      Lol Mapogos and also Notch situation all at once. The sub adults from the Kambulas pride I believe are and were 5 males lions, and the older male from a different pride like Makulu once did with the Mapogos. Also the last Birmingham’s male lion is doing what the Notch’s did. It just reminds me of the Southern Matimbas; when the Southern Matimbas were this Birmingham’s age they both had a pride one more time and even some Cubs. Matimba is a relative to the Birmingham’s so I’d say he could still have 2 or 3 more good years left as a dominant male lion. Harry Belly was trying to do the same the Birmingham’s male lion is doing with his nephew, but Harry Belly was just too old already.

      I think that is the story of every male lion. If they are wondering on their own is when they make the biggest mistakes. I think those injuries will be a big lesson for them to not separate. The Magingilanes lost their brother young. They seem to hardly ever separate. The Mapogos would separate and lose Kinky Tail and Mr.T. The Othowa male lion died being alone.

    Dynamics change so fast. If the n'waswishakas lose 1 brother then that could turn the tide to seeing what we saw with the mopogos where they hold such a big area that they hwve to split to patrol and end up being near on picked off 1 by 1. Going to be some exciting and sad times a plenty within the next year 💯

    • @Leon-kf4rw

      And in this light folks should begin to see how truly specail the mapogo lions were . They held 9 prides , and 80% of the sabi sands . And they held that territory surrounded by the most legendary lions of our time . Land that was once occupied by 200 lions held by 6 males . And now even these very impressive current male lions struggle with much less on their plates . Cant help but think lions as a species is on a sharp decline ! Food for thought the next time man feels he should ballance a scale ....nature carefully engineered ! Peace friends be safe !

    • @Maxibaluco
      @Maxibaluco ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Leon-kf4rw The N'waswitshaka males are much much smaller (guides and photographers always comment that Eorenji is the smallest male they've ever seen) than the Mapogo males who themselves weren't big males (except for Makhulu and Dreadlocks). They have 2 injured members, it is completely expectable that they might struggle to hold their turf. They were 6 males against mostly duos or single male lions, of course they ganged up on them and killed them. There are many far greater coalitions in Kruger National Park that have been far more successful, the 7 Old Gomondwane males were dominant for almost 10 years, brutal and have dozens of daughters and sons, literally.
      The Mantimahle males had such a big territory that rangers said that it took them a week to patrol it whole, they have been dominant since 2015 and have killed many lions (including the fathers of the 4 N'waswitshaka males).
      At the time Mapogos were dominant there was no such thing as the most legendary coalitions of our time, the most successful coalitions in recent years came after the Mapogos (Matimbas, Majingilanes). The Matimba males themselves killed or defeated more than 9 coalitions, raised many offsprings to adulthood and were dominant for 11 years.

    The incidents involving the Tumbelas, PCs. Nhena, Nkuhuma. The PCs were first to get to the Ottawa pride, maybe some few days before Nhena and Nkuhuma. And based on what I just read from Savanna, this stuff all happened in April, not in the current month. The PCs went west from Singita, past the Ottawa pride, then south into Savann GR--at least that's where the last sighting of one of them was. The PCs left 1 Ottawa cub dead in their wake it seems, a female, in keeping with their character. It was after they chased Skorro Jr. that 5 cubs were reported left. There was no fight reported between Skorro Jr. and the PCs, but both PCs had new marks on the snouts. Nhena and Nkuhuma went north from Savanna, probably passing the PCs at some distance--there was no fight between them reported--and met Skorro and the Ottawa pride.
    Sassy took the 5 cubs away, and there was a fight, maybe 1 vs 1, between Skorro and Nhena. Nhena did some damage to Skorro, but Skorro really couldn't manage to even scratch Nhena, or not much. In that certain video, the 2 Ottawa "aunties" went charging at both Nhena and Nkuhuma, presumably after the fight involving Skorro, and they probably did more damage to Nhena on he snout than Skorro. The 2 Ottawa lionesses surrendered to Nkuhuma, and shortly after, it seems, they went back to the Ottawa pride. Nkuhuma and Nhena then discovered the Ximumgwe lioness, and Nhena took "mating rights."
    LImper Tumbela. When things started happening out of the ordinary, he probably went limping away into hiding. He's not been seen alive yet--as of yesterday--since the happenings, but recent tracks left by him have been found.

    What is SCAR's best guess as to what happened to poor Tinyo? The last information that I received about Tinyo's whereabouts was that he was patrolling on the border of Sabi Sands and Kruger Nat'l Park on the same November day that the N'waswishaka Coalition made its northward advance. I understand that a few of the Kambula cubs also disappeared that same day. When a lion suddenly and inexplicably disappears without a trace, is the disappearance usually due to poaching? Two of the most well known cases of lion disappearances were King Mfumo(2018),Tinyo's closest brother, and the regal Rasta Mapogo(2010)-- both cases attributed to poaching.

      I think you are on the right track about that poaching! I just read about the President of Botswana accepting 50,000 dollars to shoot and kill a elephant Tusker they said just one of his tusk weighed 100 pounds. And said the meat would provide the villagers ! So heart broken everytime I see a Ellie I’ll cry ! So yes that poaching is happening for big money. Shouldn’t be any price on a wild animal. Tinyo missing? The Ndzengas started their "takeover" along an eastern fork up into Mala Mala. This was in the first week in November, it is on record, and I don't "make up" any of what I write. There was some skirmishing or an altercation between the Ndzengas and the 3 Kambula lionesses with 10 cubs between them. The lionesses supposedly had scratches aferward, and Tinyo was gone after this--reported seen alone near the KNP border. Probably 3 of the 10 cubs may have disappeared at about the time Tinyo did; by the end of 2021, there may have been only 5 remaining, and a couple months later, only 4.
    The Ottawa pride now has 5 cubs, unless another was lost in the past day or two. What really should be obvious is that whenever nomads or males from elsewhere approach a pride, even if they do not "takeover," a number of cubs are likely to be missing when the dust settles.
    Still too much for people to understand that the Ottawa male and Manghenis were dealing with a persistent nomadic male pest for more than 2 years, and he brought his 2nd partner north from the Styx pride in September/October of 2020--sorry, but this is fact and evidence is on record. I don't think the Nwalungus had as much of a taste for killing young lionesses, and 1 pregnant older one, that the PC males have showed. But when nomads wander through a pride territory, cubs will get separated from their mothers and lost, killed by hyenas and leopards, even if the invading nomads do not actually grab the cubs themselves.

    No we don't know that the Ottawa male was killed by the Birminghams. He was killed by them because John Varty thinks so? JV never saw or heard any lions fighting, and he was not out in the presumably 2 vehicles with his staff on the night of May 6. I just looked at some video of the Manghenis with the Ottawa male. Under some conditions, hair in OM's mane could look black. The presumed evidence JV believes he found of Nhena and/or Tinyo around the OM carcass was very probably hair from OM's mane. In human murder cases, DNA testing would be done, and there is also hair and fiber analysis testing. Mala Mala actually admitted once that they were not 100% about what happened to OM. This is just too hard for people to understand; it's easier to believe dumb narrative.
