I love the part where he is trying to get the walk down because if you have actually ridden a horse, you know exactly why cowboys walk that way. Saddle sores galore~ XD
Johnny Depp originally wanted a music career for himself when he came out to Hollywood from his hometown in Kentucky. He was quickly told to get into acting by Nicolas Cage, who connected him with an agent. Johnny wanted to steer away from the “pretty boy” role that Hollywood wanted to typecast him as, and built up an incredible line up of memorable quirky characters (still considered a pretty boy, though! Can’t escape it 😍😂). So nowadays, it’s really great to see him laid back doing music with Hollywood Vampires, jamming for crowds that appreciate that side of him.

After Rango goes to the other side of the road, you can draw comparisons to dying ("going to the other side"). But it is not the Rango that dies, but the nameless lizard, the person he was. So the Rango could fully be born. So when the owls keep wondering when he will finally die, he already did. Just metaphorically.

Leading to calling Rattlesnake Jake out for a showdown. Then, to that baddie quote "Try me". Also, for bringing the water back. Legit one of my favourite movies of all time. It just gets better every time I watch it. Not a dull moment in it, and manages to be both a comedy and a proper Western movie... with animals. Love it.
Johnny played 2 characters in this movie. He was Rango, of course, and he was also the guy driving the red convertible in the beginning, it was his character from Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas ❤
i also just loveee hearing your commentary on the animation!!! the characters and textures and EVERYTHING are astounding, and not many reactors take the time to appreciate all the little details like you two do
The bit where Jake has ran out of bullets, and he tells Rango he hasn't got the nerve gives me chills. When they first met he said Rango didn't have killer in his eyes, that he couldn't see it. In the moment Rango said "try me" Jake looked afraid because he did in fact finally see it in his eyes, he knew he'd pull the trigger.
I don't know if you noticed already, but the scene on the road at night, Rango does not have any heroic motive or goal when crossing the road, it is more an attempt to end his life while crossing, but as you saw, no man can walk out on his own story
I REALLY want Gore Verbinsky (director of Rango and Pirates of the Caribbean) to do more animated films. ❤️ It’s like Wes Anderson or George Miller where his style is just PERFECTLY suited for animation. ❤️ Very well deserving of his Oscar!!
When I watched the extended scene of Rango, I felt like we needed a sequel to Rango. Rango Unchained? Rango's Redemption? Who knows? Maybe Gore Verbinski will decide to make another sequel
And I agree, this is PERFECT for Gore Verbinski animation. Fantastic Mr. Fox is Wes Anderson's best animation. And Happy Feet is perfect for George Miller's animated films. 3 directors who take their perfect style of filmaking to animation 🦎🦊🐧
Each scene of the movie was acted out in live action by all the actors as the movie was being made to understand how the characters would act and move.
when Rango hits the windshield of the car at the beginning of the movie the guy in the car is actually Johnny Depp from the movie Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
Fun fact: while the walking cacti in this movie are not real, there IS a cactus known as the Creeping Devil aka the Walking Cactus which DOES move across the ground. It does so by growing horizontally and killing off its older portions.
I just watched this movie for the first time today and holy cow it's awesome! The sound design and the score are just incredible and the voice actors really sell their characters. And my god, if a character can show up in the last bit of your movie and be so unbelievably cool that he steals the show, he deserves an award. Bill Nighy is PERFECT for Rattlesnake Jake; his line delivery is so well done for a gunslinger outlaw rattlesnake with a machine gun for a rattle.
I think industrial light & magic had a big hand in why this is so good the special effects team behind Star Wars and many other classics , also this and Fantasic Mr fox are my favorite animated movies both are very good
This movie was based on 2 great western comedies "the pale face" starring Bob Hope and it's remake "the shakiest gun in the west" with Don Knotts about a dentist who went west.
