Just checked and this is only Manhoef’s 5th decision in 45 pro fights. I think this dropped his ko percentage from a 93% to 90%. Crazy stuff. Buddy’s a unit.

@@irapowling8459 ahh yes, I got confused, he did actually retire from kickboxing back in 2018.
But apparently he signed a multi fight contract with balloter and is now focusing only on MMA.
I've actually trained with him a few times in 2017 :)
@@irapowling8459 He still looks sharp. And just a few years ago nearly broke Robbie lawlers legs who went on to become a ufc champion. He's got fast hands and strong kicks and a basic sense of grappling . he could pose a threat to any fighter of any level if catches them.

Always liked the 93kg div. For his measurements and persona, Melvin Manhoef is extremely powerful. I'm a fan. And he did K.O Mark Hunt in round 1 and with strikes. Good on him. And this was a good performance from both sides. Respect.
Manhoef actually fought Mark Hunt on 1 or 3 days notice (I remember the commentary on the fight but can't remember if it was 1 or 3 days notice) and it was a prime Mark Hunt as well that he KO'ed when Hunt's chin was at it's very best. Not even a full power Cro-Cop left headkick could even wobble Hunt let alone KO him in that era (even though it knocked him down, he just got back up like it was nothing), and considering Hunt was several inches shorter than CropCop, where Hunt's head was would mean that it was more of a high body kick for CroCop meaning that it would have even more power than his normal headkicks which he landed on opponents closer to his own height. Hunt also outweighed Manhoef by nearly 60lb and Hunt was actually taller than Manhoef as well which is just plain crazy, Lol!
I do think that was Hunt at his worst tho, that was on his big losing streak where he barely trained, played arcade games and took lots of meth. When he came to the UFC on the same losing streak it was a big deal because he’d lost tons of weight. And I know Hunt was always big but he was particularly out of shape and unmotivated for a few years; no matter how good a chin is, someone out of shape is less likely to recover from shots

Mostly because the "live" streaming messed me up w/ DAZN and the scheduling.
Dam at 44 that man can still fight and move good. In the first round he ate a big punch early on also and recovered very well

I think Manhoef got tired and just laid on the poor guy and took a rest. He wasn't do anything but just laying on the guy. Kauppinen started looking over at the ref like, this guy is just laying on me. LOL Do something. Otherwise, Manhoef, even at 43 is a better fighter.
Kauppinen has zero ground game. He just lays there waiting to be stood back up.
