The Viking picked up a brand new 2021 Yamaha Raptor 700R SE so we take a first look and discuss some of the essential modifications for new Raptor owners.
Pete hager got me to finally hop off the yfz and buy the trail king. If i had someone to explain how to use my suspension modifying screws id love it. Just a little too high in stance for my 120 lb body.
#1 Steering stabilizer! Had a yfz 450 for 15 years and never thought about it. The raptor spook me going fast in the rough stuff. The stableizer is a game changer
Does 2021 exhaust measurements is the same as 2020. I need to buy one for my raptor 2021 se. But on the website im planing on buying they only have the exhaust until 2020???
Slap a case saver, set of handguards and a team wax sticker on it. Thats all you’ll need!! Super nice ride, miss my 17. It really impressed me! Vortex is developing an ECU for the raptor 700 so keep an eye on that

Cannot beat these new Raptor 700Rs! Best big bore high- performance sport quad ever built. Hard to find em. Lucky to get it out the door for $11-12k in '22. Nuts. -Ohio
I know this piece of equipment is expensive but I would've included a Precision Steering Stabilizer because they just make the machine ride so so much better.

That specific one ended up totaled 🤦♂️.. It took a few months to find a replacement but he eventually found one.. Im finishing the build on mine this weekend hopefully then we'll do an update on all 3 because they've all changed quite a bit since the last time they were on camera 🤘
I asked about the hook, they had the trickle charger cable going through it. I'm not sure if that is what it is for but that was what they were using it for here in California. They didn't say anything different as far as emissions.
Love your channel and this video has some excellent info, even for non-Raptor riders. Do you have a source for the piggyback oil drain plug that you reference (for a TRX450R preferably). Thank you and keep up the great content!
Love my 2020 Raptor 700r S E …. Stock tune is very lean and makes them run sooo hot. First mod should be the Dyno Jet PCv . Mod and tune as you add intake..exhaust and other stuff. The inexpensive (sold on Amazon) 3/4” bar riser kit made my stock bars feel pretty good.
@@DirtObseXXion I went with the Pro Design/K&N…. And the Monster exhaust with the longer can. Seemed loud at first but now it sounds as normal….proving you get used to everything after a little while. PC-V tweaking fuel and ignition maps got rid of the engine heat and a lot of the decel popping. I started with the Sparks Racing mapping and it just got better with every tweak / tune adjustment.
@@jameseargle123 The Monster is LOUD.. Sounds good tho! Did you do the AIS delete? That helps with the decel popping even when everything else is stock.
@@DirtObseXXion yes…. Did the A.I.S. delete as one of the first things. You just can’t get rid of all of the pops but I am really close. The main thing I was after was 1st… get the engine heat/too lean condition under control and 2nd … tune out the aggravating popping. You will hit a point of good tune vs. a little pop here or there. I’m really happy with mine now. Heat is gone and runs so much better than stock. Building maps with the PC-V is a blast once you get a handle on what your looking for and what works.
Why the parking brake delete ? I haul in a toy hauler and like the peace of mind that’s if the tie downs come loose it’s not going to bounce around too bad , if you haul in gear you are wearing out a few teeth in first gear.

No changes and the price raises every year...but damn I'd like to have one...had a yfz450, so I know what I'm missing, actually I'd probably like it more cus of the low end torque...hill climbing is such a rush ...i gotta 21 kodiak 700 brand new last year, and did all the clutch mods and it's so fun in the mud with a cooler and beer...I got skids, 30 inch tires, barkers slip on and tuner..but gosh damn I wanna fast quad again...nothing like hauling the mail everywhere! Y'all stay safe and Braap on son!!
Welcome to the Raptor 700r club! If i may suggest. Watch my video on the second round of mods on mine. The Glann innovations skid plate is a must have. I promise you will love it and never get an aluminum skid plate again. Best 109$ i ever spent. I also have the cuero racing drain plug reducer and AIS delete. I also run his map on my PCV
No, power doesn't increase after break in.. But take the air box lid off and it will increase by around 4hp. Do the big 3 and it increases by around 10-12hp. That's when it starts to feel like a lot, especially in the top end with a decent fuel map. You can dig into the motor if you still need more after that.. A raptor can probably make 65-70hp reliably with the right mods.
@@hondarider100r I just did an Empire Full System with Dynojet PCV and Fuel Customs Intake... Huge difference, but it was pricey compared to the route you're going. You might want to entertain the idea of an intake mod if you're still not happy with the power. The stock one is pretty restrictive.. But I'll also tell you I rode my stock for almost two years and other than a slight delay in the throttle response, it was pretty good for 90+% of riding.
Just keep it and put it back on if you need warranty work.. A Warranty on a Raptor is just burning money.. The motors are absolutely bulletproof.. The AIS is air induction, it pulls air in to mix with the exhaust to dilute emissions.. I don't think it really hurts anything, but it causes an annoying pop on deceleration
It's all on Ebay.. Cuervo stuff, Skid plates, case savers, stabilizers, bars, wheels and tires.. It's all easiest to find on Ebay right now.. online retail stores and manufacturers websites are frustrating because they advertise shit they're out of..
The AIS delete is to stop popping and backfiring after you have done the big three so maybe you should have listed The Big Three first? My list would be case saver the big3 AIS delete tires skid plate handlebars
It stops the popping on a stock exhaust as well, especially on deceleration.. We do the big 3 first too, but tried to cover budget friendly priorities.. Good list! I have the Raptor bend protapers but I think I'm gonna switch to flexx bars.. The Raptor bend is too wide if you don't cut them..
I had a Yamaha YFZ 450 years ago and loved it. The new raptor 700’s look so fun. Are they comfortable enough to ride for someone with lower back pain here and there? I have a compressed disk from years ago.
They're by far the most comfortable sport atv ever made.. I have a bad back too, I can ride a Raptor all day.. Sometimes I pay for it if I ride hard, but hell that happens on a 4x4 too..

