Replace the radiator on your frack motor! There's paint on the fins and that's why you're overheating.
All old copper radiators are painted gherkin, we restore older radiators for over 50 years, they came from the factory painted. If over heating is occurring paint has nothing to do with it.
@billveek9518 so you're saying that a layer of paint on a copper heat sink doesn't affect the emissivity? Tractors don't usually drive direct after the transmission, so with less of a reduction in gear ratio to the output shaft of this particular unit, it is working far harder than any regular tractor would. But what do I know anyhow, you're the tractor specialist 😂
@@Mrcrowntown not enough to cause an engine to overheat, you've seen older radiators in your time, do you remember them being bare metal? No. Aluminum radiators in the new crap are not painted because aluminum doesn't get surface corrosion and the sides are plastic! Actually black paint can aid in heat dissipation, most air cooled motorcycle engines are painted black for this reason, older Harley Davidson cylinders are black for example. Most wood burning stoves are painted black as well because black pigment (carbon) radiates heat better than any actual color pigment. Usually a flat black.

I have a new construction 600' / 6" well. GMP near zero. Had a company frack today. Not the most talkative guys. They used 3000 gallons of water. Said the pressure didn't drop much, "but all the water went somewhere." Tomorrow after 24 hours, I will start 30 minute pumps to get chlorine out. Wondering if you guys run into the same scenario. Love these videos, I have learned a ton in the last few weeks.

I notice you only hydro-frack one area.= of 20 feet or so.
We have a hydro-fracker who does 3 -20 section at a time ...0-20,20-40, & 40-60 hydro- areas. The tube has a drilled different sized hole plate between each stage. A ball bearing of different sizes is drop down as you stop one section and start another. The ballbearing seal the lower section beneath its seat and allow you to pressure the next section.

One of your past videos you were referring to why do they not have auto mech courses in high school anymore .Now in tec schools. Autos now are like modern aircraft which have moved away from a simple cessna 150 to more like the modern A320 airbus-Lots of problems require using analyzing tools(have a look at TH-cam, South Main Auto)sure opened my eyes.I am licence AME avionics (ret.) which is far from my old auto course.This a/c Has only 1 cable run otherwise its hydraulics controlled by electronics. If it's important for accuracy the multiple for meters to feet is 3.28 not 3. Over distance the spread can be significant.

I find your Content interesting especially the fracking, was extremely disappointed that there was no production testing done after the fracking was done
I typically get results in a few weeks.
I only do a test if the customer pays me for my time to do so.

Irrigation well in the back yard 7 feet round 41feet to the bottom 600-1200GMP

So is water being pumped is clean not chemicals. My is low 0.7gpm and i am thinking since its 700ft granite and see if i can use hydrofraking it and see if i can increase it

I truly appreciate these videos. We live in the middle of no where and this content comes in handy! I have 6GPM well and a second 35GPM well ~150' away. Do you think it would be possible to frac since it is already producing 6? I figure it would take a lot of water 😅
It's possible you could hit the same veins. Do you know the depth of both wells? Thats a mahor factor for this.
@@Eggugat The 6GPM is 550' deep, the 35GPM is only 340'. I thought the two wells would produce about the same amount considering the proximity. We farm so the 6GPM is not worth the effort to plumb at this point.

Have you ever dropped the tape down the well as you taped dropping your packer down.
You know what I'd like to see? Electric grid is down and the best method to extract water from your well either by prepping beforehand and having a manual hand pump and/or having a converted bicycle to generate electricity to power your well pump (and which is better/easier to implement).

Sir, you have the best well information on the internet, just not TH-cam! My question is: Where or how can I make or buy the wheel device you use in some videos to bring up an old pump? I have looked everywhere and now I am thinking that I would have to make one. But in your videos I have watched I cannot really make out the whole device you use in order to duplicate it. Would you either share a short video on it or send me a business to contact to purchase such a device?

I live in Upstate NY, just has an 80 well drilled with 60 ft of steel casing for $12k with the pump and hook up to the house. Makes me want to stop being a mechanic and start drilling LOL

The other companies offer a turn key set price for the well & septic. We just cut the hole for them. But mainly they are a septic installer & pump installer. Wells like this one don't leave much money on the table for them

You often tell us you are in 2nd and then 3rd gear. What does that mean? Is it like a car transmission and the higher the gear the more pressure being applied in the fracking process?
@woodworker3122 yes, it's a Muncy 4 speed. High gear means I'm spinning the pump faster, increasing the flow rate I'm injecting into the well.

