Thank you Harry Has for opening my eyes about the myth of needing to wear clothes. I have a job interview tomorrow and instead of wearing a suit and tie I will be wearing nothing at all. Very cool!
i think that "no shorts and hoodies" rule is so BS, because there is a certain kind of weather when it's chilly if you just stand still, but once you walk long enough you get significantly hotter, and for that type of weather shorts give you enough breathing area to cool down and a hoodie gives you just enough warm. i might not speak for everyone here, but for me my arms get colder much faster than my legs do, so this combination makes perfect sense.
I totally agree with that, besides some might not feel comfortable enough in their body for short sleeve upper and shorts make perfect sense for temperature regulation
I massively agree on the skinny jeans take. Everyone is saying 'no' to skinny jeans across the board but some people's style and body type can pull them off fine. I think the hate comes from when everyone was wearing them even though they don't have the body type for them (me included) 😅
The customer target of skinny jeans is already on its name "Skinny" If you're not skinny, for sure you will not look good in them. Either you're short or tall, if you're skinny it will look dope on you. Hail Hedi!!!
For sure - I dress for my body shape and slim jeans work best for me. My body shape means that if I wear less fitted denim, I look super boxy and not in a good way.
I think its a generation thing. Less than 3 years ago skinny jeans was the norm, sudenly people hate it, and now is considered tacky. Now pay attention in who is the people that is saying it look tacky, most of the time are tennagers discovering their style for the first time.
100% agree with this. I think a lot of fashion TH-camrs and influencers are digging too much into trends, elevated fits, dressing your age, yada yada yada, etc etc. People can dress however they want. It's only people who are obsessed with looking universally good that are the ones who limit themselves with these rules.
Love the premise of this video, I feel like this is touching on something people are totally experiencing online with fashion advice but there isn't a conversation around. Hope this can help cut through the noise for everyone :)
There's so much out dated fashion advice out there, especially the first few clips you showed. I know I'm a bit of a hypocrite because I talk about things people should and shouldn't wear, but as long as you know how to style it you can wear anything and look awesome!
Yes Harry, drag them! The "never wear" videos are terrible, the moment they say don't do this, I immediately try it out and think, this is great! I know there's a place for those videos for beginners to get basic rules down, but man, the moment you have any level of awareness of style and fashion, those "rules" go out the window.
In my conception, fashion has no rules. Classic style has rules, but even then, they variate from age and culture. What content creators should do is to give tips for beginners. As you get more used to clothing and more confident on trying different things, it gets easier to pull out more complex looks. Fashion is fun, shall we all be creative and have fun ✌️
I thrifted a pair of chocolate brown Dickies 873s recently and started pairing them with a lot of black and grey pieces that I have. Couldn’t agree more with you, Harry, brown and black/grey are more complimentary than people realize.
Dude, I love fall and spring because I can almost always wear hoodies/sweaters with shorts. Also, I exclusively wear socks with sandals unless I know I’m going to the beach or something. Got really into crocs this summer and even if you have the right size, sometimes they slip around too much if you’re barefoot.
Shorts and sweatshirt is incredibly practical if it's chilly in the morning, hot during the day and chilly at night. If you are out all day it's better to layer and take off/put on layers as needed.
@@worldmusictheory I just think navy and black look extremely boring and any other color could look better. Brown and black depends on the shade, if it doesnt have enough contrast it can look boring too.

Sandals and socks really depends how it is styled I feel. Haters of sandals and socks have this dad stereotype in their mind with cargo shorts, tube socks and functional sandals. HI Harry, this is a great video, as always. Instead of absolute "rules", I think it's better to label those as convention or norms, and with those, there are always rooms for exception. Like, everything should be assessed according to its particular context, including people's build or skin, occasion, purpose, and even place. In regards to place, I remember this "rule" that older people should no longer wear sneakers except when they are working out. Having lived in the US in the past, I can see that there's some sort of a custom for working people to wear more formal clothes and pair those with leather or more formal shoes. However, in China the custom can be different in different settings. Some older people still love to wear casual sneakers even to work and nobody bats an eye. So, context really matters. Having said that, I think you missed one thing about those influencers you featured at the beginning, Harry. Some of them love to stress on "rules", and I don't really like that. However, they do not all have the same purpose. Some want to make people look more unique, while some others (like Ashley for example) want to make people look more acceptable (by particular standard in particular setting). People have to consider the "purpose" or the "orientation" of the influencer when assessing what they teach (preach?)
