I love how Robert Smith was like "No we're The Cure of the 80's". That's what makes The Cure so good, they have a good imagination and don't need to be compared to anyone, they're their own unique band.

To be fair, they were a big stadium band by the end of the 80's...
Their sound also massively evolved after the first 2 albums.
They were punk/post punk at the start, very raw and energitic compared to the goth sound they became famous for.

Clearly, the 80's, especially 1980-1982 was the best years for me with the Cure. Seventeen seconds, Faith and Pornography, these 3 albums are so great. And later, more later, Disintegration was in the same way, it's just my own opinion. Thanks so much for this video, I love it.

I think in the early days The Cure were more readily accepted by the French and the Dutch more than even their home turf in the UK. In fact even places as far as Australia and New Zealand got their music in ways that clearly were more receptive than their native land.

You know watching this video I suddenly get why the drummer eventually switched over to keys...but this is super grooved in locked in tight. Anyways Im sure it gets tiresome and not really that sustainable way of playing but Its super awesome to see and pretty hardcore to play night after night....that set is really like 20 minutes of 4/4 straight playing and can get quite murderous...i know he also just got really into keyboards too but just saying I didnt realize they the rhythm section got into this kind of precision.
