When I was about 16 in 1975 my older sister tried to explain the amazing talent of this band, but I was into Rock and had no interest. I'm so much older now (63) and my sister ❤, has long passed into Heaven. . I just wish I could tell her how right she was ❤.
thats awful sweet whart you wrote, yes there were a lot i wish i could talk tosome of my folks especcialy my wife who passed away jan 27th of this year i talk to her every morning and every night
These are such beautiful songs and so beautifully crafted musically that I could listen to them every day, even by breakfast. Way to go guys. Keep going.
Kentucky... Sonny's smile and expression at the change of key....and the audience's appreciation of this.....says all you need to know about the Osborne Brothers, and what they have meant to America and it's real music. Did you ever see a more attentive audience.........of professionals....? This is truly awesome stuff.... James Hennighan Yorkshire, England
With the recent passing of bobby it hurts my heart that these boys didn't get the attention they deserved they came up through the ranks with the best of em held their own and earned their spot they're as genuine as any other bluegrass band as well if not more grass roots love to hear their story
I saw these great brothers in the early ‘70s & thought they were the greatest Blue Grass singers I’d ever seen!! I wish I’d seen them more - but they travelled & I stayed in VA, married & had a family!!💕. But I always loved Country & good Blue Grass Music….& these guys were the best Blue Grass I’ve ever heard!!! It’s 2023 now & I’m 67 ~ still love the old Country & Blue Grass Music!!!!❤️🌈🌻🦋🌺💖
yes they were good , have you listened to any of my music?sign on to Powell260 I have about 25 to 30 songs on there Make sure if you go on that you play Old Bones. George Burns sang this song when he was 100 years old High ball in one hand and a cigar in the other. I think you will enjoy it
Gorgeous singers, genius instrumentalists, Superb singing/harmonies as only The Osborne Brothers can do! Thank God for Bluegrass Music and Thank God for Kentucky~
🤠🔥🪕🎻🇺🇸🤝🇨🇿👏🏻👍🫡
Before Sonny died, the audience was spellbound at the Ryman, in the studio, or wherever because of the atmosphere generated by the Osbornes from Kentucky. The Everly version was also superb but with a different rhythm. I first heard this favorite song in Shreveport, LA as sung in 1949 by Johnny & Jack on KWKH radio and the Louisiana Hayride........wonderful memories!
Spot on Sharon..........that change of key is just awesome......and the audience acknowledge this in their appreciation. James Hennighan Yorkshire, England
Yes I certainly agree. Everyone loves where they grew up usually, but for me Kentucky with all of its rolling hills, mountains in the south with Black bears, the birth place of Bluegrass music.. ah I could never leave it
Somebody needs to write this song. I listen to your songs under my pillow... .*I can finish this,,,but someone else will. Keep Country In Country Music.
Like the competition for best baseball player of all time is really only for second place [after Babe Ruth] the competition for best Bluegrass vocalists is really only one for second place [after these guys] . There's a reason Jean Shepherd paid them the ultimate tribute - again, how the hell can there be 10 people who actually gave this a thumbs down?
The poorest of my momma's side was my Grand Pa Davis; her daddy. Grand Pa could plow straight and was completely honest. He left home of most beautiful Kentucky with a third grade education, traveled west and ended up in Oklahoma. Hard work, kindness and happiness is what my family and I witnessed a few summers ago. As for just me. From the Grapes of Wrath to lushious deep dark streams of Kentucky, I am free. Wish I could write better.
Well, several have asked who the blonde and brunette are. Took a little exploring. The blonde is 'almost' certainly Goldie Hill, and the brunette is certainly Chalee Tennison. Be hard to find a couple of gals more attractive. An aside...at the end of the rendition of Kentucky, while the folks are giving Bobby and Sonny a standing O, Bill says "Eddie Stubbs, you have a way commenting on a performance like this." (loosely, cause it's been a few years ago) and Eddie says "Any questions?" I guess that does sum it up. I had saved this installment of CFR on my dvr but let it get away. If you are a fan of Country's Family Reunion, you might catch a repeat of this episode with the Osbornes.
This is tremendous - Osborne Bros later in their career together but still hitting it. Terry Smith, their bass player at the time, on the trio. Yeah, he's chewing gum which ain't real pro for sure, but he is one. Wonder if Sonny said something to him about the gum chewing after this was aired! Connie Smith is NOT in the audience. The beautiful blonde at 3:24 is Eliz Cook. Bill Anderson is NOT grimacing at the beginning. His looks is one of those "wow" reactions to their harmony. Anyway, these are some super trios.
@@gwhitfield4239 I just watched it again. If it's Faith she sure looks identical to Eliz. Anyway, no need to disagree - the main thing is the great performance, as always, by the Osbornes.

Bobby Osborne - Now 91 and still touring. (look for him singing "Pathway of Teardrops" and get ready to be blown away!)

enjoyed your information I will have to look that up about johnny and Jack, used to love them sing
That little grin Bobby has at 1:57, reckon he was thinking "nailed that sucker"?
And the look on Bill Anderson's face when they hit that first harmony says it all

This is soooo good !! 🥰🥰
love it all day and night
Wow
These are sung greatly by The Osborne Brothers. What does Sonny say to Jean Sheppard at the end of Kentucky?
have no ieea
Love it
My uncle is a Blue grass singer
good to hear from u
As Bill said on fade out....."It don't get no better than that!"
Now that reflects respect and how professional the middle guy is chewing bubble gum
nothing I can do aboout it but they are sure good
Let it go- was probably nerves... I mean you're right THERE in front of many legends
It might be to continue the production of saliva…..not that unusual in close harmony and carefully timed chords.
❤❤❤
I often wondered who was playing the fiddle for them that day....
Everly Brothers' rendition was so much more soulful, heartfelt and beautiful.
You're kidding, right?
Craig Morgan was spellbound.
Is that the great Harley Allen singing with them?

who is the young man at 3.06 man the music is touching his soul, any one got the banjo tab for this
Who is the guy in back?
How in the Hell can the Back Singer Chew Chappies while singing 😐 Horace Manners
Helps keep the mouth wet. A lot of singers do that.
Does anyone know who the blonde and brunette are that are smiling so pretty?
Can someone tell me who the blond woman with jeans is? Is she a country singer? She can be seen at the last part of the first song.
are the brother still living
Yes.
Yes and Bobby still performing at 89 years of age he’s great 👍
Sonny retired in 2005, Bobby still playing at 89.
Names of two ladies in thumbnail
Who was the 3rd singer?
i have no idea
I think it’s the late Harley Allen