The skinny jeans trend which has lasted years has been one of the worst trends ever. Just because indeed it doesnt suit most people. The fatter you are the uglier it gets, especially when you dont have a nice leg shape. It only suits super fit or lean people. I wont start on leggings, which went along the skinny jeans trend. A disaster.
I have this weird thing where my legs don't get cold but my upper body does so I wear hoodies/sweatshirts with shorts a lot of the time. Never even knew it was supposedly taboo.
Great video. It's definitely a good thing that no one likes the same things. And if you feel that you don't have the right build for something, don't let others confuse you. It's a matter of what feels comfortable, and self confidence. I for one don't think that skinny jeans will ever go out of style. If you want to put them on, go for it!!
Having a sense of personal style is better than following any arbitrary fashion rules that changes with the season. Like just last night I told myself “I’m gonna bring back skinny jeans”, and I will, and it’ll be fabulous.
This a great. Though I'm an old dude (57) and dress age-appropriate, I do many of these things in the right settings. So many other men's fashion/lifestyle YTers, warn against trends and all the faux pas when in the next season, they'll say they're on trend. Sure, I'm not going to wear socks and slides to go to dinner with my wife, but when they are both from an athletic company they can look great (and are comfortable) when it's spring/summer and you're running errands. Many channels neglect that life is about 90% work (remote) and doing mundane things. They act like life is a slow-motion video of me getting out of a car I cannot afford wearing clothes that are for a fancy night out (which I do about 2x/year). Thanks for being real.
wow i guess i am breaking so many of these.. i wear my docs with shorts often and i wear almost exclusively longsleeve/jumper/hoodie with shorts year round its a great combo for all season
As a big dude, I ALWAYS wear hoodies and shorts together. Best combination and honestly, it fits the California aesthetic (because I live there) and it just makes me more unique.
This needed to be said. In 🇨🇦 shorts and a hoodie or jumper is very common because of the climate, and mix of shade and sunlight, along with outdoor activities throughout the day.
Bro I love your approach to style. I always cringe when someone says “don’t wear X”. I always have. Even when I was younger and didn’t know any better, and just listened to them anyway, inside I was still like “well that’s still dumb. Why not just wear whatever” but at the same time fashion is real and finding something you genuinely think looks good takes effort. So it’s not like don’t put in effort. You just gotta work to find what you like. And that’s what your channels all about. Keep it up my g 💯
The most important fundamental in Fashion actually comes from Visual Design. Don't focus on what looks bad, just focus on what looks good. So basically if you don't like something about your body, find something you do and wear that proudly. Small guys with tiny frames can weak tight shirts to show their tiny rib-cage. That will also make their shoulders look bigger.
6:14 i know is not the firsttime you point this, but is always nice to hear it and have a reminder... Wear what you like, no matter your age, as long as you style your pieces adequately and make them work with you instead of against you. If you think about It, it shoul be common sense but sometimes we forget.
i've been doing the boots (Timbs or Panama Jacks) with shorts (above the knee) for many summers now and i've loved that look for a long time on myself! I never even knew some people were opposed to this, but then again why would i care haha. Anyone can make any fashoin choice or choice in general and that's entirely their own decision. If you make fashoin choices based on other peoples opinins as to whether they would like it or not then you have failed as an independent and free human being IMO. Great video!
It's only about time, people will get tired of the minimalist look that's so popular now. They'll soon call it bland and boring... Fashion changes but it's a cycle. People start to hate anything that's popular and try to look different. Everybody will try to look different and end up looking like everybody who ties to look different. Thank you Harry for reminding us to just wear whatever feels comfortable and right.
