This amp is so much more than what you just heard. I'm a bit surprised they didn't at least doing a few seconds with a strat. With a LP it get's SUPER tight, and punchy. Then with a strat, with that tight switch off you get incredibly warm bluesy tones. And, it cleans up incredibly well. I don't touch the gain, or eq knobs when changing genres. All I do is just flip the toggles. The way Dave has it setup, those toggle switches are incredibly dramatic. Which is a LOT easier than having to constantly readjust your eq knobs, given it's a one channel amp. *Something else I learn about this amp is that with Legendary Tones Hot Mod Evo 2, it launches this amp into the stratosphere, when it comes to those 80's hard-rock tones. This amp can get a bit muddy with the gain dimed out (IMO). The Hot Mod tighten the gain up, and make is incredibly punchy, and percussive.* I originally went into the store to get the PT 20 v2, and when playing them side-by-side, I couldn't believe how much warmer, and more musical, and versatile the LS was (to my ears). And, as stated, I get the eq set, and never touch it again...I just use the gain structure/tightness toggles. I'm sure I'll add the JEL 20 to my collection at some point....but, this amp is an incredible, versatile, little amp, that covers every guitar hero genre us old guys grew up listening to in the 70's and 80's. And, don't forget the Hot Mod! Thanks for posting this N Stuff!
I could have shot videos with these fellas all day, but they had other commitments in the store to tend to while they were in town. Super awesome to have the man himself demoing his own gear!!
@@didamnesia3575 I wish I could give you an answer on that, but it’s SO subjective. High gain to me is EVH, and 80’s Hard Rock. If that’s solely what you’re after then it’s probably the JEL 20 (with the EVO HOT Mod V2 or George Lynch mod). The goals I had with the LS were (at my level of playing and interest) were EVH/Classic 80’s Hard Rock, and Texas R&B (i.e Chris Duarte, SRV, ZZtop etc, etc..). At the time, the LS got me very, very close. Friedman did a spectacular job nailing that warm fat JTM tone. But, the mods he did on the LS allowed you to get REALLY good classic hard rock tones out of it now, as well.. Especially, with the Hotmod EVO v2 I’m using. That little mod is an absolute masterpiece, and has replaced all of my OD pedals. HOWEVER….with all that said, if I could do it all over again, I’d probably go with the JEL 20. If you can get those two amps in the room together, it would be a great comparison. The clean on the JEL isn’t quite as warm, and “thick’ as the LS, but it’s still VERY good, and very true to a plexi-esq. And, it’s an absolute BEAST with the 80’s hard rock stuff (as one would imagine). I can’t remember where I heard it but someone did a demo with the EvoHotMod George Lynch version on the JEL, and it was “Brown sound” for DAYS, man. I was eating my own liver listening to it. Like I said the LS response really well to the lower gain standard HotMod Evo V2. I get a killer hot-rodded, crips plexi tone. Whichever amp you go with I would definitely reach out to legendary tones (Dave is his name) and pickup one of those two mods. I like the George Lynch version because i think it has a gain knob on it, rather than just a toggle switch on mine, which is handy. And, I had to have my modified to fit the LS chassis, so you’ll want to ask Dave to do that, as well. I only bring it up because it makes such a huge difference with these marshal style circuits. I flat out won’t use an amp, now with out that little masterpiece. I just use my Collider delay/reverb pedal, and periodically a compressor. Hope that gives some info to help your decision.👍
@phillamoore157 I appreciate that you took the time to write all of that, so thank you. I'll do my best to let you know which I decide. They're both great amps
I played the Little Sister combo at N Stuff. I’ve never played an amp that had such an “immediate response” that I’ve always heard people talk about. I swear, it seemed like I heard the notes before I picked it!
Fantastic demo glad you have sammy demoing them - now, PLEASEEE do the *Friedman Vintage Plex* Next for all of us - Sammy and or doug rappaport are the players to demo that amp without a doubt 😅🤟⚡️🙏 Cheers from niagara canada
I wish demos on amps were done without additional effects added so I can hear just what the amp is doing, at least to begin with. That echo or reverb was annoying. If you want to show how good it is with pedals and effects do it after presenting the amp alone.
Yes...100% correct. Hearing this with effects makes me not want to buy the Amp...which by the way I did and it's a great Amp. Don't judge by this demo.

@@NStuffMusic I could imagine...that must've been a blast just hanging out. This was fun to watch.
I was thinking about the jel 20 or this one. I can't decide. I have a few fender amps, and a vox, looking for a high gain rock and hard rock amp

Dave Friedman, is an absolute genius. I can't imagine the guitar community without him. Thank you for having him on.

We have a video ready to go on the Plex.
@NStuffMusic thank you! let's see her come to life when you're ready, we can't wait !! 🤟🤟⚡️⚡️🙏🙏
Would have been nice to hear it without that delay.

I couldn’t agree more! For me, it totally invalidates the demo.

No Plex demo?
Can't release that one yet.
As others have said, never demo an amp with delay and reverb. Especially how you set them. Sounds like butt cheese, and that amp sounds great
I tried the ox attenuator, that thing sucks
A delay pedal. Really??? 😫
