Gautam Buddha light of asia born in Lumbini, Nepal 🇳🇵 pride of our country....... So sad that some uncivilized people tried to destroy history.... Buddham saranam gacchami.
@@akshatjoshi7989 Buddha transcended all boundaries of caste, creed, community and country. After attaining Bodhi gyan (knowledge of enlightenment), Shakyamuni had touched the earth to bear witness of his realisation. Therefore, this world of ours was tamed by Lord Buddha and the ultimate welfare of all sentient beings can be achieved by Dhamma Shashana (reign or rule of Dhamma). Both India and Nepal can be justly proud of their shared Buddhist heritage. People call Shakyamuni the Light of Asia, but he is the Light of the whole world! If only everyone on this earth took inspiration from his message, so much needless suffering would be reduced...

Buddhist are still facing it...just few years ago Bodhgaya temple(where Buddha did meditation) was bombed 12 times by Muslims.. So they keep attacking...
@Ashoka Buddhists all over the world should unite to promote, preserve and protect their religion. Non-violence does not mean inaction in the face of injustice and brutality. We have no right to offend, but every right to defend. Buddha Shakyamuni was called Shakya Singha or the Lion of the Shakyas. Let the world hear the Lion's Roar if it closes its ears to the sound of Dhamma!
@Ashoka Agreed! However, I did not mean that Buddhists should opt for a military solution. I meant that actions taken for defence should not be construed as offensive actions. Governments will listen only when pressure is brought to bear on them through better organisation and lobbying on behalf of Buddhists the world over.
I'm also Buddhist, it's sad that these priceless relics were destroyed but sometimes we gotta let go...lord Buddhist tell us to let go of earthly needs yes? Let go of everything...and none of this will affect you. As long as we remembered about lord Buddha's teaching...then Buddhism will live on.

I just have one question to these people. Why are they(polytheism and idolatry) wrong? I challenge you all to prove to me, using rational and tenable logic and arguments, that polytheism or idolatry is bad and inferior to other forms of worship. Can you do that? If you can't, just be appreciative, respectful and tolerant towards other types of devotion. You have no monopoly over the truth. You don't know the objective nature of the reality. The Greeks view of the world was predominantly secular and rationalistic. It exalted the spirit of free inquiry and preferred knowledge to faith. With only a limited cultural inheritance of the past upon which to build, the Greeks produced intellectual and artistic monuments that had served ever since as standards of achievement. So in some ways the single most legacy of the ancient Greece is the civilization in India and ancient era is particularly influenced by the Greeks, especially in Art, language, culture and mostly covers the all aspects of Human life 2)."The contribution of Greeks in Indian knowledge and culture is so profound that it has maintained to survive more than two millenniums. The Greeks are very famous for their innovative and the anthropomorphic representation of the Buddha in Indian sculpture " 4). *"The Ghandhara School of Buddhist art hence grown up under the great influence of the Greeks. The Greek initiation of sculpting the Buddha in human form matured and it became a major part of the Buddhist iconography."* 5). *"The Greeks also introduced their own architectural and sculptural forms,* like cupids, friezes and Corinthian columns into the Buddhist school. *Several Greek mythological figures were incorporated into Buddhist architectural works,* including Heracles, who became equated to Vajrapani21. *The Greek skills and techniques were endured till the epoch of Gupta. Gupta‟s realistic anthropomorphic representations of the Buddha reflect the legacy of the Greek artistic influence."* 6). *"The two strains of Mathura and Gandhara are finally combined in the greatest school of Indian Buddhist art. During the last century of Greek-oBuddhist era, the Gupta Empire arose in central India. In Gupta‟s sculptures, an idealogical resonant of classical Greece took place.* The physical existence of Mathura, the intellectuality of Gandhara, gave place to a quality of pure spirituality. 43 *The Greek influence at this point was finally absorbed and transcended. It gave to Indian Art its techniques, its plasticity, mind its most sublime image; it has helped to liberate it from the primitive and uncouth images and forms of the ages before the Alexander;"* 7). *"The Greeks influence on Indian Astronomy:* In the earlier ancient Indian culture, the advancement of astronomy in India came from the practice of astrology and the recognition of Indian astronomy is due to that of the ancient Greeks.44The Gargi Samhita of the Yuga Purana accredits as the mastermind of astronomy to the Greeks as well as the Aryabhata ascribes the Zodiac to the Greeks. The Indian astronomy found many innovations by the influence of Greek astronomical tradition. Such as India contributed in giving the name of the days of the week and precise calculation of the length of a year, this contribution to the science of astronomy go back to the Greeks period.4" 8). "The ancient Greeks came across and ingested astronomical information that was arising from a well developed Mesopotamian civilization. Consequently the ancient Greek astronomy brought forth the magnificent scientists; they transferred the astronomical approaches into theoretical science. According to this science the Universe is JPUHS, Vol.30, No.1, January - June, 2017 204 moving along with mathematical objectives that could be inferred by logic and reason as well." 9). "In ancient Greek astronomy he introduced some extraordinary progress, such as the calculation and rotation of the Earth related to the specific stars as twenty three hours, fifty-six minutes and 4.1 seconds (actual 23:56:4.091) and the length of the year was 365 days 6 hours, 12 minutes 30 seconds was just 3 minutes 20 seconds out of the length of the year. This calculation is called of sidereal year. 50 However, there is a variety of discoveries that have been attributed to the origin of ancient Greece. As an example we can mention here that Anaxogoras (510-428 B.C) explained first time that the Moon shines due to the reflected sunlight. The Earth spins are attributed to Philolus. Nevertheless, the involvement through the astronomic sciences by such Indian astronomers as AryaBhatta and Brahma gupta were invaluable and, historically, second only to those of the ancient Greeks.51 "