I still come back to this movie sometimes, and it's a great watch every time. Johnny Depp's Rango is a delight to watch, and easy to root for despite the whole "liar revealed" cliche. It was palatably done in this one. And RATTLESNAKE JAKE. I loved his performance. I still sometimes find myself muttering my favorite of his lines: "What was it you said? Pretty soon, no one will believe you even existed." The venom in that delivery - excuse the pun - is just gold. By the by, if you still take movie recommendations, I really, HIGHLY recommend you two watch either "The Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'hoole" or "Wolfwalkers". They're both really gorgeous works of animation that seriously need more attention.
Go to gold, Bill Nighy, we believe in you for playing Davy Jones and Rattlesnake Jake! You too Johnny Depp! Your performance of Rango and Jack Sparrow is well deserved
23:46 This sort of predicted a incident Johnny Depp had while filming Disney's box office bomb, the Lone Ranger. During filming of the Lone Ranger, Depp's saddle slipped off a horse and he fell in front of it with the hooves missing his head by a few inches.
Okay, so story time; there is a scene in this movie that unfortunately didn't make the edit but caused me a giggle attack of pants wetting proportions. When I explain this to people, they truly don't understand why it would be "that" funny. I honestly can't explain why it hit me just right. What do you call it, when a joke hits you just right? The joke doesn't have to make you laugh quite that hard again, but pushed you to the brink of madness and loss of bladder control. Inebriation aside.
Okay, I can't find a clip anywhere and it's going to be pretty anticlimactic when I try to describe it but here goes. When Beans is talking to the bank manager about the water shortage, she makes a statement that causes the manager to react incredulously by going, psssht right in her face. The angle of the camera shows over her left shoulder and slightly back to his reaction, and little tendrils of her hair flutter back. At the time it struck me how close to someone you'd have to be to make that happen, how cartoonish the action and how someone would get slapped for that, but how perfectly the intensity of the action shows how next level incredulous we are.
Fun fact in the beginning of the movie Rango lands of the car of Raoul Duke's car! He was played by Johnny Depp in the cult classic 'Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas'!

So at the beginning of the movie when Rango is being flung through the street and ger smatted on the car windshield that he gets stuck on that one guy with the cigarette that was actually one of Johnny Depp's previous roles in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.
Rattlesnake Jake is right up there with Davy Jones from Pirates of the Caribbean for awesome CGI villains. The way he talks sometimes reminds me of him.
As you mentioned the behind the scenes is great; I mentioned on Thor's vid also. The way the actors full on committed even though they weren't going to be on screen says a lot. Same for Avatar. There's a few clips from the BtS I always remember, and to touch on what NTB mentioned about the more humanistic animal approach, you can really see that in Bill Nighy's performance. So great. Isla Fisher is also fantastic, absolutely love her.
The scene where Rango and the frog gets attacked by a red-tailed hawk is 1 of the best chase scenes ever. Btw, that's what hawks do. When their prey is in a bottle, they pick it up, fly it up really high, and drop it. Not only so the prey will be dead, but also so that the glass will be broken and they'd be able to eat it. I love birds!😊
Lol do all the reactors just get together and discuss what movie they’ll post next? I’ve seen a lot of new Rango reactions from one of the most popular reaction channels 😂
This is a positive version of the media's Twitter echo chamber. They are all subscribed to each other just like we are subscribed to them. And they watch what everybody's doing and it truly does cause a trend of reactions. So we get awesome reactions to great movies. The media follow each other in Twitter and end up just spreading the same wrong bullshit over and over until the world is so confused about what's happening that it wants to tear itself apart.
There's a good chance that there's just a lot of people reacting to Johnny Depp movies right now, to show support for him, what with the current trial.
That one of the things about that i really love about Rango villain, Rattlesnake Jake. He's just a man of business and he doesn't even die or get defeated like most villains, once Rango had won Jake gave him respect and left.
I love it when people react to this movie, it’s one of the best! And so is Rattlesnake Jake. This movie always makes me nostalgic for living not far from that area.
Rango is a movie that left me cold when I first viewed it but won me over upon subsequent viewings to the point that I consider it a superior animated movie. Depp's voice is great for animation. He did a stellar job as a yogi in the series King of the Hill.
