Thanks for your calm and measured vid Alasdair which never fails to help overcome that depressing feel of losing not only the game, but the opportunity of having a good shot at the top 4. Though I hate to say it, while technically I suppose we still could, realistically, top 4 is clearly in Arsenal's hands even more now. At the start of the season I wasn't expecting a top 4 finish for us, then we did so well when Conte arrived it looked like we could, so as always, it's the hope that kills you...

Thanks, Ali. Great insights. We have improved but we’re still a ways away. More work is needed, especially our wingbacks. Numerous crossing drills from all areas on the pitch. Conte has made it clear multiple times that he needs to be backed. Message received so doesn’t need to be said at every press conference imo. If Poch was to return and was backed with players he needs, it could work. I would prefer we keep Conte and back him with the more ready made players so we can try to win quickly. I’m starting to worry that Bentancour is a player we were so desperate to have who has quality but may not be as good as we believe. I hope I’m wrong but I remember how excited we were when Hojbjerg first played for us. Maybe I’m suspicious about how easily Juve was willing to sell at the end of the window when they were adamant we couldn’t have Dybala or McKennie. I hope I’m wrong and he is much better than what we have at present. Son’s my favorite player and I know he’ll come good. I’m curious if his dad is still working with him after matches because that could be a factor of his apparent tiredness? Thanks again, hopefully we can bounce back and go on a mini run. COYS! 🤞

Fascinating to see how people are way more positive outside of Twitter. It was definitely a very good performance…unfortunately we still lack this bit of quality, we still miss a step but we are on the right track. We need time and hopefully a good summer window even without the money of CL football. Just wonder what is gonna be Kane situation in the summer if we don’t grab that top 4 (let’s be realistic Arsenal are playing very well and probably deserve it more). Ronaldo made the difference, too bad Kane did not step up… I guess it s the difference between very good players and legend of the game. For Son…I really wonder to what extent Covid has affected him. As a Korean American it’s been fascinating watching the Korean community commenting on spurs things… I have a hunch that maybe them calling you Gold is a reference to the most popular last name in Korea, which is Kim! 18:56 Man, dont worry about what some korean Sonny fans might say. We want your opinion straight up, not on the rocks.
Its not like you are saying anything ridiculous.
A lot of Korean Son fans are mad at some English people (fans and journalists) that say that Son is “overrated“ and that “Spurs need to either sell him or bench him.”
Some Spurs fans even say that “Sonny is never there for us when we need him the most,” which is probably the most ridiculous statement about Son I have ever heard.
He is and always has been the guy, who saved our asses, when Kane was out or when were getting desperate for whatever reason.
He carried our team thru the Champions League all the way to the finals and he single-handedly carried our team thru the Nunu era.
But now hes “never there for us when we need him??” Seriously?
Whats YOUR opinion on this matter with Son? Forget what the Korean fans might say.
Please just say what you really think.

@@AlasdairGoldjournalist fuck. I blew another looong comment I wrote. Since you never got to see my previous comment on your question “what do you think?” Well, i wrote it and my phone froze up. So frustrating....
Well, i cant write it three times now.
So Im just gonna reduce it to the main points:
      1) Sonny *is* Mr Tottenham. And he got that name for a reason.
      2) Selling Son?
      A) As a Spurs fan, Hell no. Sonny is the best thing to happen to us, since...Harry Kane.
We cannot sell Mr Tottenham, ffs.
He could just walk into any team he wants and be a starter. He will soon settle in and with a big club team behind him, hed probably score A LOT more than in Tottenham.
      B) As a Son fan, yes, do so for your career’s sake. If Kane goes to City, just go with him and keep that Son & Kane Show goin. Continue your record and make it unbreakable.
So Idk. As a Spurs fan, I cant imagine the Spurs without Son...and Kane either. We really really need him. But at the same time, I feel bad for holding back this guy with so much class from thriving fully as he could with a better team. Hence, I understand Kane’s desire to leave. Sonny also wants the trophy. However, Sonny said he wants it WITH the Spurs. So idk what to say. I guess he rather pour his heart and soul into the Spurs team and go down as a Tottenham legend, than play alongside Lewandowski or Salah, score more goals and lift trophies more easily.
Ah shit. This became too long again. Lets just hope it doesnt freeze up this time around.

@@AlasdairGoldjournalist i read an article that Tottenham is interested in Fenerbahce’s Min-Jae Kim. Is that true? I always told other Spurs fans that we gotta get him asap.
I watched his recent game, and that dude is perfect for us. Apparently FC Porto, Juventus, Napoli, Newcastle, Chelsea, Tottenham and Arsenal are all lining up for him and they all sent their scouts to Turkey to watch him play.
Romero + Kim aka “the monster,” would give us a brickwall infront of the goal. And Kim apparently likes to carry the ball up very high himself, and hes fucking fast too. Hes big, fast and strong. Opponents literally bounce off of him.
Spurs did show interest last summer, when he was leaving the Chinese league, but he denied cause he wanted to play in Turkey first for a year to drive his price up. And his price did go up A LOT.
What do you think of this player?
Do you think we can get him?

