Personally, I think making the parts that just go in a drawer when not in use as actual figures is brilliant.
Iron Factory does something similar with their combiners. When not in use, the combiner parts can combine into a bust of the combiner for an additional display piece. Not quite the same as full-on extra figures, but they're Legends scale so there's only so much engineering you can do.

@@Wolfie1262 For someone with very limited space and budget they're a godsend.
My only issue is that due to the small size, some figures can crack if you're not careful. My Bludgeon's foot and the hip on my Transmetal 2 Megatron broke unfortunately, I haven't found a glue strong enough to fix them either.

That bit of magic to convert Thorilla's hip joints into ratcheted joints is genius. That is one possible solution to the previous pantsbot conundrum: hip joints that are way too tight in bot mode but still way too loose for combined mode.

Saw a pic of Thorilla with Optimus Primal color scheme. Would be cool to if the rest get the color schemes of rest of Maximals. Headstrong colored as Rhinox, Firmament as Airrazor, Ferocious with Tigatron's, Tantrum with Bonecrusher's and Kinglion's as Prowl and the wolves with Wolffang's. That being said, the whole set is coming along very nicely 👌. Wish they'd come out with the toys faster only bcuz I wanna see how their Dinobots version are gonna look

It’s Predaking. Highly stylized, but still Predaking. G1 inspired. Primal wouldn’t exist for another 100-200 years after this thing would exist

Yep, great review. This is one of my favorite set, and I love that you didn't have to show the other foot. Nothing against it, but there's really nothing new that needs to be done while transforming it anyways. I'm honestly half tempted to buy them again, just to have their alt mode on display as well. Great work, and see you around Emgo :)

Hey emgo, maybe you've seen it since posting, but the second to last page of the instruction book ( the page on the other side of the foot complete instructions) shows those parts attached to the gun and hammer are for locking the toes of the foot in place. Its the bottom left panel on that page. Panel 05.
The reissues of Landbull come with the bits that come with Thorilla already installed.
When he placed Optimus Primal right next to it, all I could imagine was a similar scene like Avengers, when Hulk punched Thor hahaha

you know how the decepticons have the stunticons and how motormaster loves to go head to head with Prime for "king of the road", well let's just say if Primal were to go back in time during the present timeline that prime is in and if thorilla were to acknowledge his beast mode also being a gorilla.
Now due to razorclaw being the leader of the predacons it won't have the same energy as motormaster vs prime, but it's just a thought of two gorillas fighting for the title of "the true silverback"(this is the best title I can think, so you can probably think of a better one).

Those little pieces for the combined mode are for the feet, actually. If you fold the tiny rear feet of the wolves up, you can place them on there for a different state of stability.
I know that now. I show all that off when I review the full combiner.
Yeah this is definitely Nemesis Primal..face mask, forearm blasters, circular hips..all he needs is a jetpack with 2 cannons..
Those 4 separate parts are braces for the combiner feet if I remember right from watching other reviews.
Yeah, they are shown in the instructions the page immediately after the completed foot image. Panel in bottom left corner if emgo sees this. I didn't see it the first time I looked through the instructions myself. The page they are on is all about where all the extra parts from Thorilla can be attached on the combiner. The pieces are to have the "toes" in the proper location and not move to freely. Although it does make it so the wolf feet are no longer touching the ground, which kinda sucks cause I thought the whole point of the wolves having the rubber pads on their feet was to add more friction to prevent the combiner from falling over. Oh well, its an option I guess.

Re-watching this a couple of months down the line as part of the now-completed playlist, and I have to say that anyone who thinks that engineers who put this sort of effort into toys could be better employed designing things that people actually _need_ (which is something I've heard people say before about these 3rd-party toys) should be glad that whoever came up with that idea to completely reconfigure the side of the toy to create a track for the hips to rise and then have bits of the hammer turn into a ratchet for a friction joint and _actually somehow make it work perfectly_ is the sort of mad evil genius who would probably create some convoluted sentient humanity-dooming machine if they were let loose on the world with more serious tech - I actually feel _safer_ that they're just working on "toys"! lol

Since the thumbs of the gorilla hands can move to either side of the palm, you could have him use the gorilla hands in robot mode for some sort of super punch attack.

Yes you can, I've seen only one other reviewer show that off. They seem to scale better to the rest of the robot body imo.

@emgo316, the two claw looking pieces do serve a purpose in combined mode. They go on the front, right in between the feet guns in combined mode. The instructions show you where. All pieces are involved with the stability of combined mode. The 4 black pieces go under the feet as well. 2 for each foot. But you'll have to do a bit of prep in order to plug them in under the feet..
I knew about the claw parts, but is there a video showing what to do with the black parts cuz what you said didn't explain much, sorry lol.
@@emgo316 Mangmotion did a review recently, he shows where the bits from the gun and hammer attatch to the wolves front paws. Hope that helps
@@emgo316 , there's about a couple of videos or so, but in the instructions, it shows where the 4 black pieces go. The 2 that attach to the hammer and the other 2 that plug into either side of Thorilla's gun, they're meant for the wolf feet in combined mode. You'll have to flip the front feet upward and underneath are a few tabs and slots. That's where those pieces tab in at. But the pieces have to be facing in a certain direction in order for it to plug in properly. There's 2 for each foot on either side towards the front..
My Thorilla's arms aren't tabbing in to the chest in combiner mode. The tabs seem to be slightly too large for the slot, might be something that happened in a reissue but it isn't a huge deal, it's easy enough to position the arms like they should be, just not tabbed in. But in case anyone else runs into this, you're not the only one.

EM, I think your Thorgorilla is missing its hip joint guards. I was just looking at the JTI to get mine into ape mode and noticed it. Maybe someone already mentioned it. Great vid!

I wouldn't be surprised if *Hasbro* decided to take advantage of Thorilla's similarity to *Optimus Primal,* and named him *Nemesis Primal* - usurping leadership of the Predacons from *Razorclaw.* If they didn't go that route, an alternative Name would be *Silverback.*

anyone else ever confused by the whole Primal idea with Transformers I mean they're supposed to be robots in Disguise but no other animals going to mistake them for one of their own and there aren't any humans to be hiding from and the other robots are going to be able to obviously recognize that they are not animals so who are they disguising themselves from and why would they pick forms that obviously stand out!?
According to the original story the beast modes were due to energon overload. If they didn't have the flesh covering the ambient energon on the planet would stasis lock them.
I gave the wolves the names "Death Claws" and "Silver Fang." Figured those suit them quite well and they'll both live up to their names 😁 And as always my fellow reviewer, great reviews! Love your work! Looking forward to your review of Hugerhino when he comes out and the entire Thunderking as well..