The windshield that Rango lands on is on the car driven by Raoul Drake from "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" played by Johnny Depp and inspired by a book written by Hunter S. Thompson.
@@rozey_posey3141 Plus Rango got an Oscar award in 2012. Kung Fu Panda was part of the Oscars, but did not seek the award. Thank you Gore Verbinski for directing such a masterpiece of animation!

Actually when Rango mentions that he and Rattlesnake Jake's mom had a social active lifestyle, in terms of evolution it's actually true. Both Lizards and Snakes belong to the same family called Squamates.
The model for Rattlesnake Jake was so big and complex that he had to be animated in two separate parts. His design and personality were also inspired by Lee Van Cleef, certified badass western actor who costarred in two Man With No Name films with Clint Eastwood. Speaking of, the Spirit of the West was not voiced by ol' Clint but Deadwood star Tim Olyphant.
This movie made my childhood even better I saw this movie in theaters and probably 100 more times after,I love this movie it's perfect.Johnny Depp is a legend.Rango is the 👑.
In the last stages of heat exhaustion before you die… you get extremely cold… and hallucinate… I’ve lived in the desert my entire life and people die out here ALL the time.
I need to point this out, but Rattlesnake Jake is voiced by Bill Nighy, the same actor for Davy Jones. And this movie’s directed by the same guy who directed the 3 first Pirates of the Caribbean movies, Gore Verbinski. So it’s a cool reunion between Johnny, Bill and Gore.
I just watched a Norse God react to this while I was working earlier today, and lamented not watching it after. What a coincidence that the two of you, who have a special appreciation for animation, get to enjoy and shed some light on this masterpiece
When this movie came out I didn't really understand it, but when watching the behind the scenes and motion captures, it was too hilarious and so enjoyable that I decided to give it another go.
This Is Scene From Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 Out Of Shadows Rise Of The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Rise Of The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles The Movie and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Mutant Mayhem
33:49 So another dark aspect about this movie despite being labeled a “Kids Movie” is that during this scene Rango wasn’t actually trying to make it across he was trying to commit suicide. Yet he still managed to get across as if something wasn’t allowing him to die because his story wasn’t over.
I honestly wouldn’t describe this as a kids movie cuz there was just so much that went over my head and confused me when I was a kid, and a lot of others had the same experience
The main plot of Rango takes a lot of inspiration from 'Chinatown' (1974) starring Jack Nicholson, Faye Dunaway, and John Huston (who the Mayor's animation is based on).
To truly appreciate this, especially the soundtrack, you guys need to see the holy trinity of spaghetti westerns. Fistful of Dollars, For a Few Dollars More and The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. Also known as the Dollars Trilogy. There you get to see Clint Eastwood in all his Man With No Name glory and in the second two Lee Van Cleef an iconic western bad ass. He usually plays either bad guys or at least morally ambiguous guys.

@@natecloe8535 I'm hoping for Elon Musk to take over and fix Twitter because Mars Suckerburglar can't with his Facebook
Rango will always have a special place in my heart and will always remain my number one movie.
A great actor and a great and kind man . Justice for Johnny Depp!!!
Rango is a movie that left me cold when I first viewed it but won me over upon subsequent viewings to the point that I consider it a superior animated movie. Depp's voice is great for animation. He did a stellar job as a yogi in the series King of the Hill.
this movie is like a fever dream. there was about a month a few years ago where i thought i made this movie up 💀
Animation fever!
Planned by: Rango
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaa i asked for this a while back, its soooo underrated THANKYOU SO MUCH for reacting! T^T
Wow its be awhile since I have seen this movie
Idk how many times i've watched this movie great reaction as always
“Because this is where it gets complicated”
Yep, you need a very good hability to lie, but Rango is good in words.
Rango never was from the west, and he didn't kill the Jenkins brothers
He is nothing but a fake and a coward
"Ain't that right?"