Great Videos as always. It is so frustrating being a Spurs fan that we are always trying to build a winning mentality which will NEVER happen. Son needs a rest or he will continue to be up and down and will eventually get injured. Bring in Bergwign for the Brighton game which will give Son a rest. Take Son out of the team we are around 14th or 15 place, that is how important he is. It is great that Kulusevski is showing signs of helping Kane and Son. It was a MASSIVE MISTAKE taking Kulusevski off against Man Utd, Spurs have got to be the only team that takes their best player off which is typically Spursy. Conte messed up his subs and does deserve some criticism and I don't care if he is a serial winner as I am interested in Tottenham only. We make far too many errors defensively with our back 3 and as for our wingbacks are not only dodgy defensively but also have a poor end product. Our progress over recent seasons are 3rd, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 6th, 7th and this season currently 8th which says it all about our downfall. Sadly, our team is lost in space and we just don't know how to get out. We will end up like Everton if things continue as they are. Too many players get niggles that turn in to long term injuries or an injury goes from two weeks out to six months really quickly. There are also far too many recurring injuries happening. Sorry but this is nonsense 2 players are not enough, the wing backs on either side aren't good enough and at least one centre back is needed. City and Liverpool are miles ahead, Chelsea are probably going to dip but not much next season it will take time for the impact of the sanctions to take effect much of the playing staff at Chelsea will remain.
Arsenal are a young side and going to improve especially if they invest wisely with a striker and midfielder. Man u will have a new manager and invest as well, add in Newcastle, Leicester and Villa who will improve.

The fact that a number of our players didn't play too badly but we couldn't get a result shows exactly where spurs are at the moment. Too many players can only be relied on for a 6 or 7 out of 10 performance. We need serious investment (in the starting XI and the squad overall) but knowing Spurs we won't sign a RWB or another striker we'll get great players that we don't need at all

I don't have a big problem with Romero's attitude toward Maguire tbh. Not classy at all i agree but we need some of this "dirty" player attitude at Tottenham, as Mourinho said we're too much a group of good guys. This is not necessarily what he meant when he said to be "c***s" of course, but it's a part of it when you're this aggressive player sometimes you'll be it in less appropriate situations

Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us after another tough match to look back at. Are you possibly falling into the thoughts we do time and time with managers eventually blaming them more then the Board’s contributions or the player’s mentality on the pitch? I just don’t believe it can once again be on the manager at the end of the day for the losses we already predict will happen at teams like Boro and SouthHampton, Mura, Wolves…It’s giving a pass to too many other culpable parties again. Paraphrasing Conte- “The managers keep changing at Tottenham. The situation remains the same.”

Thanks for the video Alasdair. Its so predictable about the results now. To be fair to conte you can tell he has a structure and a style but just not the right personal to carry out the instructions and get the result. Levy just has to back him now or spurs will be stuck in mediocrity with a modern stadium.
Looks at yesterday, e.g. dier who has been decent this season was average but last year we all wanted him gone. These players just need to go and fresh faces are required just to give something new. Look at the starting 11 5-6 players were ones who were bench players 4-5 years ago or have been signed with no real thought and aren’t up to the level and don’t suit conte’s style.
Lets just pray levy backs Conte.

I think it’s interesting how our fans turn on all our player except Kane. If Son has a bad run of form “time to sell him”. If Hugo let’s in a few goals “he’s old and done, sell him”. If Lucas doesn’t recreate Amsterdam every game “let’s sell him to fund his replacement”. But when Kane was off for the first half of the season all I heard was “don’t worry, he’ll come around” or “give it time, he usually takes a little longer to score” or “he’s tired from the euros, he’ll be back to normal soon”. Sometimes I wonder what’s up with this bias?

    • @AlasdairGoldjournalist

Yeah I remember Kane got a lot of criticism when he was poor in the fist couple of months in the season but fans were even mad because he wanted to leave. After seeing Conte’s substitutions on the weekend I’m beginning to wonder if he realises that not getting into Europe wouldn’t be such a bad thing for the club. It would put more pressure on Levy to improve the squad. Plus not being in Europe would give Conte more time to prepare for games. Knowing our luck we’ll probably end up in the conference league again……

I have to be honest and say I couldn’t see the game on Saturday. But haven’t the recent matches where Harry Kane has been unplayable come against opposition who have taken the game to us and let us play to our counter-attacking strengths?
Makes you wish, retrospectively, that we’d stuck our necks out and also tried to bring in Christian Eriksen on a short-term loan deal, as we could really use his creative ability in these games when those tactics are nullified.

Man United had a good day because of Ronaldo. Some.players looked tired because we don't have much cover on the bench, mybbiggest fear is central midfield because Skipp is still injures. They can play good only when they have half pitch empty for attacks. They still can't defend set pieces or make significant number of good attacking actions against clubs which defend with a lot of players. Some of them have troubles standing with ball and suddenly fall when they should lead counter attack, some of them try to calm ball down with weaker leg instead of kick volley on 5m with stronger leg. If we think this was good game we have bigger problem than I thought.
