I'm sorry to hear this! I've had one bad deal witth dolls, but it's not as bad as this. I don't have any Blythes, but I collect Pullips and use some for photography. I ordered one from a Japanese website and when she came one of her legs was incredibly loose, and she really couldn't hold any type of pose. I hope to rebody her someday. But I hope this clears up for you!
Aww, it's hard when you have unexpected complications with a doll like this. I do think a lot of the things are very easy to fix though and perhaps if you don't feel comfortable sending it back to the seller to fix or fixing it yourself, there would probably be other able to do this for you. You can order replacement screws on line and I think the eyechip just needs to be reglued as well. What may have happened is that the seller was not even aware the doll didn't have her screws in place and the shaking and jostling of just normal shipping popped her head back open. Of course I don't know for sure but I could easily see that being the case especially with someone who doesn't ever open their dolls up. She is very darling though and the original customizer did a nice job with her faceup. Hope she works out for you.
Thanks for the encouragement :) Her eye chip turned out to be a clear plastic chip and piece of colored paper! However, I went ahead and glued it back in. Someone is sending me screws, so hopefully, I can get her back together. Though, after opening her up, I found out the top part of her head is from an Icy doll, not a Blythe, so that and lack of screws is why she's falling apart. The saga continues!
I have some eye chips like that I bought from Etsy it's another way to make custom eyes so that doesn't sound very unusual. BUT the fact she has an icy doll scalp is NOT cool and definitely should have been something explicitly stated in any sales post concerning her. I'd be interested what the original customizer has to say about that!
I've heard from the original customizer who also sent me a photo of the doll she created, and only the faceplate and backplate are from her. I'm going to do an updated video soon and will show the doll before someone re-customized her.
I'm sorry this happened, but at least her cracking her head is an easy fix. Otherwise, she's very lovely and looks to be in good condition. It's a pain that she's missing screws, but they should be easy to replace- if you search for custom RBL Blythe parts online, I'm sure you'll find them. He's a link to the Cool Cat repair parts page: us.sk-coolcat.com/front/bin/ptdetail.phtml?Part=b_acc02&Category=247573 I hope everything gets sorted so you can enjoy your lovely new doll!
I'm so sorry this happened to you, that's awful that someone would send a doll out like this to you. I know it's heartbreaking and so very frustrating! RIght now I'm dealing with something similar, I bought A Girl For All Time doll on ebay, described as brand new, received it, she's falling apart, scratched, marked and scuffed all over, clothes and shoes ruined. The seller is saying we must have ruined it, which is completely not true. Very frustrating as a buyer! Most seller's are honest and trustworthy, I think, but experiences like these, can really put you off. It's definitely not fair how the seller didn't described the doll to you correctly. And how she spoke to you, was quite unkind. I feel like you definitely had a bad dolly deal. Hope you can fix her if you decide to keep her. I'm sure paypal would side with you, if you decided to return.
She is a very beautiful girl, with a lot of potential, I'm with Joey and I thnk she is totally fixable, that being said I also believe that the seller should have disclosed all the information about her, those screws did not get lost in the mail. You should press the backplate a little, on the sides, near the ears so it fits properly until you get the screws. I thinks you've already fix the eyechip problem. I hope you can settle some agreement with the seller, you need at least a partial refund, and please don't lose your faith into the doll community :D (sorry about the english, I hope it was clear enough)
Thank you. I did try to close her up before I realized the missing eye. I guess I'm going to need to use more muscle! I only opened up a head one other time, and I do remember it took some effort to get it closed back. I opened this doll and got the eye chip out, which is a piece of paper and plastic chip, not an actual resin chip or eve painted plastic chip :( Still I'm going to do my best to fix her.
Wow, this is messed up. You don't lose all the screws (that are already a pain to get out) in transit. I think she should give you a partial refund. The doll is really cute otherwise but you shouldn't have to do ALL THAT (open head, get chip, buy new screws, close doll, glue chip back on) for a doll you bought.
That was one of my suggestions to the seller that she return an substantial amount back to me since I have to fix the doll, but she wasn't open to that and continued to suggest that the doll was "perfect" (her words) when sent to me. I'm definitely getting a crash course in doll doctoring!
That's a shame. I only have one blythe, I got her maybe a month ago from a collector on eBay. First, she got lost in the mail and sent back home. Then the finally got her and a day or two later her eye chip fell into her head and also one eye has messed up eyelashes... her licca body is p. floppy too. ): also the eBay seller over charged for postage to cover their fees... I love her, but it's made the whole thing kind of :/ Your girl looks lovely but I'm sorry she showed up damaged. ):
Well, that's awful for you. I'm so sorry. This is my first doll with a licca body, but from what I've heard, the head will be a tad more wiggly than a regular body or a fortune day body. However, the head isn't supposed be open and the body isn't supposed to be floppy.
The head is quite bobbly, which is annoying but apparently normal so I'm not worried about that. Her head won't open at all in my case, and your dolls head won't close... if only they'd meet in the middle :P the rattling eye chip in her head is driving me loopy.
I finally opened her head. I'll share in a update video, but I discovered the scalp is from an icy doll, which is why it doesn't just snap back into place.
OMG Tammy! I've just seen your 3 videos about this doll and I'm furious for you! At the beginning of August someone (CD) tried to trade this doll with me for my Nanuka custom!!! WTF! I was so tempted but didn't go ahead because I'd never traded before and wasn't familiar with the person wanting to trade. I'm wondering if it's the same person that sold her to you? Hugs my lovely. xxxxxx
You were right not to trade! Though, of course, as you can see in the last video of these 3, all worked out for me even though the process is not something I ever want to repeat.
I look forward to seeing an updated video of when she is finished!
This is the final update to what happened with that doll: th-cam.com/video/gLiGQrFmheQ/w-d-xo.html

Wow, that's horrible! I hope you submit a complaint to Ebay. I don't really see a way of not getting potentially ripped off.

Tammy did you buy her through paypal? They will cover this sort of thing. I hope it all works out for you.
Yes, though that processed would take 40 days from what I've read. I appreciate the sympathy :)
