People who say he's sucking need to step outside. He's dodging, reading movesets and moving incredibly well for a first time player. He quickly picked up on Gabriel's attack patterns to a tee, something most players don't do for a long time. One reason that's working so well for him is BECAUSE he's not switching weapons much. He's focusing on dodging and figuring out the core gameplay, which is a great thing to do first. He can, and most likely will if he keeps playing and does P ranks, deal with the offense part later. He's doing great
agreed, on my first playthrough i had to force myself to stick to only piercer/feedbacker when fighting both gabriel and (P-1 boss) just so i could spend more time studying their moves and less time shotgun swapping
being able to heal fast or destroy enemies quickly through the various weapons is good and all but ultrakill is at its core a movement shooter and you can only get so far without learning how to properly time and manage your dashes and jumps
Facts. I've watched a lot of first-time players and he's definitely a faster learner than average. It's completely unreasonable to think people would or should need to be playing with advanced tech/quickswapping on their first playthrough, especially if they don't have much experience with similar games.
Honestly my thought after watching him okay is that he plays so good that if he suddenly decides to p-rank everything he will do that faster that most of the players
i've been playing Quake and UT for 17 years or so, and basically, ultrakill was a breeze for me, which means that i might have to step outside and touch grass as you mentioned earlier
but it still never once crossed my mind to talk smack/judge/gatekeep someone who only started playing movement shooters; it's just unnecessary, we were all beginners once. I'm glad his first movement shooter was ULTRAKILL, and not something PVP.
Just like you said, he's actually doing just fine. and even if he wasn't doing fine, it still wouldn't matter because he enjoys it. Enjoying a game is what matters the most. That's what games are supposed to do; bring you joy.
Absolutely second this. Tbh, him fighting Gabriel looked more like he was playing a From Software game than anything else, which shows how he’s simply experimenting and playing the game in a way that makes sense to him. Cheers to the great comment!

In this stream he was actually willing to switch weapons, he just had a preference for the revolver. In the next ultrakill stream he's fully commited to the revolver only run, purely to spite sackbeaters. Pretty funny, though I do hope he experiments with other weapons eventually, maybe on a replay. The weapon variety and interactions are some of the best parts of ultrakill.
It's *the* best part similar to Nioh. The combat is so good it's almost only about the combat in these games.

In one of his videos he said something along the lines of "ULTRAKILL doesn't push players' to expirement and use other weapons and movement since default pistol is OP". In one of his streams where he actually played it chat pushed him to use the shotgun, he used it on long range (no Pro-Boosting) and died, then he said something like "See? I told you pistol is OP and every other weapon is useless". I was also told he never made it past prelude, but he eventually did it .

Its a challenge for the game that players made up. The goal is the only use the piercer revolver (blue one), be it the normal or alternative variant. The Inspiration came from the playtrough of a youtuber named UnderTheMayo. He made some videos about Ultrakill while saying things that were very controversial and brought up a civil war basically in the ULTRAKILL community. other youtubers started making videos about his opinions while everything just escalated and went downhill. basically, he refused to play with any weapon besides the piercer to make a point that the game is "easy" and you can beat it with this "brainless method" because there is no ammo system in ULTRAKILL. Mayo% is just a challenge other people made up to make the game a bit more spicy for some and also to take the p*ss out of it. p.s. sry for the text wall but i felt like there needed to be some context to understand it.

I've been playing the game for so long and I was about to comment arguing the toxic fanbase thing, but yeah the people that play this game are either great or massive dickwads.
I've been waiting SO LONG for him to play this. I felt like I was in limbo every time he uploads and the ultrakill goal is at the exact same spot every time.
Albino is like, a really good player. I mean, compared to someone who played this game religiously, put many hours into it, and uses the wackiest weapon combos imaginable, he looks really bad. But compared to someone who just started the game, he already tries to use every tool in his arsenal and that really well too, which most don't utilize. Literal Gamer God.

@@SenyiKimmo bingus and chat are also massively sensitive to any backseating (which imo it's completely fine if he hates receiving any kind of information, but it gets annoying when saying literally anything about the game itself is basically forbidden because it might just result in getting timed out or banned if he reads it)

Gabriels downslash attack always feels pretty weird when it's not on violent, just 2x slower idk why it's slowed down that much.
I wondered why on my first playthrough it always hit me despite feeling like I dodged at the right time, thanks for the insight I should play again on violent
Two things the game never explicitly tells you: certain enemies have damage resistances and vulnerabilities, so it’s worth mixing up your guns to make your life easier.
Also, your style DIRECTLY contributes to your survivability. The more weapon swapping and movement you do, the better your healing is.

Switching weapons and doing combos isn't a forced mechanic (heavily incentivized yes, but not forced.) It is a major feature of the game but not the whole game itself. So to see Albino enjoying the game even if he is mostly ignoring the core feature of the game just shows how fun of a game Ultrakill is. Let him mayo% as long as he's having fun.

I agree. I think if I just stuck to the pistol most of the time the game would get stale really quick and I would drop it, but I mean that’s my own preference. In the end it’s just how the game is fun for you
It is objectively more fun to play the game when you use more weapons. Albino likes learning game mechanics and hates getting anything spoiled, and like I'm pretty sure every single weapon has a combo with at least one other weapon, he is skipping an enormous chunk of content he could spend time discovering, which is like the sad part of this playthrough. I hope he replays it and actually tries out different things with all the ways to kill your enemies because he is quite literally skipping content, even if it's more skill based.

I've been playing Ultrakill for about a year and a half now, and I've born witness to some of the best and the worst the community has to offer, so I feel quite qualified to say that you're entirely justified in wanting nothing to do with the fanbase. Communities of a particular size beget a proportional quantity of shitheads and all that. Glad you've given the game a shot despite that, though! One of the very best games on Steam and it's not even finished yet, honestly wild
