Thanks so much for watching! Just remember it's Patrons who make this all happen, consider joining up for tons of perks and to keep little ol me going ^^
The darkest One Piece movie, but that also made it awesome. The artstyle was unique but blended well with One Piece, and it hits you like a nostalgia wave if you were a 90s-00s kid that watched the Digimon Movie. Plus that final punch is underrated, much like Nami in that black dress...
ah yes mamoru hosoda's contribution to the one piece series, nightmare fuel galore, though to be fair the race does remind me of a similar one they did in the 5th pokemon movie at least in terms of setup
this movie is fucking wild, but it's that insane dark twist and eerie vibe that cemented it in my top 3 One Piece movies pretty much instantly. i had a binge night with my best friend once he had watched all of the show where we met up in the morning and watched every One Piece movie in order, and this one was the one that he couldn't stop talking about afterwards.
Let's just be honest here tbh this movie executed the horror aspect of anime so well tbh making it more subtle and more eery is a nice change from other horror based anime I never thought I'd say a one piece movie would be one of the best executions of horror in anime but I guess I was suprised
I was looking forward to Water 7 continuation. Wasn’t expecting this upload on my birthday bingo! This is a plus! 🥳 This was “the” One Piece movie before Oda took the Helm in writing films
I didn't remember this movie off top of my head till the flower talked. Then I become Mr. Incredible in the memes. Where he gets all black and white and covered in dread
I really liked this movie due to how different it was. I mean mind control flower parasites... WTH man. Would love to see these thingsbe a big reveal in the manga at some point... or something similar.
IT'S HERE!!! MY FAVORITE MOVIE!!!! I can't watch horror but this is SO GOOD!!! Someone on youtube once made a very interesting video about horror in one piece. Using this movie, they talked about the unsettleling feeling of emptiness surounding the festival, with Chopper's point of view and how wrong it is to see the crew actualy having a "fall out". AND RIGHT BEFORE WATER SEVEN!!!!! I forgot the name of the youtuber who made the video but the video was like litteraly "Horror in One Piece" or something. edit : moreover, only luffy remembers what happened. And it makes me SO SAD!
This movie was particularly good to me, and I’m normally not somebody who goes for horror/thriller stuff at all. But what I really appreciate is every single scene felt like a real place, from the ocean sounds on the merry, the casual weather effects just happening, to the Strawhats running around the pool and resort area. All of the setpieces felt lived in and had a weight to them, like they were a location you could actually go visit. Also, the ‘Show-don’t-tell’ in the storytelling was masterful
I love this movie so much, how different and unique it is. But especially how in hindsight it inspires many scenes in the future from Toei's adaptation. My favorite scene has to be Sanji cooking, he finally gets Nami's attention there 🤣
I wish you added the part between zoro and sanji getting more intense than usual after the boating scene, also how sanji said he could starve. Sanji of all people wouldn’t let his worst enemy starve bc of his past. It adds to the element of off putting that the writers know the characters so well even in this movie. Still though I love your content and wish this doesn’t find you in malice but in enjoyment of the series.
This movie goes to show that if One Piece wanted to.. it could be one of the best horror anime. Oda just chooses to make all a fun pirate manga with some sadness and messed up stuff here and there
I absolutely LOVE this movie, I adore the squiggly artstyle, I love the plot bc it's so interesting but also really functions well as a stand alone movie, and the end is insane but also shows just how MUCH Luffy loves his crew

