A mix of direct stock and mutual fund investments can really give u great returns and a relaxed mind as well. When the markets are up, even though u stop investing in direct stocks due to rich valutions but you know through mutual fund investments, somebody is still buying or holding or selling for you to give great returns in long term....
80% of total investment in index fund, rest 10 % in foreign index fund and rest 10% you can invest in direct stocks(if you confident enough)i think this the best way for most individual investor to invest in stocks.

As per my understanding Ind money will not help you to switch all the units into direct plan. Instead you will sell all the regular plan units accumulates over the years and buy direct plan unit with that amount. By doing so you will be buying at current NAV which will be expensive in present scenario. In my opinion, you can do the following. 1) Cancel or Pause your regular plan sip. 2) Hold those regular plan as it is and sell them first when you required fund. 3) Start new direct plan sip
