Thanks Kevin ❤❤❤ I will be heading to Costco now for propane ❤❤thank you for sharing your thoughts and experiences ❤❤❤ really appreciate it big time ❤❤❤
Interesting and informative! Beautiful snow-covered mountains and lake in opening film! I was hoping you were camping there, but maybe soon. Great video!
I agree with you about living in a van, motor home, truck camper. Stuff happens, My motor home is 20 years old the previous owners only took it out in the summer one or two times. Since I've had it I've traveled and lived in it for 3 years. And it is true, break downs tires are expensive that's why I have over $3000 in savings for emergencys. But I don't let that kinda thing worry me.
You mentioned Calgary - one of the most beautiful cities I have visited. My experience in Canada was that Canadians love their country, towns & cities and all reflect this- Anyway, helpful video!
Love ur vids Kevin, keep em coming! Also love to see this channel keep growing! Take care from Edmonton, definitely no shame in staying in a Walmart! I lived in 1 for almost entire summer in FT mac 10 years ago and met some of the best people in the world there!
Hope with all your driving you have good gel padding for the seat, good back support to. My dad drove truck for 50 years and learned the hard way what hard seating does! 🙏🏻👍🏻
If you ever find yourself in Creston BC. The Husky gas station on Erickson Road sells propane by the pound. Which means if your tank is half full you only pay for 10 lb
My Wife and I spend the winter down in Arizona (from New Brunswick) in our Lance TC. We have been all over North America and find dump stations the most difficult to find, especially in rural areas in winter. We can identify with a lot of what you say.
Not a camper guy, but i like your videos and subscribed just because i want you to hopefully be able to do what you love doing. Keep up your good work, best regards from Sweden
Thanks for the useful tips bud. Cheers from Newfoundland :) …ps, our (upcycled) 1998 truck camper is like a Swiss Army knife of goodies for our self-reliant needs-we’re in our 60s! …pps swap rivets where screws are used (metal plate if no grip)..
Try 'LockTight" from Home Depot. I think they carry it. You have an awesome camper.👍 Speaking of heating; check out the small wood stoves. "Work Less Enjoy Life More; a TH-camr, just installed one in his truck camper. Looks so nice!
Do you/have you ever visited throughout the Americas? I wish I could be a nomad......it fits my personality perfectly, other than being able to garden and compost(although I've thought about some sort of traveling roof box garden... 🤔)... Anyways besides those things, you have the perfect set up.. call me jelly
Id keep it simple and get 1 12v 300ah lithium battery. It gives you 240ah usable capacity. Pair that with 1 - 400w panel and you should be able to boon dock 4 or 5 days a week before needing to run the generator.
@@Weak_juan the higher voltage gives more capacity and greater efficiency. Also less heat output thus smaller cable size is possible if desired. Although larger cable size provides less resistance.
@@noneya61 but your rv only uses 12v. You throw 48v and it will fry everything. Unless you're using a transfer switch and inverter for your 110v (shore power) side, i fail to see how 48v would do anything for you.
Holy it’s hard. I live full time in my 2024 8-11, it’s only the beginning of winter and I wonder if I made the right choice. Once something is fixed, something else breaks lol. Hopefully I’ll run into you one day before I decide that it’s enough and I get rid of it haha
Ohhh no!! Sorry for your experience, when I first started I had a lot of figuring out to do but it did eventually get easier, or I became used to the chaos 😂
Man, you could go through a lot of propane. If you don't hook up a diesel heater, then put a mini wood burning stove in. Just a thought man. You do you and I will watch.
I ran the numbers and I would save about 50$ a month with diesel but I also would still need propane for fridge stove and water heater. Diesel heaters are great but I just don’t see a benefit other than it being a back up really
I guess there is no easy way to attach a 100 lb bottle to your truck. Any chance there is room underneath on the outside of the frame to add a tank from an old propane fuelled vehicle?
Could do that but very rare I spend over 4 days parked in the winter, I could easily add a hitch Carrier and two more 20lb tanks if I was doing an extended trip like that. Summer time my tanks last a month and that’s usually when the more remote back country opens up more
Do you seek out other rv dwellers on the road for a sense of community and to abate the sense of loneliness?. A lot of rv dwellers that I follow here in BC and Alberta, appear to have a firm community of friends doing the same lifestyle
I wonder if I have to have a different drive license to drive a trunk or if I have a drive license and drive a small car I can drive a bigger car too ?
Yep, basically the same stuff I have experienced here in the USA.. And I do plan on moving to Canada (Dual citizen).. How is phone service/internet via phone there? my business is computers so I need constant internet access.. Here in the US there is a provider (NVMO of Verizon Wireless called visible) that is a flat $35/month and it comes with talk/text and DATA -- and the hotspot is also unlimited, although it is restricted to 10mb/s speeds.. I actually use it all day to stream TV while I'm working.. I average 500-600GBytes a month of data for $35.. Anything even close to that available in Canada? I have other questions, too :-)
Nothing that close in Canada for data, honestly that much usage I’d do starlink or I used maple wifi for a little bit but it was very unreliable but unlimited
I designed and built a baby woodstove for my lance truck camper. Do that. Free wood, free exercise. I'm lovin it. Great video, thanks much.
thinking the same for a wedge camper i will be buying instead of diesel heater.
How is your insurance co with that?
Wood glue all those cabinet screws in and they will never come loose again. 👍 Love your analogy of camper being in an earthquake while driving. 👌
You really talk common sense…all good stuff to hear for anyone getting into the lifestyle….be well and safe travels….cheers

Hi Kevin great to see you, hope you are well, great information mate.

Having your own home and being able to live anywhere you want is priceless. If you're in a place you don't like just drive away.🤗

If you have days with decent wind but low sunlight a small wind generator like many sailboats use works great for charging the batteries.

Hi Kevin, I recommend industrial areas, easy to street park, at least here in AB
My ideal rig build will have massive fresh water, minimal gray, and no black tank. I’ll outfit with a wrappon toilet.

Loctite Threadlocker Blue 242 is designed to lock and seal threaded fasteners and prevent loosening from vibration. Ideal for 6-19mm fasteners.
Whoa! Matt was fast!!
Great video Kev - appreciate all your advice.
Very informative video, Kevin!! Most enjoyable.

One Walmart in Courtenay as soon as you enter the city limits while on the 19A Old island highway.
Great Vid Kevin 😁👍🙏

If you had a big 48v battery bank you could rent a full hookup for the night and empty your tanks and charge up.

Get a dog, very positive. Propane, newer gas stations aren't including recharge stations!
Propane is a pain in the ass! Just get a diesel heater off your fuel tank and induction cooktop problem solved…
So long as he upgrades his battery and charging system.
where was the opening shot over the lakeshore?
Nordegg area
The most painful part of living in a truck camper is making the bed! lol 😂
😂 too true!

How did you do that?
