It was a pleasure to watch history, as I spent, 1year in Singapore Shipbuilding and Engineering , as a Pipe Fitter , 21 years as Dock Operator cum Mechanical Maintenance for DryDocks World, then known as Dubai Drydocks and 1 year as Docks Operator for Oman Drydocks in Duqum. Now retired after 14 years stint as a Shutdown Mechanical Supervisor for Oil n Gas in Kuwait & Qatar. Watching brought tears in my eyes. It's a tough job, requiring high-quality skilled workers. Seen lots of accidents, some ending in Death.
A long commertial for BECKER MARINE TECH
Its BOW like the bow of the ship or bow wow.
Let's not forget about the energy savings for the vessel.
gotta like the ever hungry seagulls at 03:21 sitting on the cleaning head in anticipation of a feed - awesome!
Amusing how this AI voice bounces back & forth in its pronunciation of "bow thruster".
Great series!
But, the robo-voice sucks.
excellent ship thrust propeller & rudder engineering # ❤🇵🇰
Very Impressive !!!
Interesting topic
It would appear the contractor is attempting to achieve “energy savings for the vessel “.
The moving marine life on the ship.
Good content spoiled by the robot narrator.
This video is a commercial for the Becker Flap Rudder. lol
It’s bow not bow
уговорили ! Беру две !
😮
What negative effects does all the debris (marine growth) have on the immediate vicinity seeing that it just get cleaned off the boats in and near the dry dock. Because there are still millions of marine live that is still alive and millions of dead marine live being removed from these enormous boats. Surely the live marine growth will want to find new habitat to attach themselves to
I watched another video and it said it had to be collected and disposed of properly, whatever that is.
@@bigredc222 thank you for the feedback👍🏼
There wasn't anything in that video to support that claim. Those crustaceans sure looked like they were just getting blasted into the surrounding waters; forever changing the habitat around the docks.
This lets them apply a new bottom coat. Something that all ships must do every now and then.
How do they clean/paint the areas of the hull resting on the blocks?
I was reading a book about that. They would refloat the ship and shift it slightly and set it back down on the blocks exposing the previously hidden areas.
@@raoulcruz4404 Nope! It's a sidetrack for this kind of commercial vessels.
There are several blocking plans that in rotation, so for the next docking, the blocks will be placed differently, exposing the previously missed areas.
I hate listening to chatGPT scripts read out by another AI.
Especially when they say stuff like " Bow thruster " as opposed to the correct " Bow thruster " wait... What?
Best to turn sound off then you won’t hear about the bo thruster!
@@jonbutcher9805I wonder if you wrote it as bough would it pronounce it correctly??
@@Iaintwoke As in a large branch... Maybe. But knowing AI algorithms the Nursery rhyme would most probably say " and when the Bow break's the cradle will fall..." They're getting closer to perfection, but I like these little errors. It shows people still have a little control left in life... a little. LoL
makes 2
You should pay for better editing on your computer generated narration.
Curious. What happens to the marine growth?
Gets powerwashed back out into the sea...
Using the same correct pronunciation for "bow thruster" consistently would be a welcome improvement. Otherwise, informative... as much as I watched.
Loved the pics but the narration was appalling.
I am providing spiritual treatment for ship's
I turn off when it’s one of those mechanical voices
Yeah. Can't pronounce "bow" consistently. Frustrating!
3% ?????? savings probably not worth the initial cost to have the fins installed??????? Try paying the bill for having the navy make you a set of props for a pleasure boat to save 3% . This project is 1000 times bigger only to save 3%? Hmmm! The maneuverability thing is cool though🤣
2:27 Seems they use the wrong paint on the ship hull that's why all these weeds can find hold. A teflon coating would be better.
Barnacles cost ship owners millions and millions of dollars each year in added fuel cost and maintenance, and you watch one video and think of a solution that hundreds of people in the marine industry have never thought of.
You shouldn't have said it on the internet now someone else will use your idea and take the credit.
Bottom paint is a chemical compound that activates as
soon as it contacts saltwater.
Just exactly how much do think the entire hull coated with Teflon would cost. It is
cost prohibitive.

5:14 wtf is this welding
9:00 This will again fall off after one year.
still dont understand why these large ships dont have a front rudder ,either mechanical or water jets
You do the opposite of float, you pump the water out and land the ship on the blocks.
The thumbnail looks like a big potato
Rubbish. Doesn’t match description. Lots of cleaning. It takes skill to use a dry dock not a commentary
I am working 6 years this job
I love this job ........but lifestyle very poorly
Very hard working nothing get .......this is million of business ritch man ritch lifestyle
Worker poor go down. .....very sad mood me also my heart
AI narrators is a slide backwards, not an advance. They have no clue how to pronounce half the words, and still speak like a robot. Interesting video though, that magnetic crawler water blaster is very cool. Standing round under a hull in your foul weather gear with a wand blaster, day after day gets old pretty quick.
lOW QUALITY ai GENERATED CONTENT
Had to stop watching due to A.I.narration.
Repeatedly saying the same thing. Frustrating to listen to
These computer generated voice over systems suck. They just suck. In the space of two minutes, half the time it was BOWE thrusters and half the time it was BOUGH thrusters (proper pronuncuation). Frankly I would rather just have subtitles. At least one can forgive spelling errors in those computer generations.
