The best BAU team was Hotch, Prentiss, Rossi, JJ, Reid, Morgan, and Garcia. Their chemistry and friendships just meshed the best - and the studio execs messed with that because they wanted "hotter chicks"? How effing stupid are they?

That is not true AT ALL... Yea at first JJ and Prentiss were let go to bring in a new face (Ashley) but it had NOTHING to do with looks! But they brought them both back! At which point Prentiss CHOSE to leave ON HER OWN. And even if they had never let them go in the first place that team would still have been broken up eventully because of Hotch, Reid, and Morgan leaving the show.. WHICH THE WRITERS HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH cuz Hotch was fired because he kicked one of the writers, Reid left because the actor wasn't interested in reprising the role anymore, and Morgan left cuz he wanted to explore new opportunities,

I have no issues with him. Frankly, I adore him and his social media content with his wife is beyond delightful. He originated one of the lead roles in my favorite musical of all time, so I will always love him.
That said, it is more than a little odd that he then went on to do another equally violent show given his reasoning here. Also, I understand it isn't the first time that he just bailed on a contract by no longer showing up at work. It is a little hard to understand that in contrast to the person he appears to be.

Criminal minds stopped feeling like Criminal minds when Hotch left. He was the glue that kept the show together and even though the show was slowly declining before he left, his absence highlight the downslide the show was on.
It’s even worse when it’s been revealed that the firing was murky and the writer he ‘kicked’ wasn’t known for being a good guy.

    • @siljorfag
      @siljorfag 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +42

Agreed - most jumped on Thomas Gibson and his "anger issues". It was the case of taking a side without even listening to the other side. I'm not saying the kicking was the correct way to handle it, if it even happened, but to Gibson - I barely saw any work for him after this, it was sad seeing that this one situation affected his career, as he was a great actor. I really hope he's holding it up well, and us fans know his character was irreplaceable.

Also regarding thomas gibson, i read somewhere that he was defending some cast members/staff who were being harassed by virgil (not that im saying that what he did was right; he obviously should've handled it better especially due to his previous altercations). this was a great video nonetheless!

The moment Thomas Gibson/Aaron Hotchner left the show, I just mentally checked out.
There were still other characters to enjoy sure:
Gubler/Reid and Cook/J.J. wouldn't leave until season 15 (the second to last season) and Brewster/Prentiss, Bernero/Rossi & Vangsness/Garcia stayed on the show until the end of its run.
But similarly to how Moore's/Morgan's departure marked the end of the show's golden age (seasons 3-11), Hotchner being gone was just a *death mark* for the show. Plain and simple.
Hell, it if you don't believe me, some Network TV channels that show reruns *don't even bother* showing anything past season 12.

Criminal Minds is one of the best series ever to be shown on TV, story, actors, filming etc.
Thomas Gibson absolutely owned his role and I do think criminal minds lost a whole lot of fans when he was fired. His silent presence is still missed. . Mandy Patkin was perfect but I understand the role to be too dark he did a brilliant job! . I love JJ she is perfect and she should never have been gone, she brings beauty and Grace to the darkness. Garcia is just the rainbow in the clouds. Love her weirdness! I liked Paget from day one! Sheemar Moore. One of the most beautiful people ever to be put on this earth. I was sad to see him go.

The first two season had a totally different feeling - every member of the team had a purpose and a role, and Gideon tied everything up as the one character that has seen it all as a profiler and was a step ahead of everyone, seeing things or connections where others didn't - his character was irreplaceable, and while I liked Rossi - he was never Gideon. Back then their work felt believable. Later on the show, Garcia solved a big chunk of the cases out of thin air - where in the first two seasons, while being critical in a few cases, she was by no means the magic formula to solve the cases. That made me appreciate a lot more the first two seasons. The show die for me when Hotch left and I just couldn't care anymore.

And I don't blame Paget Brewster for leaving after they screwed with her and fired her and then pressured her to come back for season 7 like nothing happened. 8:59 the fact that they joke about Mandy leaving the show because it was destroyed his soul and personality and he should’ve “read the pilot closer” is kind of gross to me and makes me lose a lot of respect for them. Being a part of something that dark can really affect someone Kenta and emotionally after a time. Look at Evan Peters needing a break from AHS after portraying some of the characters he has. Some people just have more of a tolerance for it than others. Mandy was doing what was best for him mentally and emotionally by removing himself from the show, and rather than making fun of him, they should respect that, and respect that he opened the door for Joe Mantegna to even join the Criminal Minds universe.

He just didn't show up, nobody knew if the network would continue the show without the main character and everyone thought they would loose their jobs, they were scared for a couple weeks and lost on what to do. It's not good for them to hold a grudge for so long, but it was very rude of him to not announce to his coworkers he was leaving. When I first heard the line "every year, millions of Americans leave the safety of the United States," I burst into hysterical laughter. I’m not JJ’s biggest fan & I especially did not like the fact that she became a profiler. It felt really unnatural for her to just slip back into the series as an expert profiler already; she could have been incorporated back in different ways & still allowing her to be more engaged in cases, without making her a profiler.
I don’t know what it is about Jennifer Love-Hewitt, but she is irritating. I never watched that teeny bopper show, what was it, Party of Five or something like that?! I Know What You Did Last Summer was the first time I watched her “act”, well that & the music video, she tries too hard to be the goody two shoes/girl next door. Her character on Ghost Whisperer was beyond annoying- think early to mid-90s sitcoms that almost always have a happy ending, too cheesy 🤮

Mandy leaving was regrettable because of how well he portrayed his character, but I understand how living in darkness, even a fictional darkness can wear down someone's soul.
As if the terrible acts alone weren't enough, Criminal Minds delved deeper into each unsub's psyche as the main method of catching them. The twisted logic that many of the criminals would follow, no matter how absurd it is to a "normal" person, made sense when looking at the wider picture, and you could connect the dots, often being a representation of their descent into their madness.
Like growing up with an abusive mother, only to later target victims that were reminiscent of her, and seeing the lines blur between the unsub's past and the victim's present, with the kill triggering a sort of cathartic release of closing the chapter of their nightmarish childhood. Only for the dreams of past abuses to return, triggering a need to find another victim and another release.
It was often simultaneously astounding and horrifying to realize how human these unsubs often were, and how easily given similar circumstances, the viewer could have turned out like them.
As a viewer, we just sit back and suspend disbelief as we watch a show. As an actor in the show, you develop an understanding about your character and all the characters you interact with. There's the core being of you that gets exposed to all these other elements, like a flagpole in harsh and bitter winds. It's not so bad when you're in a rom com or something, but when you're dealing with such dark material about the human psyche, realizing that these various "evil" characters are human underneath, sort of reflecting versions of yourself that could have been you if your life had gone differently, is a difficult concept to come to terms with. It's hard to dismiss it as a mere acting gig or an overreaction because it's fake, fiction, when you can see yourself in the unsub's shoes and realize you could face the same mental break they did and envision yourself committing the same atrocious acts as a result. And it's made even worse when you have quality actors portraying these villains because it drives the point home even harder.
"He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster. And if you gaze for long into an abyss, the abyss gazes also into you." ~ Friedrich Nietzsche

I didn’t like the Jean Tripplehorn season either. Jennifer Love Hewitt season didn’t bother me…
