@@kelj4517 2019 Toyota RAV4 is currently rated below-average reliability by Consumer Reports, and the customer reviews are terrible on Edmund's source. More MPG = Less Durable, due to flimsier and more lightweight construction quality in Toyotas only to boost MPG ratings. New Toyotas don't last as long as the old ones now, and it requires extra caution now, since some new Chevrolet models scored higher in JD Power initial quality than Toyota models. It wasn't like this 20 years ago, of course. Trend has shifted... Chevrolet Trax 6-speed transmission will last longer than Toyota RAV4 8-speed transmission.

GM has too many SUVs, but they almost hit the nail on the head with this one. It looks so good ! If they wouldve given this a bigger engine, it woulda been all that alot of people would need. The size is great for what it is, but no one wants an engine thats not gonna last. Theres no replacement for displacement. AWD even wouldve been a plus in some environments, but the engine is just puzzling. They shouldve just kept the Trailblazer as a Bronco size/competitor. Especially since this is bigger than the Trailblazer now.

I am generally not a fan of SUV's. None can match the looks of the more stylish cars, and they don't handle as well, or provide great gas mileage (unless you pay more and get a hybrid version). Also, most are way overpriced-- the dealers mark them up and make more of a profit on them.
With that being said, this new Trax is one of the most stylish SUV's I've ever set eyes on. On top of that, it gets decent (not great) gas mileage, an ok amount of power, a great price , and (supposedly) it's fun to drive. Also, they stuck with a traditional 6sp auto, instead of the dreaded, droning CVT.
Reliability is the gray area, especially with the 3 cylinder turbo engine. Regardless, I think Chevy not only knocked it out of the park, with this one, but it travelled 2-3 blocks beyond the stadium!

When there is more than the driver, that engine's available power is going to dissipate quickly. Yes GM had a three cylinder before it was called the Chevy sprint, and yes they did make a Chevy sprint turbo. All you have to do is drive it really hard and then just turn it off you will fry the turbo. Most people do not know this and it will never make 100,000 miles. The bearing will burn out in the turbo it’s only a matter of time.

It is a truly affordable city everyday commuter that gives you many of the bells and whistles of other top of the line trims and models. Even still, a fully loaded trailblazer is going to be close to 10,000 more than a fully loaded trax.

Tbh, this reinforces my fact that getting my 2023 Corolla Cross was way better, and it is a base model one. Granted, it is a couple more grand expensive, but the reliability of Toyota and the updates to the 2023 model year make it absolutely trash the trax and even trailblazer. Will be a decent fleet car, though! Hopefully, the 3 cylinder engine doesn't hog down the vehicle with reliability issues.

    • @chynacash3138

How does your Corolla Cross "trash" this car? Both have pros and cons but unless you have the hybrid model or prioritize AWD then I don't think the Toyota offers much, if any, more value than this car at all... Both get similar MPG (although the CC does get the nod overall), both have similar performance (which is to say "slow"), and both offer similar equipment for their respective prices - I'd subjectively even say the Trax looks significantly cooler than the Corolla Cross too, inside and out, but that is subjective like I said - If I planned to keep a car past 150k miles or so then yeah of course the Toyota wins hands down, but aside from that I don't see how the Corolla Cross "trashes" this car, it just seems like saying that makes you feel better about your purchase.
