Nicely done! I would recommend pre-drilling multiple holes with bolts into your plywood so you can re-set holds from the outside (without having to take the wall down) in the future! Otherwise spot on! Love projects like these (working on 4 similar walls like this for kids now as well)
hello, thanks for uploading this video. I have a question for you here.. when you are fixing that studd structure on studd (at wall). what size of screw you have used. I have a 4X2 studd to be fixed on unfinished wall in basement. Thank you !
Hey Ian, New subscriber here. Quick question, I see you used the #9 2-3/4" construction screws for attachment to the floor joist, but what kind of screws did you use to attach the plywood to the frame?
**other option- maybe mark the rocks and their spots with marker & tape (like when you take of cabinet doors/drawers and hinges)- this way you can quick match in case small "unhelpers" hijack your climbing pieces and mix them up
Great video! I created a monkey bar Project myself early last year when covid started and parks closed. I secured two 2x6s onto my basement ceiling and then attached monkey bars to the 2x6s. I still worry if it’s ok for kids to be hanging from these monkey bars. Will the weight pulling down on the joists cause damage to my family room floor?
I like your idea better as it distributed the weight more. I thought about that after the fact. They are both under 50lbs for now so I’m not too concerned.
Hi! Thanks for your video ive watched it a couple of times and im ready to go this weekend! I have a question if you dont mind. I plan on lining the board with a peel and stick wallpaper. Would i drill the holes first and then wallpaper or do it after wallpaper? Wondering bec you painted after the holes. Is there a reason for that? Thanks!
Good question. When drilling the wood can splinter. Painting after helped cover up some splintered wood, I suspect the same could be true for the wallpaper
In my case the bolts I used to secure the climbing holds stick out the back. I suppose if I had cut the end of the bolts off and made it flush I could have done that. Instead I did the frame.
the paint tray hack alone was worth watching.

This is awesome. Thanks for sharing. Hopefully, I can get done.
Awesome playroom! Your kids must love it!
Best dad ever
I like your video and Thank you for making it and sharing it.
We are about to start this project! Thanks for a video with easy instructions :)
Great video
Thanks Ian. Please share the link for the monkey climbing holds if you still have them.
It is important that this be preserved.
great work! can you share the link to the monkey bar holds?
Awesome build!
Hi, Ian. Sorry to bother you like this, but are you still active on TH-cam?
How has it held up? Where did you get your paint from?
Great. Thanks for sharing!
Glad you liked it!
Can we put the rock climbing molds directly into the concrete wall

Hey just curious how old the little climbers are and also the ceiling height
I believe he said his son is 6yrs old and his daughter is 3yrs old
Awesome! We just went to the store yesterday and bought the stuff from Amazon to build our own rock wall. Where did you get the monkey bars?
I got them on Amazon as well. Purife 13'' Playground Kids... www.amazon.com/dp/B08DDBP554?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Thank you for the inspiration!
can i skip the frame installation instead of directly install the climbing plywood on the the wall?

Way to close for monkey bars 😂
Monkey bar spacing should be from 15" to 20" for kids. His seems to be 16" apart and looks OK for me.
