These Baits Catch Bass When It's Hot In August!

  • These baits get bit in spite of the heat! You've got to try them! If you're struggling to get bit, it's time to downsize. We're at the beginning of a trend that will last all the way into Fall. Juvenile baitfish are beginning to show up in your lake, they'll become more prevalent in the coming months and you need to be ready. Catch bass around them by downsizing your presentation!
We love power fishing! We love swimbaits, topwater, and large creature baits, but we also understand when it's time to put them down. As the heat of August sets in, smaller profiles will save your fishing. Don't be afraid to try these tiny soft plastics and hard baits when the going gets tough.
Below you'll find links to our favorite baits for this time period. We've included our favorite colors, rigging components, as well as the gear we use to fish them effectively. All the links go directly to Tackle Warehouse where you can see detailed photos and descriptions of each item.

I’ve been using my curado bfs since it came out. It’s caught over a 1,000 fish, but it gave up this year. So I bought a set of Bocca bearings and removed two of the magnets and gave her a good cleaning. That thing casts like a bullet now. It’s a whole new reel.

@@richardkeller6940 Pull the side plate off and just stick something magnetic next to the magnet with a mark by it. They’ll pull right out. One on either side, both have marks next to them.

113 degree heat index today at Lake Fork. We’re fishing shallow early and late near creeks. Popping frogs in the grass before daylight. During the day deeper creeks, deep ledges etc… but always a Texas rig 10” worm or drop shot a 5”: If we catch 5-6 nice ones it’s a good day. Yes we get skunked occasionally but when we find a group of 8 lb bass it’s worth fishing in the heat. Happy fishing ya’ll😎

Tim my buddy got me one of those neck fans about a month ago for helping him out with some yard work/repairs, totally recommend it for both you and Matt! Keeps me so much cooler on the water, at work, at the house, I love that thing. I’m like you, I sweat a ton and it gets in my eyes, well, everywhere lol, and I gotta say it’s made a noticeable difference in the quality of my time on the water, it’s still hot, especially being in Texas, but it’s at least bearable a little bit longer with that

I’ve got a small clear lake near me that’s gets pounded. It does have a lot of nice sized bass though. I’ve been trying to figure it out and then the light bulb went off. You don’t see much or any activity during the day, so I went at night. That lake was alive at night. I think those fish have figured out that night time is safer. Not only did I catch some good ones but I got a surprise 5lb walleye. They haven’t been stocked there 2002.

Just back from surf fishing in Mexico for 6 weeks. Good times! That said, I’m looking forward to bass fishing again…. Being from So Cal, this means waiting until mid October to mid March! If it wasn’t for you and Matt, I would have never added blade baits ( Damiki Vaults ) to my arsenal nor would I be catching huge bass on big swim baits! Looking forward to your Fall and Winter videos! Been a subscriber since Matt was in his basement! Love and respect 💪🏻🎣

That sucks. I totally know the feeling. My two favorite small ponds out here in the desert are dead now too. One was allowed to completely dry up one year, killing everything. That one used to be a guaranteed 30+ fish morning. The other had the tailings from an old mine washed into it during a massive rain storm and the resulting algae bloom killed everything. That one had numbers but had some giants in it too.

Would you feel less like youre being marketed to if they mentioned like “if you havent seen our how to dropshot video click the link” ? I understand your point, entirely, i just dont know what they could do. If the “how to tie a palomar” videos got more views, theyd flood their channel with that. But lots, and i mean LOTS of people come to this channel like “hey tim, hey matt, whatcha catchin em on?” And they tell you.
