    I just bought this exact bike today. The cockpit is different but it’s this model. I rode it for a hour today on our tamer lower level but dry trails so I didn’t really get to let it loose. I’m coming from a Transition Patrol and I will tell you this, I forgot I was riding a big 29” bike immediately. I didn’t even think about it once. It’s insane how fast you can get that thing up to speed too. I caught my friend immediately. I’m really excited for this season!

    You ride only flow trails and review the enduro on those? You need gnarly stuff otherwise you will be faster with a 130/140mm trail bike.

      This would have been my question also...the first track, which I have seen in your other videos is for bikes with maximum 130mm...while the forrest ones...I swear, I(middle aged, corporate (almost)fluffy guy) have parricipate in amateur XC races that had gnarlier courses. The ones in the forrest aren't even trail worthy...they are pure XC(120mm of travel at most) - I know the camera smooths up things a little, I have taken into consideration already -. For that type of trail, 170mm of travel is waaaay waaay way too much. Let's see it down some real mtb courses, not xc type ones.
      P.S. I also never heard anyone saying that the backend of a sb150 is stiff and rough, quite the opposite. I did hear that most of them are brought for the badge and then sold in a couple of months due to it's habbit of throwing ppl overboard if they don't know how to steer it.

      eugenux all your statements may be true but at the end of the day we all have different tastes! I personally do not like short travel bikes at all! Literally have 0 interest in even throwing a leg over one. To each their own! I love the feel of a big bike even on the smoothest of trails. I don’t know where you are from but out here when you look around it’s pretty much 150mm an up. Rarely and I mean rarely do I see anyone riding a small travel bike these days.
      I am also not out to win any XC races or even compete in said type of race! I prefer a big gushy bike that gets me down the trail with a big ass smile in my face! 😎

    I had a Whyte S150 C Works, loved it but had entered some gravity enduros and was looking at a Yeti SB150 (my misses has an SB5). In hindsight I should have just put bigger forks on the Whyte (as most races now cancelled / delayed), but got a great deal on a 2020 Enduro S-Works. Whilst it is a BIG bike it rides lighter / fine on flat trails too...sure a 140mm bike would be better, but it is still just about playful enough for me and you know it just has so much in reserve when it eventually can be taken back to some bigger terrain! I'm just about 6ft and ride an S4, but use all the spacers and have kept the 50mm stem....feels spot on.

  • @dank6761

    I just bought an SB165. Not tried it yet but know my SB6 was harsh. It's the high antisquat and low leverage rates of Yeti, which is why they pedal well. I think the 165 is a bit different and have yet to try it but if you want a sofa like squishy rear end, the king is the Capra, just sitting on a Capra the way it squats until sag point you can tell hiw squish it is, small bump and traction is anazing on the Capra. But anyway I bought the SB165 with PUSH 11/6 so have high expectations even if I know it's a Yeti and they are not know for being squishy.

    Great review. My buddy Andrew just picked up a 2020 Transition Sentinel and we did a head to head comparison of that vs my 2020 Yeti sb150 this week as well! I’m always amazed how different long travel 29er’s can have such similar geometry and such different feel when you ride them back to back.
    I’m curious how you specced your sb150. I ended up with an X01 build with a few extra add-on’s and it took me about 4 weeks of solid riding and constant little tweaks to get the Fox X2 really dialed in. It was a pain, but once it’s dialed in man it’s so butter smooth. Keep it up dude! 🚵🏻‍♂️🙌🏼

    • @mtbnorcal8
      @mtbnorcal8  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cycle Path I know right!! They all feel so different! I did the X01 as well. Put Renthal Carbon bars, renthal 33mm stem, oneup pedals, DHX2 Coil, 165mm Troy Lee Carbon cranks.

      It also took me a while to get things right on my sb150. I added volume spacers and lowered the psi, opened up the high speed dampening a bit and put in a larger chainring to reduce antisquat a bit. Now it's incredibly composed and jumps with pop.

    I ride super chunky fast in my area and have been on the SB150 and the Spesh Enduro. I feel like something might be wrong with your Yeti? To me the Enduro is great but I'm still faster on the SB150 and the rear suspension feels just marginally better overall. I dunno... I just didn't think the Enduro is like hugely better than the 150 which is the impression I got from your vid... Perhaps it's the trails we ride. Anyway, looked like you had a blast! That's all that matters!

