Yes, every Saturday and Sunday afternoon on Sydney television in the 70s and 80s, we would generally have an Abbott & Costello, Francis the Talking Mule, a swashbuckler, which would feature either Tony Curtis or John Derek. Great times. Real entertainment!
His son drowned in the pool. Broke him down. The nanny was watching the 2 yr old. My favorite comic team of the 30s and 40s. Abbot was such an adorable man ..... He ravished me with laughter😅😅😅
This film and The Time of their Lives (1946) are two of my favourite A&C films. These films showed what a fine character actor Lou would have become if he had lived longer. There's an episode of the Wagon Train television show called The Tobias Jones Story where Lou played an alcoholic wastrel and was marvellous. Such a great talent.
These two comedians were unjustly compared to Laurel.and Hardy for many years...their brand of slapstick was totally different and broader based ...innocent and entertaining..
Character 1: I am about to watch this. You watch me watch this mister as i can assure you there will be no other watcher who can watch this like i can watch this. Character 2: Now wait a minute, do you mean to tell me that your about watch this entire movie? Character 1: That's right Mister. Ever since i was a little boy, my Mom would tell me "Son, there is no better watcher in the world than you!" Character 2: Well, why didn't you say so in the first place? If i would have know we had a fellow like you to watch this we would have hired you weeks ago......

Bud & Lou weren't speaking to each other at this time. The had some ongoing argument about something and just showed up to shoot the scenes and were gone. Too bad but hey, that's show business.
In the 1970s these used to come on every Saturday morning after the cartoons were over there was almost always Abbott and Costello 👌

That death haunted Lou till he passed in 1959. Lou was a kind hearted man who gave to charities that helped poor children despite race.
