a wonderful performance with calm music, conveying entirely the beauty and atmosphere of the North without scenery. this is real art! If it turns out to ever be in Norway, then I will definitely visit the theater with such a performance. 🇷🇺👋🇸🇯
That was astonishing. He stepped into this flow of the music and it carried him. It's like what happens when the leaves of a tree dance in the wind. Astounding and beautiful.

det har även dansats halling här i västra värmland, skulle också tippa på att andra gränstrakter med starka norska influenser också har historia med det.

Hahaha.... Well, now you know...!!! More common is it to use a unique Norwegian vertion of a fiddle - called hardingfele. Fiddle = fele. It comes from a district called Hardanger. The fiddel has a double set of strings that gives it a distinct and unique sound. On YT you can search with: Annbjorg Lien, Fanitullen. By combinding these traditional ways of playing fiddle with halling ( from Hallingdal) dance Alexander Rybak made "Fairytale" - representing Norway in Eurovision Song Contest ( 2009 ) - and won You find the video on YT. Nobody knows for sure. In this video of exploration with archaeologists (th-cam.com/video/x1zgLCQKB5I/w-d-xo.htmlsi=wPpBSrU46P1ajREB) you can see a rock carving of the iconic squat dance in Scandinavia 3000 years ago. So it was not imported from East during viking age. But loads of Norwegians and Swedes worked at and visited the royal court of Jaroslav in Kiev in the early 1000's. For sure a lot of cultural exchange happened. But maybe both cossacks and Scandinavians have been squatting to rhythm indipendently for thousands of years?
@@frikar I like your educated answer to my question. Both aforementioned theories are plausible. However if you take in fact the presence in of Viking traders and warriors in Kiev Rus state the theory of cultural exchange is more probable for me. And the Cossack dance is most likely of Ukrainian origin rather than Russian. Sort of. It is not believable to me that the Vikings/Varangians did not have great cultural impact on the Russian culture, which includes traditional dances.
@@boki8197 thank you! Most people think periferies are allways more culturally influenced by the more central regions then vice versa. Archaeologically speaking Scandinavia have really many traces of dancing from 5000 BC until the viking age. There’s a new book now «12000 years of Norwegian history» by Ellingvåg and Wee revealing new cronolgies of who moved where and when in Europe, and how did it influence cultures. Worth reading 👍🏼
Zack R The krukedance move from the thumbnail was according to the written sagas done by king Olav Trygvason and men during the of king Håkon Håkonson named themselves Krøgedans as familyname, meaning they serie good dancers of krukedans. But most of the dance was developed from the 1600s to the 1800s.
Maybe not, but in many cultures Men, usually warriors performed acrobatic or energetic dances as a way to show strength, prowess and stamina. There are writings about the "Varangians" (Vikings) who were imperial bodyguards in Byzantium performing an energetic dance during their religious ceremonies
It is described in the Norse sagas from the Viking age. The oldest attestation of this type of dancing is from Scandinavian petroglyphs from the Nordic bronze age, roughly 1750 - 50 BC. This predates the vikings with one or two millennia.
Thanks for comment Nazim! This is traditional halling dancing from Norway. Several moves are similar to breaking, but they were done in Norwegian traditional dance before the existence of breaking.
@@runearneson8660 Well I am a lady (of course not one he wants to impress, that is obvious), and I am defenitvely impressed, I can tell you! So it works!
I imagine this is how you defeat a troll in the forest. Distract him with a dance before kicking him right in the chin.
This is perfect!
Haha that's great 😂
yeah you gotta charge up the aerial tornado kick with 30 spin around the circles
It’s when I actually see Halling and that old Norwegian culture that I feel truly proud to be Norwegian
It brings tears to my eyes and my heart roar out
Jeg bryr meg ikke om du er stolt av å være født i Norge eller i et annet land, til syvende og sist er det bare en nasjonalitet. 👍🏻
@@Pandora10103 Jævla sviker.
I always think its so edgy, because we normally don't like showoffs, and Halling rejoices in showing off.
@Pandora10103 I'd love to know more of my nationality of my Norwegian background. My family. From an American part Norwegian with love brother
