- ** RIP Andy Fletcher: you will be missed **.
(Don't miss the live "World Violation Tour" cover here: • DX5 playing DM "Enjoy ... )
Enjoy the Silence cover
Bassline was sequenced on my own way, it differs from the original version.
Only Martin's guitar was sampled from the original. Other sounds were sampled/synthesized by me, or belong to my own libraries. (The choir is a sampled Emulator II sound layered with a Kurzweil PC1x pad).
For those asking about the "metallic" intro sound (layered with the choir), it is an unique sample made by me (despite some people who have ripped the audio and included it on sample packs, claiming is theirs ;- ) . It is the result of combinating two different samples with an Emax function called "Transform Multiplication". The result is always unexpectable, as they are mathematically merged to get a completely new sample.
Played on two Emu Emax (I and EMAX II HD model).
Backtrack previously recorded by me in Pro Tools, also using:
Roland JX-8P, Roland JP8000.
Composed by Martin L. Gore.
Performed here by DX5 Jose Maria Bara. - เพลง
thumbs up if you started singing the lyrics too xP
Noelia Killjoy lmao I started singing
how CAN you not sing this song!
Yep. Love your username xD. We have interesting tastes in music.
Of course!
Yeah.. me too
this dude’s recreation of that sweet intro that they only have in the video for some reason is like insanely accurate
This is magnificent 👏
Yeah i like that intro tune..but it only exist in certain music video of enjoy the silence..nice intro tho
Yes accurate recreation of the intro that I’ve only heard in the music video. Awesome cover!
Bravo I love it ! Found you on Twitter and just subscribed . Big Depeche fan ❤
If be honest, this cover totally showed me another side of music. It showed me that synths are much better than guitars. And after 10 years I just want to thank you for this video. You completely inspired my musical path for the rest of my life. Thank you so much. Always in my heart!
That very same sentence about synths was said by Martin on early 80s. (Moreover, he said that synths have a broader sound palette than guitars). Martin... is it you? :-)
@@DX5 hahaa, not him, but definitely his like-minded ;)
No guitars are better...Maybe it is just YOUR oppinion...
@@DX5 I remember Alan saying it as well.
A guitar si a guitar and a synth si a synth
went to a store in dublin in the late 80's to see the latest keyboards on sale, couple of guys from Depeche Mode where there and doing demos on the machines, i almost lost my mind when they played this on a single keyboard, i don't think i ever saw keyboards sell as fast, an amazing free gig and demo on the machines, did i buy one? hell yes !
Holy shit! That’s awesome!
What keyboard did you buy?
Lol
Very late eighties,released 1990
Why the hell didnt u record it tho
That's not a cover, that's a dedication. nailed it man.
This guy's programming, and keyboard skills are seriously impressive. Haters, shut up, you have no clue.
Agreed. We need more of this.
I love the "Ahh" choir. Great cover.
ahhh - AHH - ahhh - AHH - aaaahhhhh!!
Me too! It almost makes me uncomfortable 😬 in a good way, though. This song always gives me this odd uncomfortable feeling but it’s so wonderful that I keep playing on repeat. One of my absolute favorites!
I cried with that synth choir....remembered my youth, high school days...
Reminds me of the titanic soundtrack.
@@nurrich me too lol its like a time machine!!!!!!!! Love it. My wife was like why is my 6 feet 2 inch 250 lb husband dancing in his head phones lol Its my jam!!!!!!!
I never understood why DM didn't include the full intro of the song used in the music videos on the studio album version. It adds so much substance to the song!
You know what makes this even more awesome? That 3.5" floppy disk sitting there, casually. That. THAT is what makes this awesome. #oldschool
+Daniel Brown Thanks. Although I am switching to a more reliable storage systems. Floppies are a pain sometimes :)
DX5 Yeah, they were a pain 25+ years ago too. Well, not a pain so much as "limiting". LOL! Keep making us jealous of the talent AND the gear!
Especially when the EMU2 drive makes that 'tick-tick' sound when downloading.
Even a 2003 Roland RS70(iirc on exact model) uses floppys for midi voices. it lets you play the voices right from the disk!
It _seems_ so casual, like, "oh, a floppy disk HAPPENS to be on this amazing piece of hardware." Yeah, no. I don't buy it. He's showing off. And I would do EXACTLY the same. LOL!
When I watch your DM covers, it's shows me how simple music was in the 80s.
And by simple, I'm not degrading it.
Simple sounds and a great voice, made DM one of the best bands ever.
Thank you for sharing this with us
Pure classic sounds of the 80s ,this is superb !!
man I'm not even 1 minute in and this is great.
same.
Same too,bro!
Very cool and nicely done. Ahh, the sounds of the 80's. Just can't get enough...
I see what you did there 😏
Amazing. This is a really nice tribute to Alan Wilder’s production. He’s such a unique arranger, and one of my very few heroes. This recreation is just beautiful.
Thanks, though I managed some things on a slight different way, as on the bassline :)
@@DX5 Yes I did notice that, it's great!
Fantastic cover version, love the 'wobble base'... One and only best hit from our Essex boys from back in the day...
Words like violence..
break the silence....
Come crashing in..
Into my little world...
Painful to me..
Pierce right through me....
this is so awesome on all levels, you clearly put hard work into this. Sounding like this doesn't just happen.
Totally impressed. At first I was thinking a little about vocals, but then I enjoyed really listening to the polyphonic instrumental tracks with all the tiny little details coming across clear.