    • @ov3rcl0cked
      @ov3rcl0cked 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, I also ride fast on super chunky trails and ride an SB150. My impression I got while demoing is some bikes like the Ibis Ripmo many have better small bump compliance, so in fast small chatter I felt like other bikes felt better(never rode the specialized enduro), but the SB150 took bigger hits better than any bike I've ridden. The SB150 in contrast to other bikes I tried just smashed through technical chunder with ease. I haven't had an issue with small bumps and traction and I run a less aggressive faster front tire than stock(DHF instead of Assegai) so I'm not having an issue in wash boarded berms. Also the SB150 climbs better than most bikes I demoed and better than the older trail bike I had before. I actually live 45min from Yeti's HQ, so I'm often riding their local trails. I feel like the SB150 is made to go fast through tech because it was made to race enduro circuits, and not so much the smoother trails seen in this video.

    • @A80sM
      @A80sM 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have both bikes, the enduro is much more capable on steeper and rougher stuff and and way more comfortable on the hands. The sb150 is faster on corners and more efficient when pumping through sections and gaining speed. If I was to race or climb or both for the whole week, the sb150 will be my choice. If I want to ride and have fun and hit things I need a bike that can handle anything and give more confidence, I would pick the Specialised Enduro

    • @A80sM
      @A80sM 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Fubar sweet as mate. Since I posted here (8months ago) I’ve upgraded the fork with the new Zeb charger 3 and also added the megneg on the shock. The enduro feels perfect now for sure and it is leaning towards super enduro DH category. Pedals also much better with the new dampers. There isn’t anything this bike can’t handle now, it is a really fun bike to ride and extremely stable. No regrets.

    Hey man awesome edit, I’m really thinking of getting this bike I’m coming off the pivot firebird 27.5 which has been an awesome fun play full bike. When riding this bike did feel playful and flick able. Or did it feel like your typical 29er. I’m having a hard time getting on the 29er wagon but I may just be willing to do it for this bike.

    • @mtbnorcal8
      @mtbnorcal8  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Passey12 I also had a Firebird 27.5 and I loved that bike! So fun! I actually made the comment to my buddy while riding the Enduro that it felt so much like the Firebird. I have a Yeti SB150 which I think is very playful but the Enduro blows it away! It honestly didn’t feel like I was riding a big 29er. It was so fun, poppy, and flickable! I was also having trouble joining the 29er wagon as I’m a shorter rider. I’ll say once you do it and have the right bike you will love it! You should definitely demo it!!

    • @passey1269

      Good to hear man. The bummer part is I’m going to have to get the bike blind cuz no one is demoing that’s bike in my area.
      I’m a shorter rider as well I’m 5’ 10” not sure how tall you are but I have the firebird in a medium so I’m thinking of getting the enduro in the S3 sizing. How tall are you and what size did you demo?
      And one last question would you have switch the fox dpx2 that came with that demo for the float x2?

      @mtbnorcal8  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Passey12 I’m 5’9”. The S3 would definitely be what you want. The expert build I rode was awesome! I don’t think you need to change a thing as it sits. Only if you have the extra $$ burning a hole!

      For sure. The problem is I don't want to buy 2 bikes. Thinking of either going Enduro and taking the performance hit on these trails or getting the Ripmo/Hightower/SJ Evo and having to back off a bit on the big trails in Tahoe. Tough choice.

    • @ov3rcl0cked
      @ov3rcl0cked 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@NONO-hz4vo A trail bike is going to do everything these days. I'd really only buy an enduro if you're a really aggressive rider who smashes through tech, you're racing enduro, or you're mainly riding trails with big hits like frequenting the bike park or are lucky enough to live near some really gnarly trails. That said you can totally take a 130-140mm travel bike to any bike parks, and these bikes tend to suite a riding style that's more playful where you like to jib off roots and rocks. I have an SB150 because I'm more of an aggressive rider who rides a lot of tech very fast, but it's definitely a more sluggish bike in flow trails. Pumping rollers is dampened, it's harder to jib or snake the bike around, obviously short sprints aren't as fast, and generally tight twisty stuff isn't as easy with that longer wheelbase on enduro bikes.
      So if you truly want a "quiver killer" I'd probably look at the Ripmo or SB130. Totally worth it to demo both types of bike though.
