Thanks for doing the comparison on the two units. Very helpful! I have the River Pro with the expansion battery and have had to use them during power outages. I've have it all set and ready to go for our Fridge and Freezer should the power go out. I do like the fact they upgraded the batteries and increased the Wh besides the solar voltage, that's a biggie but not enough for me to upgrade. I do have the River Pro Max in steady use as a ups for my PC's, 3 running at the same time and without any glitches when the power has gone out. Like you've said in your videos many times, is know what your power usage needs are. Thanks for what you do and keep up the good work, it's so very helpful.
I just purchased a second extra battery for the River Pro. I do like the ability it has to add batteries to expand capacity. I also own a Delta Max 2000 with 2 extra batteries.
Dude,, massiv thanks for all your super videos. I got the River Max OG.with 110W🌞panel. Thinking about getting a River 2 Pro. Perfect for mountainbiker vanlife 👌 I very much appreciate your channel 🙏 so thanks again, and have a happy Easter 🐰🐣
Thank you for this great video! Definitely is clear now that there's zero reason to upgrade from the River pro to the River 2 pro! What were they thinking? So many missed opportunities for greatness! 🤪
The 3.5x life span of the unit's battery and the more than double warranty is why I just ordered the Pro 2. Cost wise, they were exactly the same. For those not digging the loss of the extra battery port, why not just buy a second less powerful head unit when you need a bit more power? At least that way, you just doubled your ports and can more easily split where you need your power -- such as traveling in a party of two or more vehicles, not having long enough extension cords from a single unit position, etc.
@dimension13xproductions80 Problem is the River 2 pro is only 768wh So you’d be lucky to get 45mins of runtime , you need a larger battery. How many hours would you like it to run?
@dimension13xproductions80 I’d recommend this and the nice part is it’s also expandable, but the cost is not bad and the batteries if you maintain them will last for years th-cam.com/video/tvdsITwG_OQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=BMHHdEQxhHG3ibg8
Question, I already own a delta pro max, and am looking for a smaller unit to keep with my rv when camping, we have grid power there, not boondocking. What would you suggest with all the other Ecoflow options like the mini, I was looking at the River 2 pro.
If you’re gonna spend the money, honestly, I would tell you to get a Delta 2, It can handle more solar and it’s expandable. If you need it down the road it gives you that option. Check out our video if you have time. th-cam.com/video/tvdsITwG_OQ/w-d-xo.html
I just purchased the River 2 pro and waiting for delivery I believe this unit will give me enough power for lights, tv, a small microwave , a coffee maker and a small toaster oven for quite a few hours. If power is out longer, I own a Honda generator that I could power up for our furnace, fridge and stand up freezer.
Be careful with your expectations around a coffee maker and a microwave you would be very surprised not only how much power they use but also the surge. I'll provide a link to my full review th-cam.com/video/h735FBa9uvo/w-d-xo.htmlsi=QwqVfyEMZNbx83m1
Thank you. I recall you mentioning that you had destroyed a coffee maker at one time with the EcoFlow . Prior to buying the pro, I checked my coffee maker and it’s 1000 watts and my small microwave at 900 watts. I should be safe, but I will take it easy just in case. Thank you for your videos. I found them very informative and a pleasure to watch.
Thanks for the great review and comparison. Quick question is there any difference between the two series regarding the functionality with using the Ecoflow as a UPS .. so using it in-line and not having to pull out plugs of your devices while it’s charging ? I gather the new 2 series has an auto switch over should the mains power go down. With other brands of portable power stations one usually has to invest in an . Automatic Inverter Switch so was hoping you don't need this with the River 2 Pro ? I presume one can charge the EF via a solar panel in the field and at the same time power up your devices and not have to wait until the EF is charged ?
Many thanks, so I can keep the devices plugged into the EF when it's charging be it from the mains or the solar panel. I read this info from our local EF outlet which got me worried .. '' ‘’Power Stations are not intended to be used as an In-Line UPS an always-on, pass-through solution. It isn’t advised to use the device while charging or to leave it always plugged in, as this can cause reduced battery performance and shorter lifespan Power Stations are warning not to be uses as an In-Line UPS’’
Is the AC charging cord for the River Pro the same gauge as the one for the River 2 Pro? The insert is the same but the River 2Pro cord feels heavier. It is marked as 14 awe, the River Pro cord does not have any awg label.
Solar input on the river 2 pro is very disappointing. I would think with the voltage allowances it should be 300 mini. The delta mini is 300 and that’s only slightly less watt hours than this new unit.

I'm new to all of this. I recently got solar and Im researching and considering the River series as a start while saving up for further whole home back up later. I work from home and have my work area with 2 monitors, laptop, iPhone fast charger, etc. If I lose power, do I need to plug in each device individually, or can I plug the surge protector strip they are on into the River Pro or 2 ? I'm just trying to figure out how this wld work out. Thank you to anyone who can share some info with this newby.
You want to confirm the wattage your devices use and make sure the device can power them 1st. Then you want to get a big enough battery to be able to run the devices for the time you need them to, plus you can charge via solar at the same time which is awesome. If you have the $ I’d recommend this, it also offers a add on battery for longer run time th-cam.com/video/tvdsITwG_OQ/w-d-xo.html
*@**8:14** Wrong ! The River 600 series solar generators support devices pulling up to 1800 Watts when using X-Boost, not 1200 Watts. The River 600 series supports 1200 Watt surge voltage. @**12:30** Wrong again ! The River 600 series solar generators sport a Car Lighter Output of 136 Watts, not 96 Watts. The River Pro has a regulated 13.6 Volts DC output rated @ 10 Amps, or 136 Watts. I own the River 600 MAX edition, and I'm very happy with its overall performance.*
Careful! Marketing department seems to have a lot of influence in the information material EF distributes. 1800watts could be the combination of 1200W and another outlet at 600W, they have other products with the same marketing and you have to dig in to see that the 1800W is actually split.
Extra Battery on the bottom lopsided (handle looking towards you, the base against the wall); then the River 2 Pro in the middle (sitting on the extra battery). The River Pro sits on top of the River 2 Pro, connected to the extra battery with the special cable & delivering 100 W through its output_only USB_C to the River 2 Pro. Each River unit gets feed from independent ~200 W solar panels (one oriented to the east, the other to the west). All consumers feed from the River 2 Pro; the River Pro & its battery only lose power (from the USB_C & its integrated light), when its solar input goes lower than 100 W. -> This way the 2 Lithium Ion batteries only discharge at night (when is actually needed), going fewer effective cycles per year than the LFP battery of the River 2 [that can also charge from the wall].

And charge one with the roof solar and the other off the portable solar?? Is this right?
I have two River Pros, and I will probably keep using them rather than upgrading. I expect the difference in cycle life is a mix of Ecoflow not being confident in LiPO4 right when it launched and the fast charging. There probably is a difference in lifespan, but I doubt it's over 2000 cycles when properly used. The flat top and bu-directional USB delivery are good upgrades. The problem I've had is app support. Both units I have do not want to firmware upgrade for some reason, which locks the use of the app.
The lifespan is real. Every manufacturer is showing the same lifespan with their LiFePO4 batteries. The trade off is the excessive weight. For me, I only use my River for emergencies or the occasional work remote situation, so I've only cycled it six times in nine months. 800 cycles will outlast me. I'd rather have the light weight. LOL
@@TechMadeEzy No, I opted for a second unit instead of the expanded battery. The cost and capacity is almost the same, but two units gives you the option to split up or rotate one off. On the whole I think I got my money's worth out of them, but I also need them less than I expected.
