This is the OST to The Goonies II for the NES! But in my own form of Stereo! Which spreads the sound channels and adds a bit of echo/reverb. These mixes also do not represent true, original, or actual stereo that the NES has, this is just to make the music sound more clear and crisp, and is another way of listening to the greatness of 8Bit music. So enjoy this soundtrack in what I like to call, WiiGuy's 8Bit Stereo!! :D
Shout out to the VGMPF & GDRI for helping spread accurate info!

@@retro9263 Well, I personally managed to plow through TMNT right up to the narrowing corridor just before Shredder's office, but with Goonies I was simply lost. Maybe my 10 year old brain was even more impatient with mazes and punching and hammering than I am today. But I see your point, friend. In my opinion they are both tough games in their own way.

Seventh grade, so '87 or '88, I borrowed this from a friend at school. Don't even remember what I lent him in return. It was a Saturday, and I sat in the den of my house from the moment I woke up until that night when I finally beat it. Loved it from start to finish and just couldn't put it down. One those seriously underrated gems from the NES that tend to be forgotten when people make best games lists. The soundtrack is one of the major reasons why I got so engrossed into this one, too. Glad to see someone uploaded the soundtrack!

The main theme to this is actually BY Cyndi Lauper, oddly enough. A lot of people think that her song was taking a theme from the movie and making a song out of it, but no, the actual original music is by her! 寺島 里恵 did an outstanding transcription of it for this game, really perfectly done. And his own original music in this soundtrack is, of course, really good. I think he's highly under-rated.

Every NES came with the ONPG which had maps for this game. NES games were not self-contained like games are now. You were expected to have the paper that came with the game, the ONPG and to play the game collectively with other kids. And today the maps are that much better, so there's no excuse now. It's like complaining that making szechuan food without a recipe is hard.

  • @calebchild4467

This game will always remind me of one of the most idiotic jerk things I did when I was a kid.
Some other kid, I have long since forgotten who, was over at our house for a couple hours. We decided to play this game. We also decided to take turns. The statement I made that we agreed to was that we would swap when the game said "game over." Sounds fair and reasonable, but I was letting him on.
See, when you die in this game, it technically doesn't say "game over" but just asks if you want to continue or not. However, it DOES say "game over" when you beat the game. And I thought I would be clever by going through the whole game and beating it and then saying "okay, it says game over, now it's your turn."
I thought I would be so good at the game that I wouldn't ever actually run out of lives. But I did. And I was a total jerk and refused to hand over the controller and let the other kid play.
I thought I could just fly real quick to the end, but it took some time. And ultimately, his mom came to pick him up before I got to the end. As I recall, I beat the game, and then rushed out to him while he was getting in the car just to let him know that it said "game over" now.
I cringe whenever I remember doing that; it's a memory that haunts me. I thought I was being clever, but I was just being an a**hole. And I was so full of myself that I couldn't see the problem with what I was doing. I was just focused on the joke I was playing because it said "game over" when you beat the game.

this is one of those games where you really need that Nintendo Power Play book (or what ever they called it but it cost like $20 bux) to find the secrets and clear the game. Alot of the stuff are too hidden and cryptic with out the use of nintendo power. (sorta like a gimmick)
The game is still very enjoyable and the sound track was done really well. my only complaint with it is it has no boss chartacter the entire game. (at least I don't remember one and I cleared it like 10+ times back in I think 1989

Love hearing other peoples' stories with games like this. Posted my own, too. And yeah, there's something about those '80s games. When they were good, they stuck with you; when they were bad, they still stuck with you, just for different reasons. This was definitely one of the best times I had playing a game on the NES.

@@lulukot7377 Sometimes, I think one's opinion of gaming in the '90s will almost entirely depend on how one feels about Pokémon. You know, as if the SNES, Genesis, and PSX weren't there, or something. It's just the way '90s kids tend to talk about growing up with video games, I guess. Truth is, the 1990s had some of the best games ever, including Super Metroid, Symphony of the Night, Link to the Past and Ocarina of Time, all of the best Final Fantasy games to see the light of day,... Come to think of it, I might even say that the '90s had, overall, superior game music to the '80s OR the '00s (for all those same games, as well as the criminally-underrated Sword of Vermillion). But man, there's something about that '80s NES chipset...when it's good, it's legendary.

I don't know exactly why but I got scared when I played the game as a child. Liked it somehow, though :)

Something seems a little funky at 6:55 and 6:59 and 7:03. That last held note in the sequence isn't rendering quite right. Any idea?

... was this damned game beatable? D: I could never figure it out. I always got stuck after a while.

Same here. I kept trying but just couldn't figure out where to go and never found out how to jump over that high wall. I'd go play Metroid and think, if Metroid has a high jump pickup then Goonies 2 must too!

      @TheDarkNinja7 9 ปีที่แล้ว

Yep. Once you found all of the Goonies (I think two of them were literally in the same place) You found the final key and then you unlocked Annie. Game Over.

Oh trust me, if Dan from Game Grumps could beat it, then Anyone could. But like, in all seriousness, it is super cryptic and challenging (especially if you're a kid from the 80s without internet).

I actually beat this game before there was such thing add the Internet. That big black book that came with the Nintendo sure was helpful for many early games.
