    One of the most unusual hikes I've ever done (e.g. walking on a water pipe???) 😲

    Wow! You guys actually climbed all the way there. When I was in town the road was closed and the journey on foot was an impossible task given that the temperatures were on high 50s Celsius.
    So, anyway, I need a few frames (10 sec) of the lake for my documentary. :D
    Hopefully a few will subscribe to your channel too as a result.
    Happy travels and Merry Christmas!
    P.S.: Go to Uzbekistan (preferably after you learn a bit of Russian). You'll love it a lot more than Kazakhstan.

      @alexistanedo  ปีที่แล้ว

      Wow, 50 degrees! Definitely try again when the temperature is cooler. It’s worth the climb 😅
      Happy holidays and merry Christmas to to you too! I’ve heard great things about Uzbekistan so for sure adding that to my travel list 😄

    I was planning to visit this lake in mid April but now I'm thinking of skipping it. I think, I can have equivalent experience in Sikkim/ Laddakh/ Arunachal so may be I'm not missing much.

    5 hours walking up and down ??? are there nothing like rental bike/bicycle? i want to go to almaty this week, and thian shen range too (kolsai & kandy lake), hopefully you can give me some advice

    • @alexistanedo
      @alexistanedo  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Haha we definitely took the long way of getting to Big Almaty! There’s actually cars/buses that go straight to the lake which takes about 20-30 minutes. I’m sure there’s bikes you can rent from the city, but didnt see any near the entrance to Big Almaty.
      I also went to Kolsai and Kaindy and vlogged it! Both were VERY easy to get to. You’ll need a car since they’re in the mountains. Once you get to the parking/starting point, the hikes are no where near as long as Big Almaty.
      Kolsai - you’ll see the lake right at the entrance.
      Kaindy - 45 mins walk OR you can shorten it by taking a van (I think it costs like 300 tenge per person) and it’ll bring you up half way and from there it’s like a 20 minute walk.
      All beautiful lakes! Let me know which one ends up being your favourite. Big Almaty was my most memorable for sure 😅

      No no! Just right outside of Almaty City

  • @maziarzarea2540
    @maziarzarea2540 ปีที่แล้ว

    whats the farthest you were able to to get with a car?

    • @alexistanedo
      @alexistanedo  ปีที่แล้ว

      The first taxi we took was from the city to the very start of the hike and at that point we were 11.3km away. You'll know it's the start when you see a huge deer statue. We then walked for approx. 1 hour (5km). We hitched a ride and drove for what it felt like 5 minutes because the road becomes gated and only authorized vehicles could pass. The distance between where we got dropped off and Big Almaty Lake was roughly 5km and it took us 3 hours to walk the rest of the way with breaks in between.
      If you don't want to hike at all, there are tour busses that will take you directly to the lake!