@HarryHas Regarding the skinny jeans, please notice that all of the "right built" people that you mentioned has a super skinny built, so basically the skinny jeans looks on them almost like the regular jeans fit looks on us the "not so skinny" people. Love your vids, by the way.
The “no boots and shorts” is so funny to me. I know that goth/metal is pretty much its own thing and not really seen as fashion However it’s so common in those scenes. As someone who is into multiple different styles it’s just funny hearing that when you see it so often.
I hate graphic tees from Target. they're not funny or bold enough to be worn ironically. they're usually based on pop culture and not something that would prompt a conversation. I think graphic tees can be pulled off easily if they are rare/subtle/vintage. you have a Jesus camp tee from 1978? I'm in. you have an avengers tee you just bought? I'm out.
My take on fashion is just find what better suits u and whatever u feel the most confident and confortable. I personally dont jump in too deep on fashion trends but i rather pick some things from them that can fit my own personal style and work around it
the key, i think, to skinny jeans is to take into consideration rise and the level of stretch. a pair with a higher rise and no stretch will look way more timeless! it goes right back to the 70s and 80s punk movements. the ramones, who made skinny jeans popular in the first place, wore Levis 505s, which at that time were a real slim cut! just food for thought, i think.
I do notice the increase of people wearing jorts and I really think it looks good on them if you know how to wear it. Agree on everything Harry has to say here
Harry you're a size 30-31 you DEFINITELY have the build to pull off a rockstar look, with your thin waist and wide shoulders you would honestly look WAY more intimidating and interesting than the typical SLP models who look like they might fall if the wind blows a little hard. Like you've said you don't need to conform to the same fashion standards as other people, ie. as long as you're generally lean and stay fit skinny / slim should always look appealing when styled particularly.
I threw away a pair of jorts recently and I'm starting to regret it. One look I can never seem to get my head around are white socks with dressier shoes. In the 90s this was just a big NO (except to the gym) and it's kind of stuck with me since. I used to love logos and graphics 10 years ago, but these days the branding/graphics has to be very minimal. Too much branding on those ALD tops for example. I don't want to walk around looking like a billboard for them. Skinny jeans are for skinny people only. Period ! Great content as usual. Your the man !
great video to debunk those pesky restricting myths. as a socks-with-crocs/socks-with-birks enjoyer, i say "f them" lmao. let them seethe while i bask in max comfiness. and since i'm 5'7", it's important for me to look up inspos from other short people (i usually look at people like Tim Dessaint or i just google japanese streetwear inspo).
3:55 I've always worn my Jordan slides w socks. I grew up playing basketball, and we wore our socks and slides to and from the court, carrying our basketball shoes in our backpack. So it's always been normal to me
As someone who gets cold easily on my upper body, I like wearing a hoodie with shorts when I'm going to the convenience store. I thought the combi looks fine, which was surprising that there are people who seems to really dislike it.
Yeah stuff like this definitely is a bit difficult because some of these things I thought looked horrible (the shorts with boots being the biggest example) but in the end, you should wear what you want as long as it isn’t offensive to others. You’ll definitely stand out with some of these looks so if you want that, go for it
I hate the takes of: mens fashioner. She is basically saying that half of the different types of clothing cant be worn and so on. I feel like she is completely against personal style. For example she said that pleated trousers, black chinos and so on shouldnt be worn. She wants everyone to look so boring and I just hate that. Thank you for encouraging personal style and expressing yourself through fashion.
Its all subjective. Its just annoying that alot of content creators sell their opinions as facts and hard rules. Thats where the confusion comes from. Nobody says "in my humble opinion", obviously I dont expect it, but that should be the mentality. Shouting at people at the camera what they have to do and shouldnt do, and make them paranoid of making a fool of themself, sells alot better on social media tho. You also have to tell people that there is this one truth and that you know it, to make a name for yourself and gain popularity. I sound like an old man shouting at clouds, Im aware.
