As someone who IS Lactose intolerant. Despite how bad it is for me, I will still eat Pizza, Ice-cream and the like. Knowing full well it's going to fuck me up later, but I don't give a damn. The day I give up some of my favorite foods and such is the day I stop breathing. Thankfully there are over the counter medications you can get to help mitigate this.
... I still don't use them. At that point either I'm being stubborn, stupid or both.

my little sister is the same she's both gluten & lactose intolerant but she doesn't care and she's still going strong I'm guessing her body has just adapted to consuming the things it's technically allergic too adapt overcome persevere

I'm the same way. My body can't handle anything except for water, plain white rice, and chicken without issues but I still eat and drink everything I know will screw me over later.

Kip’s talk about his bias against doctors reminds me of the Pika tumblr post about “Doctors vs. Furry Artists”.

The thijng about medicine is that every single body is different and while most will respond in a predictable way, you should never expect that. THere's a saying in the medical profession. IF you hear hoofbeats, look for horses, not zebras. Doctors are trained to use the most common solutions first because those are the ones that will most likely work. Just because they don't doesn't mean the doctor is bad. Also, don't trust nurses above doctors for medical knowledge. Nurses are geniuses when it comes to day to day procedures and making sure patients are clikcing along minute to minute. They don't have the education of experience that doctors do in planning out treatments or linking symptoms to diagnoses. Nurses are mechanics and doctors are engineers.

Oh, there's absolutely a greater conversation to be had here. Speaking with a medical professional after this was reacted to was actually why I added the intro in post production. Everything stated above tracks.

My possible guess is that the public sector doesn't pay nearly as well for medical professionals as private sectors, so most of the best or decent doctors find work in private sectors. That leaves a critical demand in the public sector for doctors, and since a lot of mediocre doctors can't find or keep work in the better paying private sectors, they often go to places like the VA for employment.
So even if the VA would like its doctors to have an accurate understanding of the effectiveness of vaccines, they're already critically short-staffed and don't have good ways to attract doctors to them.
And this is further exacerbated by the fact that there's just a shortage of doctors and medical staff in general. There's not enough new people graduating, and many existing nurses and other staff are quitting because of mediocre pay and deplorable working hours, which just continues the spiral of there not being enough nurses so nurses are working more hours.

"Doctors have an expertise" well, a nurse can have 14 other ideas you won't have because they DON'T have one.

Ive had to give up soda cause it was making me feel awful all the time. Since i gave it up and switched to gamer supps ive been able to feel happy again. Do not recommend doing sudden changes to your diet unless you have done it before like myself. Ive quite tobacco and alcohol in the past with success, although now im able to drink alcohol responsibly so i guess thats a wash.

    Gluten 2- Allergy Boogaloo.
I think I am starting to develop an intolerance to lactose, thankfully all that means is that I have a reason to drink more coconut milk.
I do also possess a bias against doctors, I have a reason for this.
I was diagnosed at around four years old with Asperges syndrome. Now, the doctor who diagnosed me told my mother that typical vaccine shots could cause a development of Autism.
He was attempting to hawk a triple booster that he was selling from a larger Pharmaceutical company.
As a result of this and my developing minor Autistic aspects that make it difficult to think straight sometimes, my mother is now an anti-vaccer, yay.
I was Ground Zero for that shit.
As if to rub salt in the wound, I currently have an ingrown toenail. I went to a clinic to talk to my GP and he contacted the hospital to make an appointment. That was in April, I finally got a letter. My appointment for an examination is in October. I probably won't get it dealt with until November. It's almost fully healed, the swelling went down and my foot doesn't hurt as much when I put weight on it.
I support medical practitioners, but fuck me they're terribly mismanaged.

My wife is a type 1 diabetic and for the longest time she never really questioned what the doctirs said or did UNTIL she became a type 1 diabetic. She, ironically enough, became one because of doctor incompitence. I forget the exact story but basically she was given an injection that she was allergic to which caused them to have to remove her....gallbladder or kidneys.....and because of it she can not only not process sugars properly but cant process any food properly. She gain type 1 diabetes along with a paralyzed stomach simply because the doctor didnt properly look over her medical records and realize the shot they were giving her contained something she was allergic to.
So yea, that was the leading cause to her asking for multiple doctors opinions on stuff and asking A LOT of questions now.

I recently had gout myself and it was definitely a wake up call to not have soda every day. Its the one time in my life recently where i could actually go more than a couple days without it and not have headaches, so all the better. Though sometimes i have some and then immediately go "ah crap", lol

My whole life I've been exceedingly lucky, every doctor, therapist, psychiatrist, ect. I've ever had has been great. Like amazingly great. They seem to genuinely want to see me live my best life for the longest I can. I realize this isn't the case with everyone tho, sadly.

Soda never gave me any pain, just a general tiredness. Also, I don't burp like a normal person; I sound closer to throwing up than any sort of burp or belch. Though I am fine with a singular small Redbull in the morning if I feel like I need something, not that it actually does anything to me. Otherwise, I live on sweet tea and cranberry juice.

