It definitely the safe choice. Don't panic and rush add a coaster to replace Volcano in the same year that a giga shuttle is opening at Busch Gardens. Instead, bide your time and really think about what can go in that prime piece of real estate.

@@Stagnant_Gravy They worked with RMC in 2018. Did it turn out well though? You would probably say yes since Steel Vengeance is a fantastic ride but... KD is not a park worthy of 25 to 30m coasters, disappointing results with I-305 & TTimbers lackluster response. KD is not a priority investment park & has not produced the ROI, CF has stated their priority parks 2 years ago. CF can get better ROI in fast growing markets at Wonderland and Carowinds or from the big 3 producers CP, Knotts & KI. KD is a bottom 1/3rd park in the chain now.
Maybe the timing works out and the S&S Axis prototype will be installed. It would likely be the very first of its type built and would be just like Volcano in that regard.

It definitely isn't a favorite of enthusiasts and purists but having been on 3-4 of them across the country, I've really come to appreciate them. The variety of experiences you get on them is really unique and visually, they're very striking attractions that draws the GP in
Honestly I tend to go on the one at SFNE almost every visit just because it almost never has a line when i go and sometimes you get a really good ride on them. Also if I am going to walk away from the 2 best coasters and go to the other side of the park to ride batman, i might as well just ride it. What about Kings island? Yes they just added Orion last year, but they have the plot where Vortex once stood and has not been replaced yet, and they have the back land behind banshee where part of Son of a beast used to be. I will like to see volcano be replaced soon though.
When I first saw the title of this video I was like what? No! But your reasoning makes sense. I’d take this replacing the crypt over a winged coaster replacing Volcano. And we just got a big addition with Twisted Timbers.
If they want to compete with Busch Gardens, a wing Coaster would be cool, mainly Bc there aren’t many around besides GateKeeper in CP (apologies if there are more, that’s the only one I can think of.)
This makes me wonder if cedar fair is trying S&S out again. I’ve been saying it would be hilarious if volcano got replaced by an S&S air launch, and maybe this is cedar fair attempting to start back up with them again. Not saying it will happen but I would say an air launch would be more than worthy to replace it, and an interesting tribute to XLC.
I heard a theory that the Volcano replacement is an S&S coaster like Steel Curtain, Maxx Force, or maybe an Axis Coaster (which they’d tell S&S to get right to avoid another Hypersonic) and they were offered a cheap deal on a freespin as the Volcano replacement is developed.
This is weird to me as I have worked at Kings Dominion on several occasions. I was also on the iron work crew that installed the line railing for the Crypt back in 2003 or 2004. So having all of that work ripped out in 15 years seems sad to me. Having to paint all of that steel to look like bamboo was a pain in that ass.
Didn't know that they going to be removing Crypt that soon from the park. I never got a ride out of it, due to how it operated and how dizzy I might feel coming off of it afterward
Imagine if some new version of the Intamin hydraulic launch was made and it will be Volcano's replacement. Doubt it would happen but it would be pretty awesome not gonna lie
I’m honestly kinda happy, if they do get a worthy replacement for volcano in 2023, they would definitely make up for the 8 year span they didn’t get any roller rollercoasters
I think the Volcano removal really put them in a tough spot that BGW is just making worse and worse. A 4D Freespin seems like a good filler/appetizer, particularly since I think Anaconda might be on the chopping block in the next few years as well. The land occupied by Anaconda is across the midway from the (former) Volcano site, which would allow for a Gatekeeper-like crossing of the midway (to the space currently occupied by Anaconda's station). Given that B&M and Cedar Fair have shown a willingness to play around with RMC-like elements I wonder if they'll do a zero-G stall on a wing coaster (DO WANT)... But that would require it being much larger than the originally proposed replacement. I suspect the BIG attraction will function as the "replacement" for both rides (Anaconda's removal will be announced followed by the announcement of the wing or another similarly large addition). If I had to guess, I'd bet that the Anaconda site is largely returned to just being water with the new addition.
Just trying to think outside of the box. If there is a lot of interest in the Axis coaster, and if I were S&S, I would tell clients that if they want priority access to buy an Axis coaster they need to buy a free spin first to reserve their place in line. Basically use the Axis model to leverage their other products.
I know this video is focused on KD, but it just got me thinking, is Drachen Spire really going to happen at BGW? I got so excited to see that they were making plans for another ride before they even finished building Pantheon, but I’m just not sure if it’s true. Also thanks for restoring my hope in KD 👍
That's painful. Anticipating a large B&M coaster for next year, and being smacked with an S&S free spin. That being said, it, like the Sky Rocket IIs, are known for filler. That being said, perhaps you'll get an even crazier coaster than originally predicted. (Perhaps plans for the Wing have been dropped and you'll get an S&S Axis. Unlikely, but possible.)
Doesnt have to be a clone. Could be one of the 10 element models that havnt been produced yet. Personally, even though im not a free spin guy, i think that would be a decent addition.
More proof KD is now a middle teir park. The Richmond area is not growing in population like Charlotte NC. The ride choices reflect this. The Intamin blockbusters did not move this park into the top 20 for attendance. I have KD in 5th place and may drop them to 6th depending on what CGA gets as their next big ride. There are 4 Marque parks at the top, then it drops off. We need the attendance from the top 30 USA parks, but Brian Sands over at TEA says it's too much work, so we only get a top 20 which half is the Disney and Universal parks. Cedar Point - 150 Year Celebration (2018 - Steel Vengeance) (3.676 Million) Kings Island - Orion (2017 - Mystic Timbers) (3.486 Million) Knotts Berry Farm - 100 Year Celebration (2018 - Hangtime) (4.115 Million) Carowinds - Boogie Board Racers (2019 - Copperhead Strike) (2.130 Million)
Wow. I didn’t know they had wrecked the actual volcano itself. So sad. As for this particular addition, I don’t know how they theme that for that area and have it not look like a carnival ride. A different coat of paint won’t cut it. Also seems like a strange ride for Cedar Fair, but on the other hand, they have to do something. They can’t just keep removing rides and have empty land.
This is a good replacement for a flat ride imo!! I think they got an S&S free spin because they are already working with them on an axis coaster as a replacement for volcano!
Its simple, just build the best rides from cedar point in ohio at kings dominion since they are both cedar fair. Like the gatekeeper from cedar point (wing coaster) remake that in a different way at KD where the volcano was. knock down the avalanche and build the maverick from cedar point (semi-launch coaster) in its place. I like this idea in this video but hey cut some of those trees down and build the wicked twister that's at cedar point right there to replace the crypt. That's a hell of a line up.
Love the content bro. I actually visit this park yearly. I have season pass and love this park. Thanks for the updates. Ever decide to want to meet up at the park do a video. Hit me up 🔥💯
I'm not too mad. I think the freespin might even be a little better than the crypt since the crypt wasn't a big deal for the most part. as long as volcano gets an alright replacement I'll be happy.
"Something Happened". I'm pretty certain the stock market tanking because of the coronavirus scare might make some companies more Bearish. Imagine the coronavirus gets worse which I guarantee will affect attendance at all theme parks

