In my country on Christmas Eve no meat is allowed (on 24th) and traditionally there should be 12 dishes on the table :) it’s always herring with various coatings, fish dishes, mushrooms and salads, mini special Christmas pastries with poppy seeds served with sweet so called poppy seed “milk”:)
When staying with my parents, Mom usually makes a roasted goose or duck with a good handmade gravy, salt potatoes, Brussel sprouts and Red cabbage. As starter she cooks a beef broth with thin, short pasta. As dessert there is an icecreambomb. For dinner there is bread, coldcuts, meatsalad, tomatoes, pickles. In the afternoon there are creamcakes. That ist 25th 24th we are staying with my husbands mother. There will just a cold dinner and and a visit to church. Sehr sings there in the choir. 24th is my husbands fathers birthday. My husbands makes a tour through Jena, playing trumpet with five other musicians for those who can't get out.. 26th is my rest day. My husbands runs one of his marathons . For eating we have some of the leftovers. This year will be different due to C and I am still in hospital. Buon natale!!!! Frohe gesegnete Weihnachten. ❤️ .
Everything on your menu!!!!!! We have to have antipasto our lasagna or it’s not Christmas & it has to be Nonnas & our porchetta etc!!!!!!!! Beutiful Christmas dishes so beautiful you want to show it of to friends and eat them immediately. :-) Excellent job chef and Merry Christmas to you and yours.
A truly worthy holiday menu! Unfortunately, I am already too old to be able to eat such quantities. But it looks great. I really liked the rice balls. I will definitely cook them. I ate "Porchetta" in my youth in Castel Gandolfo, near Rome. There are stalls that sell it and small tents in which Orvieto is served. An indescribable treat for the palate. In addition, a warm summer night and the chirping of the circads - beautiful memories. Merry Christmas Vincenzo!
Thank you for this great video and all inspiration you bring about tasty Italian recipes 🏅👍 I am already looking forward to upcoming episodes. Merry Christmas 🎄🧑🎄🌟😊
Dear Vincenzo. I am from Argentina. Here we're already in summer but be sure i'll make some dishes of this glorious menu for the family. Hugh to you from distance and Merry Christmas for you and your family
they're typical of Sicily and they're loved all around Italy (not only) 😋 here you can find the written recipe www.vincenzosplate.com/recipe-items/arancini-recipe/
This year we start with antipasti, then a nice burrata salad with cherry tomato's, rucola and basalmic oil followed by mushroom ravioli with sage buter and pine nuts. Main course is a beef roast with asparagus and for desert your strawberry tiramisu. We do not have a traditional dish but more every year a diner based on another country.
😍 This all looks amazing! I was already planning on doing a porchetta and the strawberry tiramisu, but now I am defenatly adding that lasagna, which I have been craving for so long! Christmas dinner is going to be so good, thanks to your amazing recipes Vincenzo! 💗🎄🎊
@@vincenzosplate I will try the antipasti, Aperol and the desserts. My oven is not reaching 300 degrees so I have to find an alternative for the main course.
I won't be able to cook it because as Santa's Helper I will be working. Someone has to deliver all the Christmas presents. The advantage is that I don't have to go on diet after the Christmas Days (Like you). I have seen presents for Suzanne and for Sebastian.. But for you... Ah, over there! Celebrating Christmas? No, I won't ß I am single and alone in the cold ... It is OK Thank you very much, Vincenzo, for sharing your a cooking documentary video with us. Merry Christmas and a happy New Year to Suzanne, to Sebastian, to your families in Australia and in Italy and of course to you, Vincenzo! Thank you!
Thanks Vincenzo! I’ve been watching your Italian dishes and desserts for months now! 🤩🤩🤩 the time you made Penne alla Vodka, my mother made this Italian dish and this tasted so good! Keep up the fantastic work, Vincenzo! And Happy Christmas in 6 days!!! 🤩🤩🤩🤩
Hi Vincenzo, i’m in italy now and enjoying the food here 😂 Didn’t expect you guys eats a lot!! haha I love the Porchetta and the pasta wildboar! Fragoline tortine is a bomb! Pistachio gelato in winter!!!

It's so fascinating, the porchetta is basically the same as Swedish "julskinka", but ours done with cured ham - the definite must-have on every Swedish Christmas table. The similarity can hardly be coincidental.
Hello Vincenzo, wishing you a great Christmas season. A quick question: could'nt really see name of rice for Arancina. Was it arborito? Ok, you called it crepe lasagna. Never seen that before. Looked amazing. Can you do a separate video on how to make the crepe? Or did I miss it? I love porcetta! Here in Canada, a lot of Italians originate from the south of Italy when they came over in the 1960's. Here you can actually buy a whole roasted, small pig. Great for a huge family gathering. Great Christmas lunch. Thank you.
This looks like a great Christmas Dinner menu. Unfortunately most of my family will not eat pork What would you suggest as a substition for the porchetta?
Hi, could you do me a huge favor and recommend a good recipe for crepe-style cannelloni with meat and red and white sauce? I used to get this at my favorite Italian restaurant in Chicago, but now my ex has legally trapped me and my small child in Norway for the next 18 years. I can't go home for Christmas, but I really want to make these cannelloni. Thanks so much for your help!
I only made them with a ricotta and spinach filling, here you can find it www.vincenzosplate.com/recipe-items/cannelloni-with-spinach-and-ricotta/ You could make them, I’m sure you will love them too
assolutamente si, è una ricetta tradizionale abruzzese, puoi trovare la ricetta qui www.vincenzosplate.com/recipe-items/lasagna-recipe-made-nonna-igea/
For Christmas Eve, it’s baked Baccala with olive oil with Potatoes, a little fresh tomato on top of the fish, NOT tomato sauce, celery, black olives and capers. This recipe is from where I come from in southern Italy. The salted Baccala has to soak in water for 3 days before cooking. Some people here call this “Pesce Stocco”. Also, there is stuffed calamari, Octopus salad, and calamari salad. I also made a mussels, clams, shrimp and scallop dish together in a light tomato broth. Lots of seafood and then Lasagna Bolognese on Christmas Day! Don’t forget the Zeppole in honey with espresso for desert.
I dont know if someone already asked the question... why do you live in australia and not in europe? Many southern europe people went north for better work.
What is your family traditional dish you must have for Christmas?