The advice I give everyone that drinks a lot of beverages with sugar is simple: when inactive, do not drink sugar. Drinking sugar is the worst possible way to intake sugar because it comes into you body via liquids into the stomach which gets processed differently than solids, solids get broken down and digested, liquids get _absorbed_ relatively quickly (20-30min as opposed to the hours it takes to fully process solids) this means drinking a lot of sugar saturates the cells that take that in and you body has nowhere to put it so it starts shoving it places it really shouldn't go which causes problems.
Don't drink sugars when leading a less active lifestyle, initially it may suck but swap to a zero sugar alternative. (coke zero does it for me) Coffee drinkers, coffee has sugar so maybe don't keep drinking so much coffee, I know you need your caffine, but get your fix from something else, your teeth will thank you; not saying you can't have coffee just saying drink less of it. (you know who you are)
NOTE: I did not say do not have sugar, I said stop _drinking_ sugar, you will be shocked at how much better you feel when you stop over-saturating your body with quick-absorbed sugar and you will probably lose up to 20lbs without making any other changes to your diet. It is a game changer and I highly recommend it for anyone feeling terrible physically but not knowing why, it is probably this.

As someone who works on the Endurance field (independent office) it's staggering the amount of times we had to help a client change to a different hospital/clinic because the doctor was being a crybaby about ridiculous prices.
Don't get me wrong insurance companies can be sticklers too and I understand wanted to get paid for your work but some doctors would hold a patient in horrible pain for days just because they can't earn ALL THE MONEY.
Some doctors are disgusting I swear.
Oh yeah and clients having trouble because the doctor just gives the the complete wrong diagnosis.
All I'm saying is that always get a second or third opinion.
Just because they are a doctor doesn't mean they are right all the time

I will admit, I don’t trust doctors south of North Carolina. I have been prescribed many medications that made my life much worse and painful.
Every Doctor up north basically gave me the correct medication until my health insurance decided I didn’t “require” it anymore.
Now for most of my life I thought I was allergic to select drugs and shrimp. The thing was when I took the medicine when it was made outside America or ate shrimp from Japan I had no allergic reactions. In 2022 I went to a specialist that my insurance finally would cover for 2 appointments in New York, New York. The first appointment the doctor said I needed a special allergic reaction test.
Turns out this test is the best of the best to figure out what people are truly allergic to. It also turns out in 2018, every health care insurances company passed a law where you have to be on health insurance to access the test and could not be purchased out of pocket. Then in 2019 every American healthcare insurance company dropped all forms of coverage to access the test. The doctor decided to get me the test by giving me free bus tickets for a group of Americans to get tests in Canada. 2 weeks later I took this bus trip to Canada to get these tests that were banned in America technically.
The only problem with the test was that they had to take a pint of blood and it could take a week to get all the results. What surprised me was all the tests and creams and antibiotics given to me cost in total $55.46 total. The antibiotics I got cost $1,000 for a week amount of pills on 90% of America healthcare insurances. I paid $10 for 2 months worth.
So 2 weeks after that the results came in. So for more information America has 3 different allergies tests. First one is for only food, second is for food and environmental, and the third test is for any consumables, 5 forms of environmental, and temperature control.
The Canadian test is for all those things and about 10,000 other things. Turns out I am allergic to micro plastics found in most cheap American food, aluminum but not aluminum foil, a specific chemical only found in American pain killers, artificial gluten usually found at Walmart, and a chemical used on food in the South.
The results also recommend that I get my food locally organic and stay in the North or move to the west coast or leave America. A month later I was put on a food plan where I was delivered food from Germany. For a month I ate mostly this food and lost 65 pounds in 2 weeks. I wanted to keep the subscription going but it was label bad by the FDA and made illegal. A week after the food plan ended I gained 72 pounds and the biggest irony was that I cut my calories count by 1,000 calories. Turns out organic food up north has that chemical in nature organic sprays for food and is now considered safe for all Americans consumers.
I had to purchase a special device from Israel that can detect that chemical by regular touch. It is hard to find food without that chemical but I lost 39 pounds making sure.
I can’t type the chemical into TH-cam or any social media negativity now. Either the post gets deleted or/and I get a strike on my channel.
Let just say liberal stores and companies make sure not to use any chemicals the United Nations deems a threat. Mom’s organic market and Trader Joe’s is some of these stores I know for a fact is safe.

On that topic of the bias against doctors, it reminds me of a friend that used to hate doctors and thought they were useless because of a relative passing away at a hospital. It took time, but their emotions soon calmed, and they realised it wasn't straight up negligence or ignorance that led to their loss.
I also feel like I'm less against doctors and such, but then again I don't live in the hellhole that is America...

The problem is you got one doctor in your ear meanwhile they have every study in the past 100 years+ and every doctors opinionyou got anti vax people somehow getting proved semi right with covid vacines linking to birth defects you got studies in the 20s saying cigarettes are safe you got all this conflicting evidence and your dealing with a va dr whos probably getting paid less than a school teacher the way the military covers for things that aren't weapons so who's gunna take that job old semi retired dr. And fresh out of college just looking for work kids that graduated community college medical school with a c average mix all the conflicting data and new studies showing this only for it to be wrong in 5 years only to have it come out right 15 years later eggs are bad for you no eggs have healthy trans fat no high calories yes high protein and then you and thats honestly why there are so many mistakes especially considering the va
