutron destruction?

Obviously, she means the *negatron* rather than the positively-charged electron, the positron.