I like to imagine this as just being a nightmare Luffy had after the ordeals of LRLL and Robin’s near death experience with Aokiji, a bad dream about if losing his crew in competition and to a monstrous power beyond reckoning went to its furthest extremes
Mamoru Hosoda is the art director for this movie He also worked on The Digimon Movie and The Girl Who Leaped Through Time among others that i dont recall
A few personal wins of mine I wanted to add- 1. That ‘HUUUH?” from Zoro that became a meme 2. Sanji being catty and petty with his little comments when he saw how impressed they all were with the other chef was funny as hell 3. I like how they all instantly recognised the kid was wearing Usopp’s hat and immediately freaked out. There wasn’t a slow sequence of them realising it is the same hat, it was just pure instinct that something was wrong. Also Nami’s guilty face when she feels bad that something might have happened to him after she pushed him away - it was subtle but good 4. Zoro’s little curly fro after his hair got fried looked surprisingly good 5. Almost cried when the little girl was telling her dad how proud she was for being brave…and she fiddles with the wedding ring on his necklace. Like damn, you could have just said ‘since mom died’ but the slow realisation of something you could have already guessed from their situation hit so damn hard
I was looking forward to see you review this gem! Among all One Piece movies this one is just so UNIQUE! Especialy since its directed by Mamoru Hosoda (Wolf Children, Boy and teh Beast, Belle) and got that vibe where the animation and the dialogues flow so naturaly. The creepy climax is for me the icing on the cake. (also this is the first time, confirmed, that Luffy actualy KILLED the main villain)
Wake up dudes, peak movie just dropped. But for real this movie adapts the horror elements so well by combining elements from the Shining and Midsommar into one. There is a pretty good movie analysis by melontee here on youtube. Also there is a pretty good mini fanfic continuation story where the strawhats leave the island and each member vaguely remembering stuff from the island trying to get answers from luffy but he shrugs them all off not to burden them with the horrors he went through.
In hindsight, it's cool that Daisy's powers totally work in relation to what we now know as observation haki, which was very far off from being a thing in canon.
As you'll soon see in the main story; they nailed this vibe at the right time; proving that One Piece can go dark when it needs to and yet maintain that goofy quality its always had. Not counting the big budget behemoths of Film Gold and Strongworld and Film Red and Film Z or Stampede, this is my fave movie on merit of plot and progression alone. If it had been dolled up like them it'd easily be number 1. Red Gold Z Strong World This movie Stampede For order of fave movies... Stampede is amazing for what it is but it suffers the reverse issue of its looks are why it maintains such a high position. Its story is good but the weakest element to me. Strongworld only edges ahead because the character Shiki is in it; and that character alone being cannon causing Oda issues is just hilarious to me. well the top 3 are there for a reason and you might agree once you have seen them. If the next OP movie somehow takes a spot in the top 3 I will be surprised.
my favourites are Omatsuri, Z, Strong world and Gold, they have such STELLAR animation and some of the best villains! Stempede felt a little dissappointing to me mostly cuz the villain was.... meh? The movie itself tho was a "Where's Waldo" of cameos and I loved it xD
The next movie is - the mechanical island? You should cover Episode of East Blue , Episode of Merry , Episode of Skypia , and some of the ovas - jangas dance carnival , edo era one piece , romance dawn v1/ not v2 that is with the blue hair silk . Also u better skip movie 8 and 9 But movie 8 is better since franky and robin are added - which is what i think netflix gonna do since oda wrote some of movie 8 . Chopper will be the last to join , season 2 . Franky will be a surprise like in galley la and theyll introduce a shipwright early , robin is confirmed to in little garden but its possible she will appear at loguetown. Movie 9 is just movie version alabasta with half the arc skipped to the start of the battle .
I believe it was said the writers made sure to follow the manga as much as possible, so I imagine while they want to introduce some characters earlier, it won't be in any plot-altering way. I wouldn't be surprised if they just have some scenes happening at Crocodile's, likely to foreshadow the upcoming events and all, maybe even keep his face hidden like classic villain scenes.
Thanks so much for watching! Just remember it's Patrons who make this all happen, consider joining up for tons of perks and to keep little ol me going ^^

I love Hosoda's artstyle so much
Honestly, if I was Luffy, I would’ve lost my sanity here.
Ah yes… One Piece the Horror Movie. My favorite of all the One Piece movies.

Probably my favorite once piece movie. Its so different yet doesn't lose a drop of the main stories heart. Its absolutely wild.

Same art style as Digimon the Movie. This is also one of my favorite One Piece moves ever made. It is so good!

Oh man this movie shook me to my core when I first saw it. One of my favorite animation styles too. Happy OP Saturday everyone!

Saw the notification and gasped. This movie is an experience

Ah this was definitely the most saddening and upsetting of the One Piece movies

AMAZING! OP saturdays are awesome! You're the Best ❤❤❤❤
This movie is a diamond in the rough. I love the dark theme

Oh no, this movie.... traumatized so many fans but it's still so impactful. Certainly nice to have a genre shift every now and then.
I love showing this movie to newer fans just to see there horrified faces lol
I'd love to find more movies in this style, the only one I can think of is Lu Over The Wall
Where can I watch Baron Omatsuri and the secret island? I been trying but I can't find it anywhere 😭
In hindsight, it's cool that Daisy's powers totally work in relation to what we now know as observation haki, which was very far off from being a thing in canon.

its too bad Episode of Backfight is lost to time. It had new animation in it of stuff Toei cut from the foxy arc.

@@MrKlausbaudelaire the episode list that they released has all the way up to drum kingdom, no alabasta
yeah
That fucking Movie Poster lied to me...!
Hot take, this might of traumatized luffy more than marineford (i know its not canon)
Bump
Why can’t I find it? There’s no trace of it online what so ever. What gives?
first one to view and comment
Where is my water 7 review?! 😠
Oh geez... THIS movie... 😅😬
For context, I've never liked horror 😅