What Sealant do you use on both Plastic and metal fittings
it seems if there was an occlusion on the house line , i would not get any water. it seems if there were a leak in the house line the pop off would not open.

Is that fusion tape you use anything like 3M Scotch 70? I've used a lot of Scotch 70 for underground connections.
I use a well, but it’s not above ground. My pump is in the crawl space. Would like to sanitize my well but not sure where it is. My wife thinks it would be to costly to find it.
A skilled well company can find it.
I'd access the pipe to the pump, feed a metal snake threw the pipe until it stops, then use a cable locator to send a signal threw the metal wire snake & go outside and see where the signal stops & dig there. I've done it before.

I have a 20" bored well I did myself with a borrowed very old machine. I'm having very low flow over the last few years and I know sediment has gotten into the well early on. I run out of water very quickly but it does recover. When I dug it there was 18' of standing water. Any suggestions?
I have two wells here in California. Both are 900’ deep and both are low producing at around 1/2 gallon/minute. In summer we get almost nothing. Our next door neighbor gets 6 gallons/minute year round. Are we a good candidate for fracking? Anyone in northern California doing well fracking? Thanks!
We have a well that is about 100 foot deep. It was at one time putting out 3.5 to 4 gpm but is now running dry and requires about 15-30 mins to fill back up (estimated). Do you feel fracking would be worth the money to get us back to a point where we dont run dry or should we just go ahead and drill a new one. Since no one can provide a guarantee as to outcome this is a very tough decision to make. Thank you.

What kind of pipe do yall use for the well pump? We currently have schedule 40 pvc and one of the joints failed. The company came out and recommended to replace it with schedule 80 with threaded joints.
How deep is it set?
Do you ever have the pump guy put in a way oversized pump to calculate well production?
If a fracked well ever ran dry & the customer called back, then I'd perform a draw down test a calculate the recovery rate. I've only had to do that once out of roughly 50 fracks.

In my area it seems all these new style trucks drill the well so fast it seals the sides. Of course, they offer hydro fracikng! The old style percussion drillers seemed not to need fracking
Old "pounding" drilling machines would access the upper surface water. We case it out on purpose, bc it will not pass bacteria testing to satisfy the state requirements. If you did go that route, you'd have over 3k in filtration systems to clean up the water.
@@h2omechanic The pounding type drillers still install casing until bedrock. Plenty of people in my area have driven points or natural springs, without any 3k filtration system, just a particle filter. Do you think the speed of the drilling of the new drill trucks is the reason why so many wells need to be hydrofracked today?
@gary no, it's the region we're drilling compared to others. Our upper layer of rock typically is highly fractured & mixes with surface water.
Also when we are near a lake, the wells are deeper & production is very low requiring a frac process. Air rotary drills don't plug up veins, if anything the 350psi will blow them out & help flow
@@h2omechanic Isn't hydrofracing using up to 3500psi? It just seems odd that back before all these super fast drill trucks came out there wasn't any hydrofracing. It sure doesn't take very long to drill a 500' well today. Around here, you're hoping for 20' of casing, but some places with deep bedrock get hundreds of feet.
@gary our casing ranges from 40' to 150'. Wells range from 170 to 800. It's totally dependent upon your region. West VA mountain, you can get a 50ft drilled well. In Texas you can get a 1200ft well & the water level is at 400ft. It's crazy how different it is is different areas.

In 1984 our average Well was 150ft. Now in 2022 our average depth is 350ft. & alot of 120ft> Wells are becoming dry.
My friend recently purchased a home that has a well 250 ft deep. Once they started going to the house the water would disappear for about an hour. 2 plumbers think its going dry because they tested the "mechanics" of it and it all seems fine. They suggested fracking the well. Anything else they should try looking at before going that route? Do you think this is something an inspection should've caught? What testing is done to see the issues?
No. An inspection could not have caught this.
There's a simple way to test this, but you'd need a water level testing device.
Simply pump the water level to 200ft & turn off the pump, then wait 30 minutes to see how fast the well recovers. After 30 mins it should fill up minimum 60-70ft (that's about 3gpm) anything less than that, id frack the well.
@@h2omechanic Thank you. They will double check with the plumber to see if maybe he tried this. Do you believe this is something the seller would've known? It's hard to believe this is just a sudden issue but who knows. Someone said it could have been affected by the new home next door. What do you think from your experience?
@M if its running dry, it's always been a issue. No new well drilled near by would have any negative effects. In theory it would help it. Well veins are all inter connected in the ground in 1 way of another.
You need to get a proper pump test done & figure out what GPM that well makes.

