    I use ABS personally. I always bleed of the brakes as I slow down to help rotate the car better into the corner, I find it harder to do that with abs off but ultimately whatever you're more comfortable with is what you should use but I would encourage people to try both out.

      I have mixed feelings about ABS. I play with it on, but I KNOW I'd get better lap times without it. When I raced with it turned off, when I got it right, it was so much more satisfying. BUT... I game on my phone with a razer kishi v2. And the analog sticks and triggers don't have very much travel. So there's such a fine line between no brakes and locked brakes and no steering input to left/right lock that turning things like simulation steering on and ABS off essentially turned Motorsport into a drifting/donut simulator. If I had one of those dope racing rigs, I'd probably turn all assists off

      ABS Off in this game is *WEEEEIRD*
      It’s a mix of Motorsport and Horizon 5. No matter the pressure on the left trigger it always a locks up the brakes every single time.

      @@yeezyszn7208have you tried zeroing out your dead zones? It's one tab further than controller settings under advance controller settings. It helped me get somewhere near consistent controlled scrub/proper threshold braking. Also brakes matter a lot more in this game than Horizon 5 from what I can tell. But I could be wrong, I rarely drove with stock brakes in Horizon.

      No reason to have mixed feelings at all. Human braking has not been able to beat ABS for decades now. Even when ABS was first invented it was still better than the human foot and was outright banned because of the massive advantages that it gave. Forza's assists are straight up fake.

    tons of race cars use abs now , and its not your regular abs like a passenger car. GT3 cars for example have very advanced abs systems and TC systems that have various settings that are adjustable on the fly.

    Your video made me start playing around with ABS on vs off in Forza Motorsport 8, and what I found was that... there's no difference if you're used to NOT using ABS. The good thing about turning on ABS is that you no longer risk locking up your brakes. My conclusion... there is ZERO reason not to turn on ABS. You're still slightly faster if you don't fully dip into the ABS zone.

    Played the first few hours with ABS on, kept flying off the track on sharp turns, turned it off and now I'm way faster on turns. Kinda doesn't make sense tbh, there's a reason why ABS is standard in pretty much every car made today, but I guess Forzas version of ABS gives you more control over the car on gamepad

    I’m liking the game so far, but disincentivizing playing on harder difficulties seems like an odd choice to me. Maybe it’s more realistic that ABS wouldn’t penalize you, but as a person who has braking line and normal steering as my only assists, it’s disappointing to see that all the time I’ve spent developing skills with throttle control, threshold braking, etc is sort of going out the window in a sense.

    • @JustDevon
      @JustDevon  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +18

      Yeah I get what you mean, but I still feel knowing about threshold braking will help you because you'll understand keeping a car balanced better than someone who just smashes the brakes to 100% at every corner.

      I think the idea is the make casuals more competitive and safer (not tempting them with credits to turn of assists).

  • @Kaylos29
    @Kaylos29 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

    I noticed massive amounts of understeer when using ABS early on in the game and immediately turned off and haven't looked back. I p[lay on a wheel and found it much easier to trail brake without ABS, which could kick in on light braking while trail braking. I'm finding it pretty easy to find out the different lock up points of different cars. Forza seems to do a good job of that. Definitely seems to come down to tire grip. Thus average speed GT and Prototype cars with massive aero and huge tires can use a bunch much brake than an old muscle car with a willowy suspension. But in on the Forza GT cars, locking up becomes a pretty big risk as the tires wear off if you are doing something like a no stop strategy in multiplayer. But even then I could tell right away from the FFB and adjusted.

    So in any Forza game I just full on turn off all the assist like all of them and in general, I am my own ABS in way. Like I basically fell out the brakes and know it’s about lock up and hold it there the reason why I have it off in general is so I can actually lock up. And sometimes when I am going super fast into a corner, I just lock up and then I’m slow enough to take that corner or I would just slam it and release and slam and release and it works for me. 😊👍

    I find it unfortunate that they are trying to take away advantages of learning your car so to speak. Always liked how abs worked because it incentivized you to get better and turn it off to get better lap times. I remember I didn't learn to stop using abs until fm5 and it was so gratifying. Took forever but was worth it because you got rewarded with better lap times and car control. Just glad no abs has some advantage still. But the way things are going, we are all going to be running automatics and abs on by the next title 😂. Imagine they make tcs so good down the road that we just start running that too, lmao. Im an ABS user, maybe an ABS abuser to many, and able to keep up at least with the best in the community. it was the same in FH5. I was very much expecting to have to learn ABS off for FM8 as id expect ABS to be slower but as you have demonstrated and from my own gameplay it isnt. My driving style is very integrated into ABS and I am very confident with using cars such as hydra's rs3 tune, there is a certain sweet spot with turn in rotation where u dont get the rear coming out, and I bleed off the brakes towards the apex just like people without ABS. I hope that people who watch this video feel less discouraged if they use ABS, there is nothing wrong with it :)

    Lock up has never been linked to brake input percentage.
    Lock up is based off of the cars weight, suspension, speed, tire width, tire compound, temperature of the tire and track along with the input. Saying that lock up happens at 75% input is not correct because all cars are different, with tunes, and conditions factoring In.
    On top of that if you tune your cars just adjust you brake pressure within the tune to suit the behavior of the car and you don’t have to worry about limiting your brake input.

    • @EXRDaBeasta
      @EXRDaBeasta 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      True but for the most part, it doesn't vary much. 75% is a solid number he used. I tune many kinds of cars and I put them all to 160% bp and for the most part, I'm putting in the same amount of braking into all of them. May vary slightly every now and then but typically I'm braking the same and I'm still right under that threshold. I could run 20 completely different cars with varying weight, distribution of said weight and tires and that sweet spot is typically going to be right about the same.

    • @Delimon007
      @Delimon007 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      It depends, I have come close to my pad times on a wheel but it's FAR harder to drive with a wheel because of all the things going on in the background like controllers having inborne TCS. Using 20-30% throttle on a wheel can cause you to spin out, on a controller you can not even worry about throttle control a lot of the time and get away with it.

    That’s super interesting and I honestly had no idea. I’m definitely going to test it out in the GT cars later.
    Also, I’m not too concerned if ABS is going to help drivers become faster because ultimately that’s what I want. I want more people to get fast at the game so it makes me faster too. Never understood the weird elitism some drivers have when it comes to using assists or not.
