All 4 of my grand parents and both of my parents were born in Fitchburg. An old family story my dad had told me, was his grandfather, Francois Xavier Morin (immigrated from Quebec) was a charter member and helped get donations to build St Josephs, Church. In St. Josephs 75th Diamond Anniversary book, one chapter also has this information.

Karrie is quite certain she has seen his name mentioned in MANY of the records. I think we can find much more to work from in those anniversary books....we wish we had more records!

My mother's maiden name is Bennett and she's from Fitchburg! Many of the men on that side of the family worked in the same mills Ms. Bennett is speaking of, and they all immigrated from quebec, new brunswick, and pei. I wonder if her and I are cousins!

@@cunningstunt1234 did you know my father only made it to 4th grade. He then went to work in one of those mills. And Cecil was a bobben spinner in high school, his hands were always all chewed up It was a tough place to work. Can you imagine all those little kids hands? Poor things! Aren't you glad you weren't born in those day's?
