I don't agree with him calling world champions are not GMs bcoz of their ratings, but back then chess wasn't about ratings it was beautiful game which is ruined by memorize lines, all theory and engines. I enjoy older games more than newer ones
Thank you Agad! I’m so happy you could analyse this game I suggested! I first saw it in a very old chess book of mine and since then it has become one of my favourite games ever. Thanks to you many other people can now enjoy this beautiful game!!

When I first heard that quote, I was told it as a sign of extreme arrogance by Bogolyubov. However, I found out later that it's more a play on words, that he's kinda "blessed by God", or since he "loves God", that he got a win with Black. So if anything, it was a self-deprecating joke, not an arrogant statement as it's often portrayed.
The correct Russian pronunciation of Alekhine is actually the way Agad pronounces it. Alekhine himself hated it when people pronounced the e in his name as ё (yo) and considered it a distortion of his name. In recent times people like Levy Rozman have further popularized the incorrect pronunciation, leading many to believe it's "more correct."
True, Efim is pronounced Yefim though). In Soviet chess literature Alekhine was written down through yo, but you have to remember - Alekhine was not friend with Soviet:)

I watched paul morphys sagas and i also read the book about him very interesting. I am curious to see more games and stories from old chess legends, they had only their pure talent Ofcours also new games from tournaments are a great show to watch them and to keep up to date with the best players and the best plays.
