  • What SHOULD YOU DO? Weights or Cardio first?
    Listen, I know we all seem to thing we need to get in so much cardio, but YOU NEED TO BE DOING STRENGTH TRAINING, not after cardio but either before or on different days altogether!
    YOU want to be doing whatever is hardest first, and weight training should be challenging! If you do a full on killer cardio workout and then try to lift some weights, you will not have the strength left to do it at the level which you are actually able to.
    Hey Ladies, YOU WILL NOT GET BIG!! It takes A LOT of work to get big!
    If you are just starting with weight training, yes you may see a very small increase in size or even weight initially, as YOU ARE GAINING MUSCLE..
    But what happens? You start building lean muscle and that will help. you burn fat more efficiently!! Which means a tighter, more fit look to your body.
    Please remember, I balanced diet and a caloric deficit plays a HUGE role if weight loss is your goal.
    BUT DO NOT SKIP THE WEIGHTS!!

    Weights revved up my weight loss. And yes, I was always too tired after my cardio to get a good lift. Switching them really improved my weight routine and enabled me to lift heavier

    Cardio alwsys first. No excuses and just like the boxers. Get your road work out of the way and then go crazy on the weights. Works every time.

    Couldn’t agree more. Weights first and max impact and then you can dance around and squeeze out what’s left in the tank ❤

    I think this is why I haven't been consistent with strength training over the years because I would always do cardio first, and more often than not have no energy to do strength. I decided to switch and at the start of this year I've been doing weights before cardio. Ever since I've able to stay on track with three strength sessions weekly. Always hated weight training until now because I've stayed consistent and I'm now seeing some changes so now I look forward to doing the weights! Still love my cardio but its weights first now!

    Christina is always right, because when I’m done with her step and strength class, the plan is to always do one of her weights class, and I never can get through it. She wore me out already! 😩😂🤦🏾‍♀️

    I always do opposite and you’re right. It’s the little voice in my head saying do the cardio full blast and then finish with weights. It’s crazy how much we cardio freaks beat on selves. I’m going to try and switch 50% and see. Thanks for everything you do.

    I follow your program, so alternate cardio & weight days. If I really feel like I need a little movement after weights, I'll do a low impact marching type workout for 20-30 min. Then I follow up with a stretch, no matter whether it is a cardio or strength day. If I have time I'll do one of your 30 min ones, and if not I love the shorter ones in the mobility challenge. 🩷

    I like doing the step and weights workouts because of this. I plan to do my weights after my cardio workout and then I'm too tired and don't want to do weights. But for me, the step and weights are great!

  • @linjubar
    @linjubar 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    It’s the opposite for me. I think it’s an individual thing. If I do weights first, I would not do the cardio because I’m too tired. Doing cardio first gives me energy to lift the same weights anyway.

    Woah how did you know I needed this info?!! 🤯 That's literally what I've been doing (cardio then weights cuz I don't wanna hurt myself and I usually feel nice 'n warmed up to lift)..but I also would like to know if I should still do it in this order as far as weight loss?? Or maybe one day cardio, one day weights?? Or should I do videos that are cardio w/light weights?? I've been fighting "saddlebags" (among other problem areas lol) seems like my whole life and no matter what exercises I do or always eat clean, I cannot for the life of me get this last bit of fat off!! Hellllpp 😭

    • @CDornerFitness
      @CDornerFitness  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      yes for fat loss especially, and the cardio does not even need to be that intense.
      My Daily program is set up specifically like this. 3 days of weight training and 2-3 days of cardio. Also with eating, I like to "eat clean" but, it really has to do with eating LESS calories that you are currently eating if you want to lose weight.

    • @mandy4569
      @mandy4569 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You got that right!! I'm always trying to be in a caloric deficit but I will monitor this more closely 👍 Thank you so so much for this invaluable info!! I will have to try your program for sure (and apply it to my personal needs) 🫶

  • @joymurphy3203
    @joymurphy3203 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I learned this by trial and error. I used to do cardio first because I thought I would be too exhausted to do cardio after weights. But what I have found is that doing cardio after weights actually loosens up the muscles that I just worked and keeps me from being as sore as I would have been without doing the cardio. I actually have plenty of energy left for 30-45 minutes of cardio after weights, but I do find that I'm too exhausted to get the most out of my strength training if I do cardio first. For me, if I only do weights, I don't have the energy that I need for the day and it affects my mood. Cardio is like my anti depressant, literally, so I usually try to get at least 30 minutes, even on the days I do weights.