Where I live, fracking is a waste of time. Done every year. Better value to drill deeper.
No one makes it clear what water at pressure is actually doing to the well structure deep in the hole.
Is the water at pressure just pushing on the cracks in the rock hole area below the sealed bladder in order to force sediment backwards out of the fissures ? Once it is forced at speed and pressure it falls in between the area around and outside the borehole and thus the water surrounding the hole can leak in at various multiple spots to feed the well ? Is that what is going on, or does no one know ?
Really like learning from you. I had a 6” hole drilled 700ft in N Georgia and they said it was 1.5 gallon minute. Is that good? I’m thinking of installing pump my self after watching you. What do you think? I haven’t built yet. 😊
Figure out how far the water is from the ground level.
I'd recommend a 5gpm 3/4hp pump set at 300ft. Itll run your house just fine. But not sufficient for major irrigation use. 1.5gpm makes over 2000gal in 24hrs. The average home uses 700 in a day
it's not great. a prime candidate for fracking! it make your investment worthwhile rather than being stuck with 700ft of useless pipe!
Hey man, I appreciate all your great and helpful content. I have a question about a well with a jet pump that I have on my property. A few days ago we got a little bit of water & then heard air coming out of (or air being sucked into) the spout. The old pump burned out so I got a new one, but my problem now is that I pulled out the pipe from inside the well to check that the foot valve was clean. This well doesn’t have a foot valve it has a 3’ long 1 1/4” screen pipe. When I place the pipe back inside the casing it doesn’t go back down to its original depth, I have 7’ of pipe sticking out the ground. I could feel it hitting something it felt like sand so I pulled the pipe back out and the water draining out from the screen was yellow and sandy. Is there any thing I can do myself before I call a well company? Thank you!

sounds like a sand point on the end of your poly pipe. That sand point was likely buried in the sand inside the well for 7', thus the 7' now sticking out.

Nope. If it ever leaked, the packer wouldn't swell, & water would flood out of the well
The company wants drillers to use R/V antifreeze...I just prefer not to follow that guideline.

i have a well 320 ft deep . the pop off valve is 75 psi and is spewing water even with an open fawcet a foot away, the popoff is in the main right atop the well, about a foot of 1,5 inch pipe then a tee, from that tee one goes to a fawcett and the other goes to the house where the pressure tank is. The pressure switch is closing (power to the pump) the tank air pressure is 28psi and theres a 30/50 pressure switch. barely water in house at all. I have tried it with spigots open in the house and with them closed. I have used a garden hose outside from the tee fawcett mentioned earlier open to reduce pressure. do i even need a pop off valve? i replace it a few months ago
You have a failed check valve right before the tank

One meter is 3.3 feet. So 30 meters is 100 ft, not 90 ft.

Forgive my ignorance, but when I hear “ fracking “ all I know is what you hear on the news . What are you doing when you are fracking .
High pressure pump down of water or fluid into the reservoir to "fracture" the rock at weak points as to create more flow of water or oil out of the well. In oil wells they use sand or proppant mixed with the fluid to fill gaps in the rock and create flow channels.

*A long shot i'd catch on this topic here* I've watch a ton of your videos, but haven't run across any that discus CYCLE STOP VALVES, do you ever recommend them? and if not why not. I run a group of 4 sprinkler heads on my well pump where the pump cycles on and off about every 2-3 minutes or so... I'm in northwest Florida. I'm not sure what size pump is in the ground as I recently bought the property and no tags are found anywhere on the setup. There is a huge 6ft tall tank on the system. My thinking was if I could keep the pressure constantly below the 60lb. shutoff while the heads are running it would be better for the pump.
Out of my area of expertise.
I've seen them before and in my opinion, they aren't worth it unless it's a large system for like a camp ground that uses alot of water & specific times for higher demands.
Please help! We had our well drilled before building our new house. 2 gpm. Two days after we move in it went dry. I have asked about fracking it and drilling companies say you can't do it in this area. We are in NE oklahoma. Can someone please contact me? We are devastated.