It's a pure joy to listen to.
What I find amazing is that the Emax 1 and 11 still sound so great 30 years later ! Slave to the emax. The most inspiring collection on youtube.
Great version. The floppy disc brings back memories!
My dad played this song one day while I was sitting on the couch, and it really just hits me everytime with the most remarkable feeling. There’s just something about this song, the vibe it gives off, truly incredible.
You have a great dad m8
@@Bezimienny-ey3rb Yeah he's pretty amazing.
My dad used to blast this song in the car and house all the time. Hearing it first as a toddler up until now, currently 27, it's truly remarkable how much I still love the song. I definitely resonate with you.
Fantastic . Let it be a reminder of the fact that there will never be music like what came out of the 80's.. ever again .
thank god! hahaha
I'd go back in a heartbeat if I could.
DX5 was the first to do such remakes in youtube many years ago.
People should know that.
These days there are many remakes where people obtained the original DM samples and they have an easy time sounding like DM.
He made it all by himself, so it's even more remarkable.
Very kind of you. It is true I try to recreate them as they were made (Though tbh I got some original ones too, but just a few used :)
@@DX5 Agreed. I think it became commonplace when Alan Wilder sold his DM Emax disks and thousands of people have a copy of these Emax disks with the samples and patches for Black Celebration, Enjoy the silence etc.
Excellent, congratulations genius. That sounds AWESOME !!!
80s forever! congratulations for the lovely performance bud!
Just can’t stop watching this video. Truly a legend.
I heard thousands of covers of ETS but yours is definitely something else. Amazing job!
This cover is incredible...
Michał Łabędzki Agreed
Wow, this gave me chills... you captured the essence of this timeless track. Thank you.
My old cover band used to play this at gigs in the 90s (Roland S-330, W-30, few others) but watching your playing I now realize how complex the chords actually are and how much we simplified (butchered) our cover .... cheers for rendering the full harmonic glory of the instrumentation
Excellent instrumental cover !
Amazing sounds, love it ********************* :-)
An absoloute joy to see and listen too, such talent.Well done Sir.
I got goosebumps so easily with this video... Holy shit. PERFECT.
Perfect work....many congrats. Master, follow your unlimited talent!
Awesome! Get my compliments ten years later.
This is the kind of song that we don't want to stop playing. It become an infinite loop
This going to be nine years old this year and this is "the updated version" and I'm still amazed
Fantastic and with just afew chords strung together with a techno beat backing track. So simple but so brilliant.
This person is Amazing. Years ago i sent a message about the Tyros keyboards and he responded within an hour. It was a very dark time for me. I could see no way out and was close to doing something stupit. I have since bought a Tyros keyboard have not got aroind to playing it yet but this guy is an unsung hero he saved my life. Thank you so much
Thank you (two hours reply time now :) )
And when time comes dark, just go to the keyboard, press Rec and play and record something. You will change your mind after an hour playing some of your favorite riffs.
Goosebumps...
Instantly got goosebumps all over! Such beautiful piece of art. ❤️
Dude !!!, you are the only musician that can do this sort of thing to this standard , honestly well done , I’ve been around this kind of equipment for almost 40 years 🌴
Depeche mode are my favourite band of all time and your cover is just wow
I'm in love with this video🥰
so fantastic to listen to the feel of the track... it's like you are there for the soundcheck
Fantastic instrumental version of the best DM song!
So good that I added the vocals, to make my own complete version of the song... And it fits perfectly.
Still produces chills and goosebumps.
Thanks Mr. Wilder for that.
I love Depeche Mode, and your rendition was REMARKABLE!!!!!! I LOVED IT
This is terrific. I'm learning to play keyboards. Early days but I've been tinkering around with Enjoy The Silence. Hopefull one day might be able to play it like this....
Just realised the 10th anniversary of this upload was yesterday. One of the best vids on TH-cam!

Still singing along to this now, mate. Just excellent work - I hope you understand how much this helps people when they're down. *hugs*
Thank you, Jyoti. It was all done on the fly long time ago, and the wobbling bassline was just a test. Wishing everything is fine with you.
PS: Missing those great live streamings.
PS2: Coincidently, Today I've just caught up with those old songs you've uploaded.
@@DX5 I did a tribute to Vince on his UMI-2B sequencer last night, check out the last three minutes of my latest vid :-)
@@DX5 Seriously, though, this version still bangs. The timing is perfect.
PERFECT!!!Very nice Sound!
Superb rendition of one of my fave trax
This actually has more depth than the original. Just listened to it for comparison - excellent job.

This is what you call perfection!!!!
Lyrics
Words like violence
Break the silence
Come crashing in
Into my little world
Painful to me
Pierce right through me
Can't you understand?
Oh my little girl
All I ever wanted
All I ever needed
Is here in my arms
Words are very unnecessary
They can only do harm
Vows are spoken
To be broken
Feelings are intense
Words are trivial
Pleasures remain
So does the pain
Words are meaningless
And forgettable
All I ever wanted
All I ever needed
Is here in my arms
Words are very unnecessary
They can only do harm
All I ever wanted
All I ever needed
Is here in my arms
Words are very unnecessary
They can only do harm
All I ever wanted
All I ever needed
Is here in my arms
Words are very unnecessary
They can only do harm
Enjoy the silence
Volcan ueirt gracias
