In terms of her relationship with Spencer, I never liked how the writers did it. One moment she's nice to him, then when Spencer becomes himself (prattling off excitedly about something he's interested in) JJ shuts him off rudely. Like, the others aren't exactly in the mood for that all of the time and sometimes are like "Reid, not now", but JJ's snappish attitude when she doesn't want to talk to Spence sets me off.
Reid asked her if she was a mean girl because she said she didn't remember who her tormentors were. If you had them, you never forget. ( and given what he knows about her background, he made an assumption)
Sean Gannon yeah but she said she didn't remember who they were. Not that she didn't have any. And Reid knows it's practically impossible to "forget" who your tormentors were. So she either lied so that she could show that she also got bullied for some reason or she lied because she was a tormentor.

Rudy Juarez- Yes JJ is very sexy!!! Why, because she was created to be so! :) But I disagree with her and Reid's friendship. I think their relationship has suffered and it will be hard for Reid to forgive her even if it has been that long, in his mind she betrayed him.
Guys, you don't have to be a mean girl to go through high school without tormentors. O.o I don't think JJ ever was one. Reid made an assumption based on the stereotypes of high school students.
Of course there is the option that you are that invisible, bullies don't realise you exist. And even if JJ is nice nowadays, her reaction shows Reid is right
+LMN good point, she did seem rather defensive, especially with that dig at Spencer being "that guy" in the social hierarchy. With her sporty nature, big personality, and good looks there was no way that JJ was invisible back then....still it's hard to imagine her being a mean girl.
I’d like to think that Criminal Minds is a continuation of Higher Ground. When Shelby graduated from Mt. Horizon Peter and Sophie offered her a soccer scholarship and she studied criminal justice in college. After testifying in her stepfather’s trial she changed her name to JJ and got a job in the BAU. So no, not a mean girl just a girl who was dealt a mean life until she got strong enough to overcome it all.
Speaking as someone who used to be fairly popular despite being a bullied fat, queer, alternative poc, there were obviously a few mean girls, but most of the popular girls were really nice ppl. Some of them just got branded as mean because they didn't accept weird, creepy behaviour. It's usually the guys you've got to worry about.
y'all are projecting. being bullied is not a universal experience, and most kids aren't bullies. jj is pretty but that doesn't mean she was a bully, jfc.
Within the group, I think Morgan and JJ would have the most similar highschool experience in terms of being attractive and popular but not a bully to the extent that would cause someone to be traumatized (or not a bully at all).
I think this all just banter. I mean, a girl with a history of suicide in the family? This kind of things hits hard, do you think she has in her to push someone like that?
She was also that little girl who was from a little town who lived under the dark cloud of her big sister committing suicide. That usually makes a kid a lot less shallow even if they have all the blessings needed to be at the top of high school social hierarchy.
I don’t think jj was mean I do think she was popular, we had nice and mean popular girls at my school and her saying “guys like you” means she didn’t necessarily associate herself with the more nerdy and unpopular people but she wasn’t mean to them either.
When she said "guys like you" I don't think she meant that in a condescending sense. She simply meant that she moved in a different circle, and Spencer in another. She said it matter-of-factly. And you don't have to be "mean" to have no tormentors/bullies. The world isn't black and white. So yes, maybe she's a mean girl, but I don't think she's one of those who are just outright bishes. At most she's mean in the sense that she's indifferent.
She probably wasn't a mean girl, but i can totally see her on the mean girls group, not being a bully, but being popular enough for not noticing the total amount of bullying on her own school, after all, she also got her mind on others themes while she was growing