"yes"
"LOUDER"
"Yes"
What a sad moment for Rango 😔
accomplicated
Working at a theatre that rango credit song haunts me years later still
One of my favorite parts is in that canyon scene, the frog guy was shooting and loading his lever shotgun with one hand
The windshield that Rango lands on is on the car driven by Raoul Drake from "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" played by Johnny Depp and inspired by a book written by Hunter S. Thompson.
2011 was a terrible year for animation but Rango was one of the shining stars among the dead space of bad and mediocre movies and animated stuffs
Kung Fu Panda 2 and Arthur Christmas are both fucking awesome movies that came out that year.
@@legendaccount3247 people don’t give Kung Fu Panda 2 the respect it deserves
@@rozey_posey3141 Plus Rango got an Oscar award in 2012. Kung Fu Panda was part of the Oscars, but did not seek the award.
Thank you Gore Verbinski for directing such a masterpiece of animation!
Kung Fu Panda 2, Puss in Boots, Arthur Christmas
@@abc.animal5143 Arthur Christmas wasn't in the Oscars, but it should be well deserved!
A Cat In Paris, Chico and Rita, Kung Fu Panda 2, Puss in Boots, and Rango (Winner) are the ones that were in the Oscars
I love the slight acknowledgment of fear and loathing in las vegas
every time i watch rango i get thirsty like im in the desert myself...
it shows how well they managed to make me immersed in the world they created...
Omgomg I had missed you guys reacting to this!
*runs to watch*
Actually when Rango mentions that he and Rattlesnake Jake's mom had a social active lifestyle, in terms of evolution it's actually true. Both Lizards and Snakes belong to the same family called Squamates.
wait i want to hear about those rocks in the desert that moved
I love this movie so much! The animation style, the unique character, realistic looking weapon, the themes etc,
The lighting and texture detail paired with the sound design really added to the immersion of this film for sure.
Which makes this a masterpiece of Johnny Depp's performance
rango is one of my favorite movies and its my favorite johnny depp movie
Fun fact the voice of rattlesnake jake is the same actor who played David Jones in pirates of the Caribbean!!!
Davy*
And yes Davy Jones played Rattlesnake Jake and he was voiced by Bill Nighy
I am BEGGING y’all to watch speed racer (2008), you will absolutely love all the green screen and artistic VFX. PLEASE
Behind the scenes is so much fun for this. Johnny is really hilarious.
Did you know that the driver who sprays and swipes Rango is a parody of another Depp's character from the movie Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
5:17 LOL I never noticed that Hunter S. Thompson cameo before. Perfect.
This is my #2 most favorite Johnny Depp movie (right after "Ed Wood").
Absolutely loved this reaction! Thanks for actually showing most of the movie to get the full experience. 🙂
Great stuff 👌 #JusticeForJohnnyDepp
When this movie came out I didn't really understand it, but when watching the behind the scenes and motion captures, it was too hilarious and so enjoyable that I decided to give it another go.
This Is Scene From Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 Out Of Shadows Rise Of The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Rise Of The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles The Movie and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Mutant Mayhem
did anyone noticed the decorated iron tip of the birds beak? it might suggest he is some sort of gunslinger too
And today I am watching you watching my favorite childhood movie
33:49 So another dark aspect about this movie despite being labeled a “Kids Movie” is that during this scene Rango wasn’t actually trying to make it across he was trying to commit suicide. Yet he still managed to get across as if something wasn’t allowing him to die because his story wasn’t over.
"Listen up you pathetic fraud, this is my town now. If I ever see you again I will take your soul straight DOWN TO HELL!"
- Rattlesnake Jake
I honestly wouldn’t describe this as a kids movie cuz there was just so much that went over my head and confused me when I was a kid, and a lot of others had the same experience
Would love to see your reaction to the behind the scenes of the voice recording for this movie. So much fun!
Rango is a masterpiece Mr. Jones my neighbor loves Rango too!
Guys this was awesome of you x
I saw the video on those moving rocks! Totally wild that they finally solved it!
