The MDA Labor Day Telethon was an enchanting yearly variety show that ran for half a century. Hosted for many years by Jerry Lewis, the telethon featured top stars from the world of music, comedy, and Broadway and was like no other show on earth.

Lewis was a man of lights and shadows. Here he's pleading for the kids with distrophy, but was horrible to his own kids and a jerk to everyone else.
Jerry should always be remembered for his passion to help those kids who were born into less fortunate, devastating circumstances. It takes a unique personality to dedicate the majority of your life to such a cause. The unrelenting drive to conquer something so debilitating to precious lives. We all have missteps, hiccups, and imperfections. Any attempt to tarnish his legacy by focusing on those humanly qualities instead of his superhuman generosity is itself, a misstep.

But stop repeating the same bullshit over and over again! Jerry is hated because he is Jewish! Dean Martin wasn't better than him, he didn't even make a will! He abandoned his first wife Betty and his first four children when they were still children!! Betty didn't drink, she became an alcoholic AFTER she lost a husband and her children! His story was rewritten after his death to make him seem like a saint and he wasn't a saint! Read Tosches' book about him! Jerry had his flaws LIKE ALL OF US, ARE YOU PERFECT? But Jerry never hid his flaws, he made mistakes like everyone else, Dean Martin on the other hand (and his publicists) always hid his sins! Read Chris Lewis' book that he just published about his father! You are parrots! Jerry for better or for worse has dedicated his life to the Telethon DEAN MARTIN WHAT HAS HE DONE FOR OTHERS???