I had a Honda rancher 4x4 a while back that I took on a trail ride once and it killed my back. It had a solid rear axle and rode like a tank. I was convinced if I ever got another wheeler that I would need I independent rear suspension but maybe not?
@@kylellcottle9897 Those Honda's are STIFF.. It's hard to say if you're gonna be ok with a Raptor.. Depends on how you personally ride and how bad your back is.. To me, it'd be worth a shot because they're so much more fun than anything with 4x4 or IRS..

id get a Glann innovations case saver. wouldnt go cheap on that. get the best and its onl 60 bucks. that was my firdt mofld for my yfz. had a cheapo case saver and the chain broke and still wrapped around the front sprket and got wedged between the swing arm. happened at a high speed i got lucky my case didnt crack. took that cheap ass case saver off and bought a glann case saver. best thing i ever did. oh get the chain slide that goes with it too. they work together

I have been riding atv's a long time, I started on a trailboss in 1996, then moved up to a 450 foreman in 2001 and now ride a yamaha grizzly i bought new in 2015. I have ridden outlanders, king quads, rubicons, fourtrax, kawi kvf 650 but whats a common denominator here?, No manual clutches, I have never ridden a quad with a manual clutch before, now in saying that, I have wanted a raptor since they came out, Would they be too much bike to learn on? My truck is paid off in June so i can take on another toy lol.
They're ideal to learn on.. Very forgiving clutch because the torque will pull you without even applying throttle.. I'd say They're easier to ride than any other manual ATV or motorcycle I've ever been on..
If you get the gytr belly skid, it rolls up on the side of the frame which I like but you can’t use bolt on nerf bars like “tusk” you gotta buy the style that passes threw the frame. I ordered the tusk and made that mistake. Anyway cool vid, bought a 2020 se last august. Love it!
We have 12, 14, and 16ft trailers but you could easily use an 8fter for a Raptor.. If you're asking to determine what size you should get, I'd recommend at least a 12ft because you're gonna have buddies that don't have trailers or your gonna want to only take one vehicle on a trip...

It drags pretty quick after you use it just alittle.
You can't swing the lever when you put hand guards on.. That's a good point about hauling, but we use trax lock that sinches down on the tire

id get a Glann innovations case saver. wouldnt go cheap on that. get the best and its onl 60 bucks. that was my firdt mofld for my yfz. had a cheapo case saver and the chain broke and still wrapped around the front sprket and got wedged between the swing arm. happened at a high speed i got lucky my case didnt crack. took that cheap ass case saver off and bought a glann case saver. best thing i ever did. oh get the chain slide that goes with it too. they work together

I have been riding atv's a long time, I started on a trailboss in 1996, then moved up to a 450 foreman in 2001 and now ride a yamaha grizzly i bought new in 2015. I have ridden outlanders, king quads, rubicons, fourtrax, kawi kvf 650 but whats a common denominator here?, No manual clutches, I have never ridden a quad with a manual clutch before, now in saying that, I have wanted a raptor since they came out, Would they be too much bike to learn on? My truck is paid off in June so i can take on another toy lol.
They're ideal to learn on.. Very forgiving clutch because the torque will pull you without even applying throttle.. I'd say They're easier to ride than any other manual ATV or motorcycle I've ever been on..
If you get the gytr belly skid, it rolls up on the side of the frame which I like but you can’t use bolt on nerf bars like “tusk” you gotta buy the style that passes threw the frame. I ordered the tusk and made that mistake. Anyway cool vid, bought a 2020 se last august. Love it!

What size trailer do you use for that ATV the 700r.
We have 12, 14, and 16ft trailers but you could easily use an 8fter for a Raptor.. If you're asking to determine what size you should get, I'd recommend at least a 12ft because you're gonna have buddies that don't have trailers or your gonna want to only take one vehicle on a trip...
How are nerf bars not essential? all fun and games till your leg goes under a tire

We had issues with the ARSFX Suspension. They're fixing it, as soon as they're done!!! Doing a build on anything during covid has been pretty awful.