I always wear a silver bracelet that belonged to my late father, even if I wear other jewelry that is gold. Where I live in the States, the hoodie with shorts thing is just practical, especially for students because the temperature can vary considerably from one part of the day to the next, and when the weather is hot outside, the over-air-conditioned classrooms are often really cold.
I didn't even watch the video yet but I just wanted to say thank you Harry. I don't know what I would do without you and many others - I would just be wearing whatever other people told me to wear, with no confidence of my own. These "do this, don't do that" videos and opinions are such bullshit. I remember that you've said this before, but you're not going to please everybody, so just wear what you want to wear(within dress-code lol) and the people who like your authentic style will come to you, and the people who don't like it, well, if they don't like you for being you, then they don't matter anyways.
You know Matt's respectfully disagree with you on that whole skinny jeans thing but this is coming from a guy that often. We're just wide leg trousers ninety-nine percent of the time so you know there might be some biases there just that says my also I had a very bad experience with skinny jeans because I got stuck in a pair of skinny jeans ones anyting skinny anyting
I completely agree with everything in this video. Especially about the skinny jean thing. When skinny jeans became popular, I pretty much bought nothing but skinny jeans. And they still fit me and they still look great. And I like wearing them. So why would I switch to something I don't like when I already own plenty of something I do like? On shorts, I was wearing shorts above the knee back when it was super unpopular to do so. And now everybody is doing it. Soon they won't. But I don't care. I'm going to wear what I want to wear.
Just do whatever makes you comfortable and happy. Trends change every time you change your underwear, so there isn't much reason to follow them. I like skinny jeans, like I'm not 15 anymore so I don't wear literal girl pants (I was a scene kid, I wore bright coloured girl pants and big bulky skate shoes), but I think slim tapered pants are a good look. A lot of these things can be done well, and maybe that's where the issue is. Maybe people don't have an issue with the concept, but the execution.
The one tip that I can say is what matters is that you're comfortable in what you're wearing, that's all that matters. That's the one thing I always put in my mind whenever I'm in doubt if I look good in what I'm wearing LOL I would just say on my mind that nahhh This is okay I'm comfortable with it so I'll wear it😁
Thank you Harry Has for opening my eyes about the myth of needing to wear clothes. I have a job interview tomorrow and instead of wearing a suit and tie I will be wearing nothing at all. Very cool!

Thank you for the video Harry! This was just what i needed to hear for spicing up my style✌Seems like i follow the "rules" too much😅
Thanks for watching mate
Honest question, what looks bad about the outfit at 5:35? Is it because of the big brand logo?
I used to live in Dubai and Boots with Shorts were my go-to when we hung out in the desert 👌🏾
Yep australia is the same. You can have a huge difference between early morning and afternoon
I'm so glad you mentioned the skinny jeans because I gave up trying straight/baggy jeans. I think they make lower part of my body too wide.
Same. You need to have naturally wide shoulder to balance the bottom or some arm muscles. If not body look disproportional and bottom heavy,
I completely agree with u on every point made. W video
Thank you bro! Glad you liked this one
Thanks are in order.
We do spend too long paying attention to myths and forget to have fun.
Great vid.
God bless you.
Thank you bro
A hoodie with shorts is like THE summer evening combination imo.
I like the message, as long as you look good in it, then you can wear it.
Thank you Harry Has
No problem bro. Thanks for watching
That fit with the CPs Achilles low is 🔥🔥🔥
6:14 i know is not the firsttime you point this, but is always nice to hear it and have a reminder... Wear what you like, no matter your age, as long as you style your pieces adequately and make them work with you instead of against you. If you think about It, it shoul be common sense but sometimes we forget.
Well said!. Breaking the mold is just for the brave. What sets us apart from the blinded follower's crowd
i've been doing the boots (Timbs or Panama Jacks) with shorts (above the knee) for many summers now and i've loved that look for a long time on myself!
@HarryHas
Regarding the skinny jeans,
please notice that all of the "right built" people that you mentioned has a super skinny built, so basically the skinny jeans looks on them almost like the regular jeans fit looks on us the "not so skinny" people.
Love your vids, by the way.