The custom and practice of making statues, sculptures and paintings of philosophers and religious figures was introduced to Gandhara (eastern Afghanistan and northern Pakistan) by the Indo-Greeks and Greco-Bactrians. It was an ancient synthesis of East and West.

How about Muslim's worship of the "Black Stone". Isn't that an idol too? They still worship their Nabatean god, named Allah. This deity predates Islam. Furthermore, the description of this mythical Maca in the Qur'an fits perfectly with the actual topography of Petra, the capital of the Nabatean Kingdom. Nabatean is the precursor of the Arabic language. Therefore "Allah" is the supreme rock god of the Nabateans and through them, the god of Islam ...
Our ancestors were Buddhists and they have lived their lives happily and peacefully, until their religions were forcibly removed from them. We should all change our religion back to the original Buddhism, as it was the religion of our forefathers, to give true respect to them. We can become Buddhists by practising the Teachings of The Buddha. Buddha has taught to do “no harm to ourselves and no harm to others” as his principal peaceful message. How can we become a Buddhist? By following the Buddha’s teachings of Love and kindness to oneself and to others by “not doing evil things, to purify one’s mind and to cultivate good”. No one can make you or unmake you a Buddhist. It is in your heart and you can practice it in your daily life. We don’t have to shout that we are Buddhists. By practicing the Buddha’s teachings, we become a Buddhists. We make it ourselves from our hearts! ازشما تشکر.

@@omarlittle-hales8237KEKEKEKEKW. I'm so tired of reading this copy and paste sophism. Y'all ain't no scholars, stop acting like you are qualified in fields you've never studied. All your words are conjecture from a basis of being unqualified in the topics you're reaching into. the Vedas do not directly mention Muhammed, you're thinking of a much later puranic script that's been massively corrupted over the years (Bhavishya). The Vedas themselves hold no direct mention and the spots you think do allude to Mohammed, you aren't even translating correctly and the correct translation is not in your favour. There is no Sanskrit scholar that would agree with you . If you actually understood the philosophies you are picking from, you'd see how your beliefs contradict fundamental aspects of dharmic philosophy. Where is Mohammed for the Avadhut? You cant answer that, and that's an issue for the position you hold. And the vedas were not monotheistic in the way you are saying as such. *They mention nirakara and sakara time and time again,* visualizing in their pages different forms and qualities of their forms. You likely dont even know what nirakara and sakara is without google, and even then you won't understand any more than a quick snippet of a definition. *Can you please also explain viveka and vairagya and how they relate towards all this relative multiplicity? Oh you cant?* And with Buddhism, what you just said about it literally contradicts the very foundations of Buddhadharm. First of all you just said "Buddha" you are Buddha - you mean to say Gautama. You are suggesting that Gautama mentioned a prophet of God - implying a permanent and fixed self - while he also implored the reality that there is no self and everything is impermanently at flux amidst this existential shunyata? That doesn't make any sense, but you don't understand the philosophy to recognize that. Your notion that Gautama mentions your prophet, literally almost a thousand years in advance, goes against the very fabric of Buddhist epistemology.
It does seem very cruel...do most people in Afghanistan and South Asia even remember their ancient Buddhist heritage? How many of their ancestors once followed this faith?

It served no purpose to destroy these statues because they were not sacred or of any other value to the people of Afghanistan, since there are no Buddhists in Afghanistan. The Afghan people are indifferent to the statues. They neither cherish nor abhor them and the Taliban were fully aware of this. The only reason they destroyed the statues was to demonstrate to the Afghan people that they were complying with the Islamic prohibition of creating images for worship. Since No one in Afghanistan was worshiping the statues, it was not necessary that they be destroyed in order to comply with Islamic requirements but the local Taliban leader probably wanted to impress the Taliban leaders in Kabul by demonstrating his Islamic zeal. Now, after many years of hard work by many teams of archaeologists these statues will be reconstructed and then, the Taliban will return to power and, in order to regain and solidify their power over the people, destroy these statues once again. It will be difficult, I know, but if it is at all possible, the statues should be erected in a new location outside Afghanistan, if they are to be preserved for posterity.

