  • On October 24, 2023, about four dozen members of the Laguna Woods Village Astronomy Club traveled by tour bus to the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) facility in La Cañada Flintridge, CA. JPL is a research and development lab federally funded by NASA and managed by Caltech. The facility has 140 buildings on 168 acres and employs 6,000 people. (You can glean a wealth of information about JPL at www.jpl.nasa.gov ). This video shows some of the photos, in addition to a few very short video clips of the trip. The thumbnail photo is from a rock was brought back from the moon by Apollo astronauts over 50 years ago. Thanks to Joe Camera and Stuart Fried for making this trip possible. Also, thanks to Chris Kemp for bringing the water and the snacks. I was not aware of her contribution until after the video was posted, otherwise I would have acknowledged her effort in the video. Many thanks to my friend, Linda Lin, who provided the cell phone for the group photo, since my GoPro photo of the group was unsatisfactory. Background music is by "Alturas," from their "La Conquista" album.

Robert, thanks for this excellent video capturing our shared experience on October 24, 2023. We live at an amazing time where we can capture and store memories outside of our brains to share with others all over the planet. So glad you and David are contributing members of the club as we collectively work together to learn more about the nature of our Universe.

Thank you for the very kind words, but in reality, you have been the impetus for reinvigorating the club and taking it to the next level - Ad Astra.
