    I used to play piano in a restaurant. With this video and the previous one I've added new life to my piano style . Just one more video on this topic would get me back into the job market. It could be about arranging a song, repertoire suggestions, what rid do when you don't know a requested song, how to accept a tip gracefully, whether to wear a shirt 😀

    at 17:39 you play something really cool and mention you would do a lesson about this little lick in the future. That would be great! It's this sliding down black keys with the finger, sounds so great! That's the kind of stuff I'm practicing these days...

    Didn't know I could play arpeggios at speed. The three finger thing did the trick. Thanks!

    I have a question for you why is it that when you look at some tutorials on chords like Bb(add9) and watch the video.
    Go look in a book or on line on that chord its not the same notes in the book as the person is using on the video.

    • @ChristianFuchsBlues
      @ChristianFuchsBlues  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      A chord can be represented in very different ways. The ways of representing a chord are called "voicings". some use the root, some not, some the 9, some not. etc...

    Christian, one question: The arpeggios and cascades you were playing were almost all in the key of C (only white keys). I just tried to take this "upward apreggio" pattern you used for Dm7 ( C(1)-F(2)-A(3)-C(1)-F(2)-A(3)...) and tried to play it over a Cm7 ( Bb(1)-Eb(2)-G(3)-Bb(1)-Eb(2)-G(3)...) which is far more difficult. Would you personally say that the most stuff cocktail pianists play is in the key of C because it's much easier to only play with the white keys when cascading/arpeggiating. Would you recommend for a "cocktail beginner" like me to start first in the key of C when practicing those cascades and arpeggios?

    • @ChristianFuchsBlues
      @ChristianFuchsBlues  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, a professional of course plays the songs in their original key.
      C is good to learn the structures. From then on it depends what you want. Create some of those lovely sounds for yourself at home, stay in C. Play songs in other keys: Practice through the keys. ;-)

    • @rainerbuck36
      @rainerbuck36 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ChristianFuchsBlues O.K., thanks! I think I'll start practicing them in C. And from time to time I'll try another key...By the way: that Cm7-Arpeggio-Run I can play but only with two hands. This sounds cool: D-Eb-G-Bb-D-Eb-G-Bb...but it's two hands, so it's not like a real professional. but I like it nontheless :)

    Thank you so much, i have been practicing this pariah piano from your previous cocktail piano thats like growing up. And my wife is actually verbalizing approval when I play the piano now.
    But now i cant wait to get home from work and try the dino trio! And make my index finger more useful for more dignified purposes!!!

      Well she has been on my side for years ever since she said can you please the pretty stuff more and not so much the pounding boogie all the time!
      But even with the pretty stuff i still have ask... how was that? Which she often says oh, that was good, or an occasional great. But now i follow the “christian way of life”,
      I don’t have to ask, how was that! You are right it helps a-lot if she really enjoys my practice of improv on the acoustic piano in the living room!
      My new goal is for her to say two words without being prompted!
