I saw your AIS track. Tack angle was magic. Those speeds are amazing. You certainly made effective changes. But its not just Swallow. Its your sailing. Constantly paying attention and adjusting. Watching cos I love it!! Your cheeky joyful grin made me smile!
But I’ve always been sailing her so there must be some difference I’m sure. She just feels slippery now, doesn’t have a max anymore. Can be pushed a little harder and so on. You’re probably right about the grin though I’m sure it helps. 😁 Nice to hear from you mike
As a novice sailor who's still working on getting his old cabin boat out of the yard and seaworthy, I've picked up loads of good tips and tricks from your videos. And loads of good local knowledge, too, because these are my local sailing grounds 👍 Cheers, mate.
Lucky you getting out for a beautiful sail. Jealous but living vicariously through you enjoying your sailing. Wave dancer is in France for a facelift so we are land locked for the rest of the season
@@sailingcosiloveit getting jobs done we can’t get anyone to do in Ireland for a reasonable price. Yachts are like cars in France and they look after boats so much better. Arzal has a collection of workers eg sail makers, painters, fitters of tanks etc. We plan on sailing Atlantic Coast of France next season so need upgrades
@@sailingcosiloveit yeah. We were only home when that attack happened right in the area we had sailed through the previous week. Put the wind up us I’ll tell you. We’re hugging the coast next year 🤣
Hi , love your films :) You advised me how to conquer the swellies in a RIB when it was my first time . Thankyou advice was spot on and I’ve been to Caernarfon from Conwy and back many times , I love it :)
Happy the fishing net is working ok, just needs a line over the boom to elevate it off the surface a bit, excellent sailing and going at quite the pace now, you will have to adjust your passage predictions or you might turn up a day early.
Fishing net is work in progress 😆 Thanks for the advice. Will keep my passage plans of old and hopefully get a smile as I realise I’m going to beat it, hopefully 🤞
Prepare to be boarded... lol 😂 I'm going sailing. But I haven't got a baldy notion. Basically. I suppose I'm going to need a boat? With a big sheet thingy? And a steering wheel... Possibly.
Hi Mike hope all is well. A short season this year for me due to poor weather windows. I’ve been searching through your videos to find the one about the sails. You said you were pleased with price, quality and service plus you reduced your Genoa. I am thinking of doing the same as I seam to be constantly overpowered and sail better with it slightly reefed plus it’s a very heavy material making it difficult to get going in light winds. If it’s not too much trouble can you send me a link to the video and to the manufacturer. Many thanks. Take care. Roy
Hi Roy They are Far east sails. Good value for money but if your going to keep the craft for many years I may go to one of the better known uk sail makers as I can’t vouch for the longevity of this product. The smaller foresail was a winner though. Sorry mike
Can't wait to watch this later. Best weekend I've had on the water in long time. 5kts all the way down the east coast of ynys mon ! Had to try slow my little boat down the best I could
Must check your previous video when you changed your head sail I need to do the same as my Genoa is too big and heavy. The results of your new sail look fantastic or perhaps you can sail after all🤠🤠
Hi Mike, this is the Simon family from Michigan in the USA. I’m wondering if you’re going to be near enough to Liverpool which we are visiting in mid March 2025? Our family loves to sail and we would enjoy it to either meet you in a pub or meet you on a boat. Love your videos!
when you got it out the yard after winter ,first sail i knew it faster could see the difference comparing it with old videos and same weather conditions, so glad you got rid of that snow plough on the bow pushing water and upsetting the tide times all along the west coast of uk 😂😂
Good video Mike. Wish we had such an active sailing community in Aberystwyth as you have up there. One thing, what sort of autohelm are you using? I couldn't see a windvane on your self steering gear.

Go on MIke admit it, you've secretly installed an electric motor LOL. Brilliant sail and Swallow's performance must be very satisfying.
😳 poop me secrets out 🫢

I love your narration - it kept me watching till the end. I think I’ll subscribe and follow your adventures.
Thanks for having me aboard.
Welcome onboard Paul, why not check out some of my previous stuff?

Good to see you on the water again Mike

Hi Simon, there are possibilities but you will have to message me closer to the time and see what I’m up to. March 25 will be here very soon mike

I I’ve been responsible for all kinds of stuff going wrong all over the place. Hold my hands up it was me. I’m playing with the weather now 🤣
Glad your back Mike trust all is well - you’ve certainly got swallow set up well and stable now mate all good 👍 Malc uk 🇬🇧 😊
Hi Malc, things definitely looking better through the water 😁
All the best mike
Sat pm. Just passed your boat. All looks fine after last nights big blow.
Cheers mark very nice of you to check. Thanks very much mike 👍
I have just searched for Scanyacht 290 and found Swallow up for sale in Deganwy. What's the plan for the next boat?
I have no plan 🫢
She’s not listed anymore in Degawny…. Wondering if she’s sold…
Good video Mike. Wish we had such an active sailing community in Aberystwyth as you have up there. One thing, what sort of autohelm are you using? I couldn't see a windvane on your self steering gear.
Helm is clutch type 4000 always connected but clutched in and out it the raymarine helm control 👍
Missed you, hope all is well!
Thanks for the hope, mike
Heave to was also a possibility to make your tea and doing your thing.
Agreed and I do so quite a lot 👍