So.......Seaworld got the Wing coaster instead?
That's painful. Anticipating a large B&M coaster for next year, and being smacked with an S&S free spin. That being said, it, like the Sky Rocket IIs, are known for filler. That being said, perhaps you'll get an even crazier coaster than originally predicted. (Perhaps plans for the Wing have been dropped and you'll get an S&S Axis. Unlikely, but possible.)
Yeah, I just can't stand cloned rides in general. If they're all the same, why would I be excited if they open up a new on at a different park?
I wonder what it would be like if Cedar Fair gets an S&S Frespin. I think it would be a good fit for the park.
Doesnt have to be a clone. Could be one of the 10 element models that havnt been produced yet. Personally, even though im not a free spin guy, i think that would be a decent addition.
Now avalanche has been shut down for the 2021 season as confirmed by the park on their website a few days ago.
Cedar Point - 150 Year Celebration (2018 - Steel Vengeance) (3.676 Million)
Kings Island - Orion (2017 - Mystic Timbers) (3.486 Million)
Knotts Berry Farm - 100 Year Celebration (2018 - Hangtime) (4.115 Million)
Carowinds - Boogie Board Racers (2019 - Copperhead Strike) (2.130 Million)
What if a park made a custom layout s&s freespin? Like it would be taller, faster, big steep drops, track twists, etc.? Why has no one tried this?
I wonder how they will theme it
Do they only make one model of the free spin?
Honestly, I feel like I'd be less disappointed if CF said they were installing a new bench.
Everybody gangsta til Cedar Fair starts building free spins
They should expand Dominantor by adding more track to it and bigger inversion
Looks like he was on the money with this one! And he guessed right it was going to be a smaller model.
This is a good replacement for a flat ride imo!! I think they got an S&S free spin because they are already working with them on an axis coaster as a replacement for volcano!
I wish, but i don't see that happening. CF doesn't like to add prototypes or new designs, and instead goes for the more reliable coasters
Hit me up 🔥💯
Think KD should do a clone of dinosaur in Japan. That would be the best received coaster possible.
Very interesting. Have a nice day now.
I'm not too mad. I think the freespin might even be a little better than the crypt since the crypt wasn't a big deal for the most part. as long as volcano gets an alright replacement I'll be happy.
I’m surprised KD’s the park that’s getting the free spin instead of worlds of fun or Michigan’s adventure
Nothing will replace Volcano except either an airtime woodie or a more reliable copy of Volcano.
"Something Happened". I'm pretty certain the stock market tanking because of the coronavirus scare might make some companies more Bearish. Imagine the coronavirus gets worse which I guarantee will affect attendance at all theme parks
Exactly, but they're using this ride to slow the bleeding from the new BGW rollercoaster
Lol
If a free spin is a replacement for a flat ride, think about what will replace volcano
And now KD is getting a B&M Wing coaster
You said these are like topspin on track? I live in Europe and so have never been on one. But the freespin's reputation is really bad while personally topspins are one of my favourite flatrides.
We're do you find these articles and rumers?
As I mentioned in the beginning of the video, this comes from KDfans.com
@@CoasterStudios Ok, thanks.
Kings dominion could replace volcano with a&Zach axis model which could be very cool and even maybe could be better than volcano maybe just a thought
