Actually, much of the main developers of Sonic Mania are actually part of the Sonic Hacking Community, so it's safe to say they probably took inspiration from all the hacks made over the years for making Mania.
Probably not the video I should mention this, but: *1)* I struggle matching which stage theme to which musical genre. *2)* I love how they give the option to play as Tails Alone in Sonic 2 & 3
There's no doubt that even though the Genesis did not sound as good as the SNES, Sonic was pushing its sound capabilities. Call me old fashioned, but there's a charm in the original mix that this SNES mix (or any other one I've heard thus far) is unable to replicate.
This remake was released until in 2015 but the original one you saw in the Sonic 2 snes Trilogy was not a act 1 remix actually it was Act 2 if you listen to it that Legend of renegade did
PA: The oil refinery isn't finished yet which is why you see the bottom layer of the Dust Hill background and the tiles have a sand yellow palete meaning it's covered in sand and there is no oil. PR: Same thing you'd see in Sonic 2 BF: The oil refinery is on fire. Pollution fills the skies (like in Sonic Mania) The oil is on fire, but can't kill Sonic. The tileset has a crimson palette meaning the temperature is 100° Celceius GF: The oil refinery is a clean power plant with clean water and the tileset has a turquoise palette meaning it's clean. And there is no oil (Like in the past) but, it's replaced with water and Sonic can't drown in it.
Fawfuls TNT Egg TV when you commented on the Sonic 3 remix of oil ocean Act 2 that was sort of like the the same remix for Act 2 Super Nintendo remix of oil ocean yeah but I did wish that they made a Super Nintendo remix of oil ocean Act 2 from Sonic Mania
Fawfuls TNT Egg TV thank you for a like on my comment or reply whenever I haven't really got a reply from all these people will not all the people I want to talk about to talk to the only person I really wanted to talk to you or like yuzoboy and legend of renegade
It sounds like Egypt what was drums added to them from like rock or heavy metal and I like that instead of being Saudi Arabia like the original from the Genesis
You can't. This is a fan "remix" with SNES soundchip. The SNES version of SD2SNES has the MSU-1 "chip" that would let you swap out music, but the Genesis version does not. If it did, then you theoretically could.
Genesis: ARABIA
SNES: *EGYPT*
Genesis is arabia
Snes is trumpets
Fun Fact: The visuals in this are actually inspiration for encore mode of Oil Desert Zone.
*Oil Ocean
And no, the background colour can't be inspiration, because I believe this hack is very old.
But mostly this hack not being made by SEGA.
The stage pallette is GREEN

the only Oil Desert Zone ever officially made is from Sonic 4: Episode 2
the intro still sounds like its Egypt
Gamer Boy12810 it actually does
This is a song of aladin game 😂
Jean Gonçalves This sounds like a stage theme in aladin for the Snes.
ME TOO!!
Like an desert island of wasteland
I don't know but Oil Ocean Zone is my favourite soundtrack from all Sonic games
This sounds like it came from Aladin
Even the original sounds like that
At least I think it tried to sound like that

It may be Oil Ocean Zone, but if someone lights a match, it will become Burning Town.
DantheFoxman Gaming, like in Sonic Mania Oil Ocean Zone Act 2.
DantheFoxman Gaming Shantae crossover
R GG Mario isn't a Shantae/Sonic crossover
R GG If it has Mario, it isn't a SHANTAE and SONIC crossover
DantheFoxman Gaming did you literally make a Shantae Refrence.

Whoa, this is magical!
That bass is thicker than the oil itself.
“Everywhere I go, I see his face.”
You could say it's "fire"

Much better
"It is I, Adventure Sonic the Hedgehog on the Super Nintendo Enterntainment System, *AHW YEAH!*"
For some reason the music sounds more fit for something from ancient Egypt.
Start: The Egyptian civilization is rising, fondly producing more pyramids...
Middle: OH MY GOD THE ALIENS
What's funny is this:
In Sonic Mania's Encore Mode, it is daytime in Oil Ocean Zone. Yep. Broad daylight, with a blue sky.
It was day in sonic 2 as well, the atmosphere was just orange there because *yes*
@@robsterlobsterr i always interpreted it as sunset, because the sun is low in the sky.
@@SPTSuperSprinter156 it looks real high in the sky, I think the orange is actually caused by DUST now

By the way, I know it's worth trying.
The bass line (by far my favorite in the Sonic series) works really well in the verse, but stands no chance against the Mega Drive's in the chorus.
