    Tiff Needell was the spitting image of my old neighbour on my street, Colin Aspden! 😉
    The Vectra here has been untaxed since August 2007 and has not been MOT’d since January 2008, and the last logbook was issued on 10 August 2005 for your knowledge! 👏

    I always liked the styling of the Vectra B model. And apart from suspension parts made of jam, they were pretty reliable.

    My uncle was going to buy a 2.0 cd, but in the end bought a pre reg 4 door 97 GLS 2.5 spec'ed with rear electric windows, cruise AC and weirdly a manual roof. He took it to 200,000 with only an alternator, oil cooler, and some other minor electrical things. I was going to buy it from him in 2001 when I was 20, but unfortunately it was ruined by some inappropriate jacking when the (steel!) wheels were stolen in Luton.

    I can’t quite believe that he suggested a passenger airbag as standard was a drawback

    • @CynicalBastard511
      @CynicalBastard511 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well, it wasn't. The passenger airbag was optional. It became standard across the range with the facelift in 1999. If I recall correctly, the facelift also added side airbags as standard as well.

    I owned one from when they first launched it about 96 onwards, it was nice, but an absolute money pit, and i've heard story's about post model vectra's that have been similar, bring back the cavalier anyday, much simpler and less trouble. Vauxhall tried to go upmarket with the vectra, but upmarket they couldn't quite get right.

      @@monk3yboy69 As much as I typically hate Vauxhall/Opel, the last Omega wasn't that bad. And the old Lotus Carlton/Omega was legendary. But on the Lotus they "took a Vauxhall, and threw most of it away." And of course the Vauxhall Monaro and VRX8 were awesome but those were Holdens, not Vauxhalls (weren't even sold as Opels).

      The problem with Shitpels/Vauxholes is that they will never be “upmarket”, and the French, Italians and Japanese as well as VW have always built better mass-market cars than them for the same amount of money.

      A friends dad had one new. He had a cavalier before that. I remember him saying he wished he kept the cav.. or words to that effect.
      I was about 10 at the time. I remember the cav well, it was a 2.0 GLS in Silver. The envy of the street.
      People may question why anyone would be envious of a cavalier, but the neighbours had such cars as an ancient baby poo brown vauxhall viva, and another had an old black escort estate.
