Thanks for having Evan on. This is a painful year as a lifelong Tigers fan.

Petzold's analsis on the Tigers' current situation is prettty accurate. For the team to become even interesting again, it's going to have to start with better player deendingvelopment. And right now, the development isn't really there. I follow their minor league system closely and I see only a handful of prospects worth shouting about: pitcher Jackson Jobe, catcher Dillon Dingler, infielder Kevin McGonil and outfielder Max Clark. Scott Harris inherited a mess, a farm system lacking depth after the graduation of great classes of the late 1970s to the Majors. The teams from 2006-14 were great fun ,but they spoiled the fan base into thinking building a contender was easy. Spending for a title can be dangerous if you consistently surrender draft picks as compensation and your free agent stars get hurt (like Victor Martinez). Detroit is not a big market town anymore and it has to start thiinking like a mid-market franchise.

AJ, you've shown more passion about the tigers in that 5 minute span of what the tigers were and what they need to do than our current POBO scott harris. As a tigers fan of 20 years, it's been beyond frustrating to watch this cesspool of shit year after year then them coming out and saying they've made progress this year which is an absolute joke. Please take the POBO job AJ cause you in just those 5 minutes have said and done more than harris.

Its become apparent, the winners in MLB spend money, get star players and not only develope players but set high expectations for their organizations. The Tigers and many other teams have to change their mindset and raise the bar. No winning until a winning attitude and a committment from management. Come on Tigers, get with the program.

A huge part of the Tigers' failed decade of rebuilding is that of prospects who turned into nothing. Flaherty makes sense to trade because of his one-year contract (& the huge payday he will command). But Skubal for prospects would be a HUGE mistake. Damn few prospects ever develop into a pitcher this good. Build around him; but don't piss him away for a minor leaguer who turns in squat.

You have to build a base. What was the purpose of not signing Lorenzen? We got a AA 2nd baseman. Lorenzen is pitching great and we signed Maeda who everybody knows is just not much of a pitcher at best. Lorenzen signed a 1 year 4.5 million contract and we signed Maeda to a 2 year 24 million contract. Good deal huh! How about Spencer Turnbull, couldn’t pitch for the Tigers but he can for the Phillies. These are the things that are holding the Tigers back. Stick with Flaherty and Skubal.

Chris Ilitch is a cheap owner. That's what it's 85% about. The wallet is fat - and that's where it's at for Ilitch Holdings Inc
