He really is an amazing writer in the horror world. I knew he was King's son when I first started reading his work, but he has a totally original writing style, different from his father but just as frightening and brilliant.
@@radiofreealbemuth Check the video of While My Guitar Gently Weeps live, the one where Prince plays an extended (and awesome) guitar solo. One of the backup musicians on the guitar is Dhani Harrison, the son of George Harrison. If you are mistaken thinking it's a 1965 George Harrison who time traveled, you'd be excused. Carbon copy isn't even the right term. Clone is more like it.
Hunter Harris it's amazing! I'm not going to lie, the ending really got me - Joe and his Dad are two of the few writers who have made me cry from the power of their stories. I'd really suggest it!
It's amazing how well he explains his techniques and ideology just at the tip of his tongue. Explains these things better than his father in my opinion.
Lock and Keye is really an amazing fantasy epic- Cape is another great comic (graphic novel) he wrote. In Cape, Horns and L and K he really is unafraid to gaze at the really really dark sides of his characters. He is a great character builder.
When both your parents are successful fiction writers, one of course being Stephen King, then the things you may do for a living have to be laid out for you. Thing is, do you choose it or does it choose you? I agree with a lot of what he says. If only I could have a fraction of the success ....
Joe Hill succeeded completely on his own merit, his agent didn't even know who he was for like 10 years. That's Why he used the pen name, because he didn't want to be compared to his dad.
I HAD NO I IDEA HE was THE KINGS SON, Joe Hill has written the books to all my favorite Movies without even knowing he was the written let alone he is Stephen's son WOW
Stephen King says something similar about outlines. That they are "the best way to immortalize a bad idea." I'm sure King naturally had an immense influence on Joe during his formative/developmental yrs. But that being said I think he (Mr. Hill) certainly has his own voice, and style as well.
Great strategy writing under a pen name instead of name dropping. That said, I'm pretty sure growing up in a household with parents who are great writers might have rubbed off on him a little. Who wouldn't ask for a tip or two from the guy in the next room who happens to be one of the most successful writers of the 20th century.
I get the sense that Joe Hill, tries to stay away as much as he can from any Stephen King references..even though he's a writer because of King. King is I think more enamored of horror, although he's done other non horror genres.
This guy 'thinks too much'. JUST FUCKING WRITE! ('Dad' has never had to 'think' anything...just sit and begin typing from the thought of "What if vampires were real? How about'other Worlds' where things have gone to shit because 'magic' has too much power there? If people have a 'spirit' that endures past physical death...what about other critters that 'think'...do they have 'souls' too? What if everything we think is 'real' is just one aspect of 'reality' because our minds can't grasp anything more?")
He looks so much like his dad.
I like his dad. I think he’s got a good future in publishing. 😉
I like it how he loves his fathers work, good son, good father
Joe it such a great voice in fiction, I love his ideas and his take on writing 😊

I don't want Stephen to,die, but if so, his son will continue on.??😈
@@bonnih6931I hope so too.
It’s eerie how much he looks like Stephen 30 years ago.
Even down to the hair style and facial hair
That's the son of Stephen King?
WOW, I WOULD NEVER HAVE GUESSED, NOT LIKE HE IS HIS CARBON COPY.
David Meir ✊🏾Ahahaha I know right.
I literally clicked on this video assuming they used a picture of a young king

Finally someone else who's noticed the word Actually. People use it all the time when they don't know what to say. It's replaced "um".
_Locke and Key_ is one of my favorite graphic novels of all time.
This comment was two years ago, but I totally agree. I've finished reading it four months ago, and let's just say some tears are shed.
I loved it, so good.
I just read heart shaped box, great horror novel. He is truely Stephen kings son. I also have locke and key.
Read it and didn't know who he was, just a great story!
NOS4A2 sounds great! I'm going to check it out.
Hunter Harris I highly recommend it! Especially around Christmas time.

I really like this guy. The description of his office space is so simple and obvious. Why didn't I do this 25 years ago?

I read NOS4A2. It's huge but REEEEEEEEEEEAAALLY good.
I'm just starting NOS4A2 but so far I love Vic Mqueen and her bike.
awesome

"Outlines are the tools of the devil," lol. I don't outline my work either. But that was kinda funny.

I really, really want to read this Manx novella!
I thought the thumbnail was a young Stephen King. Didn't know it would be his son.
This reminds me of the destruction of the library of Alexandria when all that great knowledge was set on fire
Seems like a good guy
I'm about to do NaNoWriMo and this all very helpful, and resonates with me 💞

Love that bowl cut. Don’t loose that
Lose*
Joe, will you be visiting Missouri? Especially Kansas City, Missouri any time soon?
💗
please.say to joe hill to make a you tube channel, there is 0.000000000000000 percent chance that he gonna not famous!

What his best book so far?
Matthew Medley I think Horns is damn good but that's just me
stephen king son
he look likes my dentist
their faces are same
Love his work. Locke and key and Nos4a2 are my favorites. Is it just me or is his writing often homoerotic is a very subtle way???
Nos4A2 was an original tale. The show...meh. it was alright. The first season did ok.
But the BOOK. amazing writing.
Spitting fucking image
His methods and ideology are almost identical to Stephen King's. Go figure.
What, he over writes about 200 pages in every novel also?
Picture the prick. You don’t have to, there mookamoka is.

Joe is not the next king
Because he's his own thing....he didn't take his father's surname for a reason. He didn't need it to succeed.
Racista!
Needs to stop saying umm all the time and ahh it annoying makes him seem less intelligent. And I know he's not.
work from character??? all his characters are flat, any other characters would have the exact same story...
Boring 🙄 Stephen is King