1). *The ancient Greeks were the “inventors” of more elements of civilization
than any other people of the world.* These elements of civilization can be
viewed among historical writings especially associated with Herodotus
and Thucydides, and the evolution of Democracy having foundational
seeds in Athens. The Greeks view of the world was predominantly secular
and rationalistic. It exalted the spirit of free inquiry and preferred
knowledge to faith. With only a limited cultural inheritance of the past
upon which to build, the Greeks produced intellectual and artistic
monuments that had served ever since as standards of achievement. So in
some ways the single most legacy of the ancient Greece is the civilization

Human life

has maintained to survive more than two millenniums. "

tradition and persisted into the later Gupta period. The Greeks are very famous for
their innovative and the anthropomorphic representation of the Buddha in Indian
sculpture "
4). *"The Ghandhara School of Buddhist art hence grown up under the great influence
of the Greeks. The Greek initiation of sculpting the Buddha in human form
matured and it became a major part of the Buddhist iconography."*
5). *"The Greeks also introduced their own architectural and sculptural forms,* like
cupids, friezes and Corinthian columns into the Buddhist school. *Several Greek
mythological figures were incorporated into Buddhist architectural works,*
including Heracles, who became equated to Vajrapani21. *The Greek skills and
techniques were endured till the epoch of Gupta. Gupta‟s realistic
anthropomorphic representations of the Buddha reflect the legacy of the Greek
artistic influence."*
6). *"The two strains of Mathura and Gandhara are finally combined in the
greatest school of Indian Buddhist art. During the last century of Greek-oBuddhist
era, the Gupta Empire arose in central India. In Gupta‟s sculptures, an
idealogical resonant of classical Greece took place.* The physical existence of
Mathura, the intellectuality of Gandhara, gave place to a quality of pure
spirituality. 43 *The Greek influence at this point was finally absorbed and
transcended. It gave to Indian Art its techniques, its plasticity, mind its most
sublime image; it has helped to liberate it from the primitive and uncouth images
and forms of the ages before the Alexander;"*
7). *"The Greeks influence on Indian Astronomy:*
In the earlier ancient Indian culture, the advancement of astronomy in India came
from the practice of astrology and the recognition of Indian astronomy is due to
that of the ancient Greeks.44The Gargi Samhita of the Yuga Purana accredits as the
mastermind of astronomy to the Greeks as well as the Aryabhata ascribes the
Zodiac to the Greeks. The Indian astronomy found many innovations by the
influence of Greek astronomical tradition. Such as India contributed in giving the
name of the days of the week and precise calculation of the length of a year, this
contribution to the science of astronomy go back to the Greeks period.4"
8). "The ancient Greeks came
across and ingested astronomical information that was arising from a well
developed Mesopotamian civilization. Consequently the ancient Greek astronomy
brought forth the magnificent scientists; they transferred the astronomical
approaches into theoretical science. According to this science the Universe is

moving along with mathematical objectives that could be inferred by logic and
reason as well."
9). "In ancient Greek astronomy he
introduced some extraordinary progress, such as the calculation and rotation of the
Earth related to the specific stars as twenty three hours, fifty-six minutes and 4.1
seconds (actual 23:56:4.091) and the length of the year was 365 days 6 hours, 12
minutes 30 seconds was just 3 minutes 20 seconds out of the length of the year.
This calculation is called of sidereal year. 50 However, there is a variety of
discoveries that have been attributed to the origin of ancient Greece. As an
example we can mention here that Anaxogoras (510-428 B.C) explained first time
that the Moon shines due to the reflected sunlight. The Earth spins are attributed to
Philolus. Nevertheless, the involvement through the astronomic sciences by such
Indian astronomers as AryaBhatta and Brahma gupta were invaluable and,
historically, second only to those of the ancient Greeks.51

For many centuries...Buddhists, Hindus and Zoroaster Persians lived together in harmony in Afghanistan.
The CCP did the same thing during their Cultural Revolution 😞

Oh you cant?*
And with Buddhism, what you just said about it literally contradicts the very foundations of Buddhadharm.
May the blessings of The Triple Gem be upon those who are involved in restoring these ancient Buddhist artifacts.

I saw the documentary about the Buddha statue of bamian. Pakistani engineers went to Afghanistan and destroyed it using dynamite. Think about it that statue was in Afghanistan for 1000s of years and no Afghans ever touched it. Quran says “ for you is your religion and for me is mine”. It also says
“Treat non-Muslims in a kind and fair manner (60:8)”. As you just watched it’s the Muslim Afghans who are putting pieces back together. Pakistan destroyed Afghanistan and will keep doing, because they want Afghanistan to be depended on them for everything. Tliban is an Urdu word. They are created and supported by Pakistan. It might sound strange and racist but it is truth that Taliban (Pashtuns) destroy anything that is not link to Pashtun tribe. Every history is written by dictatorship in Afghanistan is false.. For example Bamiyan Buddha is in Hazara region and is the identity of Hazaras was destroyed..
Please stop this. Do not associate all Pashtuns with the Taliban. You have no idea what you are saying. And yes you are racist by equating all Pashtuns to terrorists. We are a tribe that has suffered the most from these monsters.
If all Pashtuns are not terrorists but all Talibans are Pashtuns, so you tell me who’s right?

*for the destruction of parents of the afghanistan(their history)
