I once heard glitter described as "the herpes of the craft world". You never really get rid of it. We used it to decorate candles in our first home and I'm still finding it in stuff after moving.

"raver scabies" was another term I always heard as well, since party goers tend to use it on themselves, and it spreads to everyone just as contagiously. You'd talk to em once but still be finding it in your clothes a month later. XD

@@wardenm We also called them "raver scabies" and we used it as a way to identify the people who probably hadn't been to a party before. The more you looked like a mall raver, the more we roasted you, and nothing makes a person look more like a mall raver than body glitter.

When I was a young kid, I had a really slight dusting of super light freckles on my nose. They vanished when I got to be 7-8 years old, and from then to adulthood, I always wanted them back because I, too, think they're a beautiful addition to a person's natural appearance. The past few weeks, I've been out in the sun quite a bit (ALWAYS slathered in sunscreen, of course) and they've come back with a major vengeance. My boyfriend first teased me about them when they popped up, like "Oooh, look at you, Freckles," but since he saw me get a little wary about how dark they were getting, now he, too, insists they're cute.
(Side note: I don't think it's all freckles, but a mix between freckles, sun spots/damage, and hyperpigmentation. Apparently I'm one of those people who easily get sun freckles. Whatever, I still like them on my nose and inner cheeks, just not the big one that popped up on my forehead between my eyes lol 😊)

In Elementary I would give myself freckles with my Mom's eyeliner, I thought it looked good, Mom didn't notice until I used her blue eyeliner one day (I couldn't find the brown). Tip: most regular peel-off facemasks can also be washed off. So if you accidentally put some of it on your eyebrows or other facial hair, you don't have to hurt yourself and rip out any hair. Just wash it off. Of course this might not work if you use a homemade peel-off mask. Also NEVER use any glue or other crap on your face or body!

I haven't imitated fashion trends from the media since I was way back in high school. Thank goodness for that. Back then, the coolest fashion trend at my school was when girls were braiding fake flowers and bright-colored feathers into their hair. My hairstyle was considered one of the best ones at school, and I looked like a tiny peacock crash-landed into my head! That trend died down after a year...

    • @surlywithfabshoes

I have no problem trying trends (usually in the privacy of my own home). But, make sure it isn’t permanent. Can you imagine having blue freckles when you are 80?? They’d be all askew from skin sagging! If you have ‘em, you have ‘em. If you don’t, you don’t. I’d like a size 2, straight, waif body but you have to be born with it.

Uh, dude? It won't actually blind you, if it did pepper spray wouldn't be a thing (and even then, it's not meant to be sprayed point blank because microneedling of the eye due to the force its propelled from the can will occur, and THAT is what's blinding). What it WILL be is horrifically uncomfortable and burn like mad for a while, leaving your eyes red and sore. It makes it hard to open your eyes because it burns, but you can still see. I've rubbed my eyes after handling ghost peppers (stupidest thing I could've done dear lord don't do this) and the burning goes away after about 15-20 minutes. If you flush your eyes, flush AWAY from the other eye - you don't want it to go across the nose and into the other eye. If you can't flush your eyes out, don't rub, don't touch them, and wait it out.

Charlotte makes a valid point about the freckles trend. As a redhead with freckles, I was teased relentlessly throughout elementary and middle school for having freckles - and braces - but now these things are cool and people like them. I was born in the wrong generation lol

    • @sabrinaspellman9598
      @sabrinaspellman9598 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

It seems to be the case with a lot of trends. I also got bullied for freckles too, and made fun of cuz I had freckles and i have dark hair, so in top of that they said i was trying to hide that i'm a redhead, somehow.
Anyways, we see this happening a lot, that's also an issue with culture appropriation beauty trends, which has a similar logic. I'm torn, I think it can be empowering to see something you have get trendy, but on the other hand... The exact same people who bullied you for something, are doing the exact same. I'm always conflicted with those really.

Leaving more invasive procedures to the professionals is good for two reasons. The first is that certified professional’s have more extensive training, and know exactly what they are doing. The second reason is that if something goes wrong, which can happen with any procedure, you can then have it corrected. Or sue them because they did the screwup and not you.

I have a beauty tip that is totally legit and safe: scrub with sugar a couple times a week. You don't need to buy a fancy scrub. Just use plain granulated sugar. It deep cleans the pores and exfoliates the surface. You can use it on your face, hands, elbows, knees, heels, etc. I'm 60 but am mistaken for 40 all the time. I've been sugar scrubbing for more than 30 years. I have next to no wrinkles. It makes my skin soft and it feels really good!
It's easiest to use it in the shower. With a wet face and hands, pour a small pile of sugar on your finger tips. Gently scrub your face, throat and neck. Rinse, and wash as you normally do. If you have acne problems, add a little honey to the sugar. Honey is a natural antibiotic/anti-fungal and can help clear up pimples.
Do wear a good sunblock (and I mean a block, not a sunscreen). Sunblocks are made from minerals and are a physical block to protect your skin. Sunscreen is made from chemicals that can be irritating (I'm allergic to chemical sunscreens anyway). I use mineral based makeup that gives me about SPF 17.

Like Charlotte said, if you want to enhance what you already have, more power to you and no judgement but please let's take into consideration our health🙁
Like a whole no. Sunscreen is there to prevent you from getting skin cancer. The extra from that is jot getting too burnt by the sun. So sunscreen contouring defeats the whole purpose of sunscreen. Yeah your face will look "naturally snatched". But at the risk of increasing your chances of getting cancer. No😥.
Also this whole trend of getting artificial features to mimic features that were once used to make other people feel bad about themselves is a whole new level of emotional damage. Like with the freckles tattoos. Imagine running into the person that made it their daily job to make you feel lesser than for having freckles, now suddenly with freckles and talking about how cute it is and how they wish they had them naturally.

Yeah, peppers like that can make the puffiness WORSE, not better, especially if it makes contact with the eye. Use cucumbers or witch hazel for something like that!!! That being said: peppers ARE useful for the skin! The capacin in them is the an active chemical that triggers the body's pain response, so if you cut it in half and rub it for 5-10 seconds on aching muscles, the body will flood that part with relief temporarily. Helps if you're out of nsaid paid relievers! Willow bark tea is the same, since it's the same active ingredient in the bark as in Tylenol. Depending on the bark and age of the tree, a cup of tea is about the same as 200-400mg, though likely want to sweeten it with honey since it's bitter.

I second you on the glitter thing. I went to a rave 8 years ago, was covered in glitter and am still finding glitter now, in the bedroom and bathroom despite cleaning none stop!