You're the only person to make me come around on skinny jeans. Great video 👍👍
Awesome video ❤ I love skinny jeans I was starting to feel bad for all the hate on Internet about them
Thank you dude.
Some of the better advice you've given is to ignore the rules and do your own thing.
love the hoodie + shorts combo, dont care what anyone says!
The “no boots and shorts” is so funny to me. I know that goth/metal is pretty much its own thing and not really seen as fashion
However it’s so common in those scenes.
Agree on everything Harry has to say here
🤟
Absolutely agree with everithing and yes i do like socks with slippers and sandals
Hugs from Portugal ❤
Harry you're a size 30-31 you DEFINITELY have the build to pull off a rockstar look, with your thin waist and wide shoulders you would honestly look WAY more intimidating and interesting than the typical SLP models who look like they might fall if the wind blows a little hard. Like you've said you don't need to conform to the same fashion standards as other people, ie. as long as you're generally lean and stay fit skinny / slim should always look appealing when styled particularly.
Such a conscious mind!! But there’s always a paradox when you teach people not to listen to what others teach😂
Thanks bro
great video to debunk those pesky restricting myths.
as a socks-with-crocs/socks-with-birks enjoyer, i say "f them" lmao. let them seethe while i bask in max comfiness. and since i'm 5'7", it's important for me to look up inspos from other short people (i usually look at people like Tim Dessaint or i just google japanese streetwear inspo).
This is the definitively the correct take on the subject.
Pleased to hear mate
Most of the “fashion rules” you mentioned are my favorite ways to spice up my fits lol
Love this whole vid! Very "know the rules so you can break the rules" :)
Yoooo Harry, the intro is great. Some of those channels are ridiculous
Thank you mate
Awesome videos man, can wait for watch this one first
Thanks bro
3:55 I've always worn my Jordan slides w socks. I grew up playing basketball, and we wore our socks and slides to and from the court, carrying our basketball shoes in our backpack. So it's always been normal to me
I think it can look cool
As someone who gets cold easily on my upper body, I like wearing a hoodie with shorts when I'm going to the convenience store. I thought the combi looks fine, which was surprising that there are people who seems to really dislike it.
I like everything you say wear whatever you like it’s fun and experimental!!! Be yourself!!!
Thanks mate
Can you post a video about the struggle of getting dressed/knowing how to pair items? i still struggle.
Great video and idea! Awesome stuff lately Harry
Thank you very much mate
My favorite fashion bloger, thank you for the video! Btw when we will get the fall outfits lookbook?))
Ahh appreciate that mate. Glad you like the videos. I will do fall videos for sure 🤟
I always say ‘in my opinion’ because that’s all it is. Fashion is definitely subjective 🤟
When matching black and navy, especially midnight navy, you can’t let one color dominate the other. It will look like you can’t see the difference
Really appreciate your content man! Awesome video!
Thank you very much dude
I live for that "see ya later" at the end of all your videos
Hahaha thanks for watching the whole vids 🙏
@@HarryHas it's easy when they're so entertaining and informative 😅
🙏🙏🙏
You know Matt's respectfully disagree with you on that whole skinny jeans thing but this is coming from a guy that often. We're just wide leg trousers ninety-nine percent of the time so you know there might be some biases there just that says my also I had a very bad experience with skinny jeans because I got stuck in a pair of skinny jeans ones anyting skinny anyting
I LOVE wearing my "Adiletten" with white socks + nike shorts combo.
Smart advice right here 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻
Thank you mate
Personality and the way you carry yourself make a huge difference. It's about expression. These things shouldn't be boiled down the rulesets.
brown/black and navy/black looks phenomenal
Agree man
Your hair looks really good!
Sandals and socks are based. Always love your open minded attitude towards dressing, much love
🙏
The one tip that I can say is what matters is that you're comfortable in what you're wearing, that's all that matters.
That's the one thing I always put in my mind whenever I'm in doubt if I look good in what I'm wearing LOL I would just say on my mind that nahhh This is okay I'm comfortable with it so I'll wear it😁
